How To Wear This Season's Hottest Eyeshadow Shade

Colourpop Pressed Powder Shadow - Tiki

By BR Tabatha

It feels like yesterday that I was watching a vid featuring Drew Barrymore talking about how she thought yellow was going to be the next big eyeshadow shade. In fact it may have only been a month or two ago, and you know what? Drew was right!

Yellow is popping up bright and beautiful in eyeshadow palettes left, right and centre!

So how's a girl to wear such a potentially confronting colour? Check these tips and tricks out!

Easy does it. Going in doesn't mean going hard. If yellow intrigues you but feels a little scary, start off by using it as a gentle wash of colour over the lid, as a transition colour in your crease, or add it into your usual colour palette of daily shades so that it's part of the look not 'the' look.

Except when more is more. Want to take your yellow look to the next level? Don't be shy! Place the colour all over your lid. Pack it on. You can even bring it down and use it as a liner under your lower lash line. Add a bold wing and you've got a look that's truly brilliant (and surprisingly nowhere near bumble bee!).

Make it pop. Ditch the champagne or silvery shimmer and pop a little bright yellow in your inner corner for an unexpected, yet beautiful highlight.

Remember... to prime. If you want the colour to really pop - and stay in place - apply concealer or eye shadow primer before going in.

Don't forget... sometimes less is more. If you're going bright, then keep things subtle on the rest of your face.

Also keep in mind... Makeup is whatever makes you happy - so rock the yellow however you want, because at the end of the day if you try something and it doesn't work you can wipe it off and start fresh.

So are you saying hello to yellow? Are you a bit mellow on the ol' yellow and can take it or leave it? Or is it a straight our yeah-nah? Chat away!

These look lovely, I'd try them, especially the 'feature colour' in the inner corner - not too scary to try!

I think it is a colour only certain people could carry off, and I am not one of them.

28th November, 2018

I love it! Doubt I could get away with it though hahaha

I like many shades of gold so shimmery yellow counts right?

I love using yellow. I did a yellow, orange, red look last week. I just changed my profile picture to the look I created.

Looks good!

10th November, 2018

All I want is yellow eyeshadow now! Or a yellow eyeliner!

9th November, 2018

I can see how this colour really works on olive skin tones, but sadly wouldn't be so great on my pale face!

8th November, 2018

I do yellow sometimes.

8th November, 2018

That’s one colour I haven’t got in my eye shadow collection. I’m loving playing with colour lately .

7th November, 2018

I never hopped on the mustard clothing trend so I can't see myself trying this in an eye shadow! Looks great on those ladies though!

7th November, 2018

I love the colour but I’m not brave enough. I’m wearing a lot of clothing that colour.. maybe it will migrate upwards with time haha

I've got this really yellow gold loose eyeshadow that I've been panning all year been using it as an inner corner highlight, on the first inner third of my eyelid. Looks beautiful with warm red toned browns, tan and orange toned browns. It's actually really easy to pull off, especially if you love gold shades.

7th November, 2018

I like the look not sure if it would suit me though

7th November, 2018

I think it would suit anyone with tanned complexion. Think yellow golds and use it as inner corner highlight along with warm toned browns.

6th November, 2018

I really like it but don't think I would suit yellow

6th November, 2018

I reckon it all depends on the look I'm going for. I don't normally wear yellow but I'm sold with makeupbykateryan's look.

I think it would suit anyone with tanned complexion. Think yellow golds and use it as inner corner highlight along with warm toned browns and orange browns. That is if you already have a shade like that already in your collection otherwise, no need.
