When today's trial product first arrived at BRHQ there were waves of excitement.  Two of our favourite words colliding to form one of the most satisfying beauty products ever.

Sugar Scrub.

You're probably familiar with sugar scrubs - the naturally coarse grains are perfect for exfoliating your skin and there's no fear for the environment, a la microbeads, as the grains simply dissolve when you rinse the product off.  Sugar scrubs are usually mixed with an oil or thick cream to form a product that you take handfuls of and give yourself a good scrubbing.

But what got us a bit more excited was that these weren't in fact body scrubs.  These were facial scrubs.  Call us heathens, but both Kellie and I confess to having never scrubbed our face with sugar.  A bit of research told us we really should have gotten sugar on our faces sooner.  Here's why:

  1. Sugar is a humectant - it draws moisture in.  So it'll hydrate your skin and keep moisture locked in.
  2. Sugar contains glycolic acid, which is an Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA).  AHA's encourage cell regeneration by breaking down the glue that bonds skin cells, leaving fresh, glowing skin.

So now we all want to pour some sugar on it, let's talk about the product that started us on this path.  We give you, the L'Oréal Paris Sugar Scrubs.   These scrubs blend three fine sugars, brown, blonde and white, with key ingredients to create three different scrubs for three different skin types.  At the heart of each formula are 100% naturally sourced exfoliants rich in essential nutrients, providing deep yet gentle exfoliation for delicate skin.

The Glow Face Scrub combines the sugars with the brightening properties of Grape Seed Oil to instantly reveal a radiant complexion and baby-soft skin.  The Grape Seed Oil is enriched Vitamin E to illuminate skin while Monoi Oil protects the skin from dullness, and Acai Powder refines the skin’s surface for a visibly smoother finish.

The Nourishing Scrub uses the soothing properties of Cocoa Butter to instantly reveal nourished,  super soft skin.  Cocoa Butter is rich in essential fatty acids to soothe dryness and Coconut Oil protects the skin barrier.  The addition of Cocoa Grains to the three sugars aids in dead skin cell removal and even softer skin.

The Purifying Scrub The sugars provide deep yet gentle exfoliation enabling the purifying ingredients to get to work clearing the skin.  Kiwi Seeds exfoliate the skin and visibly reduce blackheads, Peppermint Essential Oil soothes the skin and reduces blemishes, and Lemongrass Essential Oil purifies the skin.

Whatever scrub you choose, you simply apply a small amount with dry fingers onto your clean, dry skin, add warm water and gently massage over your face in circular motions, avoiding the eye area. Once sugars have melted, rinse with warm water.  You can use up to 3 times a week and you can use it as a lip scrub to smooth and refine the lip line!

We need 90 reviewers to put these to the L'Oréal Paris Sugar Scrubs to the test.

If you're keen to give it a go, talk to us below about all things scrubby and most importantly, tell us which of these is your biggest skin concern:

- Dull skin
- Acne prone/Black-head prone skin
- Dry skin

I love a good scrub, but never tried sugar! This looks interesting!

What are these sugar scrubs? They sound delicious but I promise not to eat them. I would love to get the chance to smother and smell them on my face and to feel the difference to my skin.

I’ve never used one but I can see how it could do wonders for my skin in terms of brightness. I’m about to return from a ski holiday and some nourishment for my dull skin at the moment is very welcome!

I have tired skin due to my busy work schedule even marks from my pimples are not going away as fast as they should be.. Sometimes dry and flakey on my nose. But my bigest concern is the blackheads sitting on the tip. Have only tried a couple of korean branded sugar scrubs and yet the stubborn black heads on my nose haven’t moved an inch so haven’t been using these for a while. But i must say those sugar scrubs do give me a happy smooth complexion i love. I have yet to find a sugar scrub i would keep on using. So i would love to try out the nournishing facial scrub.

I am a massive lover of body and face scrubs! I currently make my own body scrub, a mixture of Covonut Oil and Himalayan salt and use this on a daily basis to try and rid my skin of keratosis Polaris. The last scrub I had for my face was actually a salt and sugar mask which I purchased from the Salt Mines in Poland! It was amazing and left my skin feeling fresh and smooth. I would love to try this new range for dry skin as I have not come across anything similar xxx

I have used sugar scrubs before however cannot remember using them on my face. I am currently pregnant and experiencing changes in my skin so I would really like to see if one of these scrubs could help my black head prone skin.

I use a Lush facial scrub (Cup O' Coffee) which I love, but it can be kinda harsh sometimes - I'd love to try the nourishing one for days when my skin feels dull but also a little too dry to handle the Lush scrub.

Have only heard of sugar lip scrubs in the past. I normally use my clarisonic or this bubble clay mask to exfoliate. This sounds very interesting, I would love to join the trial for this product. My main skin concern would be dull & dry skin.

Did you say sugar? and mixed it in as a scrub? This is the best thing I've heard since sliced bread. I would like to try this out and find out myself if this is truly as good as it sounds. I love L'oreal Paris products and know they are good. But this must probably be the best invention yet.

I have struggled with Acne most of my life, so the thought of putting sugar on my skin sounds super counter-intuitive to me since eating sugar is what causes my breakouts! I am dubious but intrigued.

I have struggled with acne/ blackheads for so long now and am constantly trying to find a cure. I know that the cause is a lot of different things mixed together however to cure it, one of the most important things would be what I put on my skin everyday. I absolutely love scrubs and face exfoliants as it makes my skin feel amazing however haven't found one that actually helps with my blackheads/acne. I would love to try the purifying sugar scrub and see if it would work for me. I have never used a product with kiwi seeds in it, and think that it would be a great opportunity to try it and see whether it'd make a difference on my skin or not.

How yummy the jars look, would love to try the Glow version, I never knew sugar had glycolic and I pay a fortune for a salon product. Would be keen to try!

4th February, 2018

I'm loving sugar scrubs at the moment but have never used a face one, only body scrubs. I love the fact that sugar is natural as opposed to plastic microbeads. However I did not know that sugar contained AHA which is a fantastic bonus. Makes me intrigued as to how it will work on the face. I'd love to try the scrub for acne prone skin as I also get pesky blackheads all over my t zone. Looks forward reading these reviews as they all sound great and I may have to purchase all three

Sounds intriguing, I use sugar scrub on my body but not thought of using it on my face. I have dry skin so wouldn't that make it drier?

4th February, 2018

Having oily skin, my skin gets congested quite easily. Sugar scrub is great for removing dead skin cells and blackheads especially around the nose area. It is also great for smoothing out the texture leaving the skin look brighter. Would love to try this product to see if it will work on my oily/ acne prone skin.
