NO WAY! How Dry Shampoo Changed This Beauty Writer's Life!

Two things I hate about my hair:

The way it grows - thick curls up top, waves in parts, straight underneath, fine, flyaway, frizz-prone.

How oily it gets. Seriously, I wash daily. If I don't, early mid-morning on second-day hair I'm dealing with an oil slick.

I used to try and battle the first issue by using hair straighteners, but that never dealt to the issue of the second-day slippery slop of mop situation. On that I would try using talcum powder - but have you tried white talc on brunette hair? Hello muddy greyness!

Thank the beauty gods, dry shampoo became a thing, and it meant I could finally get the kind of hair I wanted... non-greasy, glamorous, gorgeous, straight hair.

Dry shampoo works by using starches and alcohol, and sometimes clays, to soak up the grease and grime of oily hair, which while not technically magic is a whole lot like magic to a person whose oil production could do serious damage to the environment if left unchecked.

While not having to wash my hair every day and therefore saving time getting ready in the morning is the main reason I love dry shampoo, it comes with other bonuses too, like...

Non-feral camping. Okay, okay, I'm not the world's biggest camper or tramper, but I've been known to go out on occasion. Okay, less than a handful of times. BUT, the next time I am forced into a days-long walk or tenting situation where I won't have access to hot showers you can bet I'm taking dry shampoo with me to ensure that even if I'm not feeling fresh I'm looking it!

Post-work out hair no longer looks a hot mess. There's nothing like a good bit of exercise to encourage hair that loves oiling up to do so even more quickly, which is why after a vigorous(ish) work out I like to give the hair a blast with a hair dryer (because you don't want to be putting dry shampoo on wet, sweaty hair) and then throw a blast of the 'poo through to freshen up my look before going about the rest of my day.

The evolution of dry shampoo has seen those cans of goodness working double time in recent times, not just soaksing up oil but also helping create hair styles and covering greys. We're currently crushing on Schwarzkopf's new Got2b range, which has seen us find even more wonderful uses for dry shampoo.

Helloooooooo volume and texture! Want a rough and ready looking braid? Or that 'just out of bed' but still super stylish hair? The Got2b Volume dry shampoo works to create not only fresher hair, but hair with oomph!

Sick of bobby pins slipping out willy nilly? Hit them up with a spritz of dry shampoo, like the Got2b 'Extra Fresh' dry 'poo, before popping them into our hair and you'll be amazed at their stickability.

Those with blonde hair swear by a squirt of tinted dry shampoo for hiding any roots that are due for a touch up. Those of us with brunette locks now have an option too, thanks to Schwarzkopf's got2b Fresh It Up Dark Brown dry shampoo which also acts as a touch up for greying roots! Don't you just love a product that deals to oil while lengthening out the time before we have to flash the cash at a 'spensy salon!?

Oh! And… Fun fact. If you've got smelly sneakers you can spray dry shampoo in them and it'll help soak up the stink!!

Yes, it's safe to say that on the day after I've washed my hair I now wake up and do a happy dance that with a spray of dry shampoo and a rather delightful massage of my head I can go another day without washing the mane while still looking fresh as a daisy.

I'm a total fan!!! I have noticed though that the garnier dry shampoo has faded my freshly coloured roots :( Has anyone else noticed any fading? I do have red coloured hair

4th June, 2018

Hi I also tried the dry shampoo and it's marvelous

3rd June, 2018

I have tried 2 brands and batiste is the only one that actually worked on my hair :)

I just left be how dry shampoo works but haven’t found one the like on my dark roots yet - some of them just end up looking like I’ve sprinkled baby powder on there!

OOh I would love to try this brand! I need something that won't leave a residue on my dark hair

Post-work out hair <-- YAS definitely! This was what introduced me to dry shampoo. Haha

I'm yet to find a dry shampoo to change my life, I don't like to wash my hair everyday. It will be great to find one that will work on oily hair though.

29th May, 2018

Yes! I just put a review up about the one I trialled :) I think it's a really good product especially if you hair is fine like mine and you can't be ar@#d washing it too often :)

Love the shoe tip. Makes sense though when you think of how people put talc in them.

Dry shampoo isn't something I reach for much even though I workout most days. Mainly because I'm prone to a flakey scalp and wear my hair in french braid or some sort of braid rather than down so I figured the extra volume wouldn't really show.

28th May, 2018

I haven't been a fan of dry shampoo as it usually makes my hair itchy and has white specks so this product will be worth testing and having the colour enhancer sounds like a real bonus

Huge fan! Such a time and life saver.

I have only tried two types so far. The fudge Dry Shampoo I liked the smell but didn't like the results. And also the Toni and Guy Casual Matte Texture Dry Shampoo. I don't like the smell or the result. I did get a Baptiste one in the last vault so I am hoping this will be the one for me.

I'm prone to getting a flakey, scalp so I don't use dry shampoo very often. But then I wear my hair in braids most of the time so it doesn't really show if I my hair hasn't been washed for a couple days.

True -with long hair like yours braiding would look best and easier to keep looking good -You would need too much product with your hair so long so would be easier to braid and not washing for a couple of days would be better for your hair probably.
