When we purchase a piece of technology it's generally an investment right?  We set ourselves a maximum budget and we buy the best product we can afford, and use it until it no longer works.  But here's the thing about technology - it's always moving forward!

What was top of the line 5 years ago (heck, even 1 year ago) is now the equivalent of a Tamagotchi compared to a Nintendo Switch.  Of a Nokia 6310 to an iPhone 13.  And hair technology is no different.

Compare straighteners now to straighteners 5 years ago.  The difference is astounding!  We now know the importance of choosing straighteners with plates that evenly distribute heat.  We know different hair types require different maximum temperatures.  And how many of us have been saved by the handy auto-switch off function?!

And by using old technology straighteners, chances are you're actually damaging your hair - so rather than waiting for them to die the ultimate techno-death, it's time to reassess your current straighteners now!

We're putting together a really exciting trial team which will see 20 reviewers put a brand new straightener to the test.  Here's where it gets interesting.  These aren't hitting retail stores until around the November 1st and we can't publicly talk about them until then.  Neither can the trial team!  We can say they are going to retail for $439.99 and are based on the latest in STEAM straightening technology.  Christmas really will come early for the members of this trial team!

Steam Technology.

  • Steam technology acts as a conditioning mist, infusing hair with moisture while transforming it into long-lasting, poker straight hair that shines and feels soft and satiny.
  • The mystery straighteners offer you the option to use the base station to automatically fill the straightener in seconds, or you can fill the straightener reservoir directly.
  • The plates are titanium plates, max wide and cushioned to provide the ulitimate temperature stability for poker straight hair in one pass.
  • There's a removable detangling comb that allows for 3D straightening, sectioning and detangling hair as you style it!
  • You'll experience super controlled styling with 5 heat settings up to 220°C and integrated sensors to prevent excessive heat.
  • Hair will stay straight for at least 24 hours!

WE KNOW!!  It sounds amazing!!

So if you'd like to put your hand up to trial this super secret, super amazing product you'll need to take our survey to put your hand up.

Then why not come back here and tell us all about your current straighteners - we'd love to hear how old they are, what technology they utilise and if they need an upgrade!

gosh mine were brought years ago - the brought GHDs when they first hit the market, must be at least 10-15 years! and still going - the cord is a bit dodge though. so scared to try new ones so this would be perfect!!!

22nd October, 2021

I would love to trial this, my hair is way past my shoulders and my 7 yrs old straightener is starting to fail in its duty haha.

I suspect my straighteners are getting close to 15 years old.... nope, just did the math, they're 13 years old!!

I’d love to trial this. My straightener is over 10 years old, and it’s chunky and takes forever to straighten my hair, which is why it doesn’t get used very often anymore. I’d love a chance to see what the new technology in straighteners is like

My GHD’s are so old, they are like the dinosaurs of the GHD world. I barely use them now, I am pretty sure they do damage my hair a bit, and it just takes so long with my thick wavy hair that my arms get sore. So I’ve given up, hair is permanently tied up, and has been like that for a few years now :(. In fact I got so frustrated with my hair a couple years ago I had it all cut off short. But it didn’t suit me, aged me, and now I’ve grown it all back. Old GHD’s still in the drawer in case I have the energy to use them for a special event or anything. But what a job. So it’s unlikely. Now good ones are so expensive, and can’t even be sure if they’ll be worth the money to try them. Big risk. I know some of the ones at salons seem to be more effective than my old GHD’s. but my hair is so dry I don’t want to try ceramic again, only other types like steam. I had considered Dyson but soooo expensive! So nope. So it would be just fabulous to get a spot on this team. It would certainly make my Christmas if I could have my hair down for it! And of course have a new hair straightener too! I love having my hair down and straight, makes me feel so much younger and more confident, and free too strangely! It definitely helps me feel happier when I am down, a great pick me up it used to be. But my bad neck can’t handle my arms in the air for as long as it takes with my old ones now. Also it inspires me to dye my hair more often, and wear a little more make up, and dress a little nicer. Having a good hair straightener would be like one of the most amazing gifts ever! I would love to put this straightener to the test on my hair and see what happens!

I'm still using my almost 10 year old ghd. It has served me well, but definitely overdue for an upgrade! The steam technology sounds amazing, I'd love to try this new hair straightener!

I have Cloud 9 . I’ve had Remington and GHD in the past . Mine is only a year old. I still have remington that my daughter uses now (only on special occasion) . I’d sit this one out . Look forward to reading your thoughts once the reviews come through.

I have ghds that are over 10 years old. In fairness they don't get used all the time but still going strong but being so old I worry they aren't the best for my hair now and my hair is very long

Ohh what a dream these sound. My straighteners recently died and I've been struggling with some mini travel straighteners that I bought for $15 about 8 years ago. They're about the same size as my fingers but surprisingly do an ok job...... Just takes an hour lol. I'd love to trial these, please pick me.

21st October, 2021

My previous straightener was over 10 years old so purchased one online at the start of the year. Unfortunately, it doesn't always do the best job. I would love to try this new straightener to help fight the frizz please!

My GHD is almost 10 years ago! Would love to try out a new one!

I did temporarily have a great pair of straighteners once but my daughter needed them more than me so I gave them to her, they went to her house and I never saw them again and since I play a game of hit and miss with the ones I am left with, 2 things they do - they go off and on, who knows what temperature they are, frankly I’m grateful they are on and it’s a mystery when you decide to run the gauntlet and use themes to whether they are kinda hot, or scorching. What technology do they use,? good question, they get plugged in and off we go. Who knew they can have technology - one thing I do know is you don’t ever use them on wet hair unless you have a starring role as a witch in a movie and are going for the frizzled look and that’s the only time you’d see mist too as your hair fries before your eye. So yes an upgrade sounds pretty awesome please.

21st October, 2021

I have religiously straightened my hair for at least 12 years now so a good hair straightener has always been worth the investment - and they totally are an investment for the best now a days! I brought my current Cloud 9 straightener probably five years ago now and have loved it, although I know it will be soon time for an upgrade!

21st October, 2021

First, I can keep a secret! Second, I don't have a hair straightener but really would like to try one for myself and for my daughter (joint review). Reading your article above, I like that it has a sensor to prevent excessive heat for dummies like me and a newbie. I hope I get a spot in the 20. Thank you.

21st October, 2021

I have one of the original GHDs it’s not as good as it once was but still does the job (kind of) these sound magical though so I would love to be considered to try these
