How to Use Individual Eyelashes - And Why You Should!

I'm pretty on to it with my beauty life skills - winged eyeliner generally goes my way, I seldom have an issue painting my nails with my weaker side, but false eyelashes...why on earth are they so tricky?!

Now yes after years of trying and failing at faking it I could have chosen to give up on falsies and relied on mascara.  Except my sparse eyelashes need an extra oomph, even with day or natural looks.  Thankfully one day I discovered the easiest way to fake it and I've been doing it ever since.

I give you - individual lashes.  Sounds fiddlier than a strip of lashes I know, but it's not I promise.  Individual lashes are not single strands, they're little 'flares' of 4-8 lashes grouped together by a knot.  Flares vary in length and thickness so you can really customise your look.

Here's what I love about individual lashes:

  • You get to decide where to add length and volume - and how much to add.  Want a little extra on the outer edge to go with your wing?  No problem.  Want to fill in a sparse patch?  Easy.
  • You can build up the look - from a natural day look to a dramatic evening look.
  • Individual lashes are much more subtle than a strip, so you won't need to 'hide' them using shadow or the world's biggest cat's eye.
  • They're semi-permanent.  I apply my individuals every other Monday, they easily last the fortnight.
  • I love how easy they are to apply, its not like lining up a strip, it's really, really easy.

Check out this how-to video and see for yourself how easy individual lashes are to apply!

Do you regularly fake it with false eyelashes?  Do you use strips or individual lashes?  What tips do you have to share?  If you don't fake it - why not?

I just brought some not long ago but havn't been brave enough to apply them yet with my big clumsy fingers.I love how natural they look.

I'm still learning how to apply false eyelashes properly. I found the individual lashes are much harder to apply.

These are my fav lashes to wear! You can build them to be dramatic or more natural. And they come in a few lengths. They look fantastic when your eyes close too. You need a heap of patience and time to apply and match your eyes, so I only do this for special occasions.

I like using and trying good mascaras out have my lashes glued on once but they got itchy

Hmmmm, I could be tempted to give these a try, depending on price. I do use the strip lashes on nights out but they can be a bit much for day to day wear. These individual lashes would be good for just plumping things out a bit rather than going for the full blown strip lashes.

Yes, I am so keen to try these. I like the look of false eyelashes but am not s huge fan of strips.

I like the claim that they last a week but I guess it won't last as long if you use an oil cleanser and you'd have to remove your eye and forehead makeup with just micellar water.

They sound great! Although I wouldn't want them every day, just when I head out (so twice a year, lol) - does that come down to the glue you use?

I've tried the strip falsies before and had more trouble with them than I think I would with singles. I like the idea of being able to build up my look to the intensity and length I want at the time.

I have always been to nervous to try false eyelashes but love the look! These look so much easier to apply.

I like the way they look, but I'm too gumby to apply them.

I love fake lashes I haven't done them myself but have had them done in the salon, including the time they glued part of my eye shut since then haven't braved it myself. Following this one.
