Have you used a SUGAR SCRUB on your face before?

When today's trial product first arrived at BRHQ there were waves of excitement.  Two of our favourite words colliding to form one of the most satisfying beauty products ever.

Sugar Scrub.

You're probably familiar with sugar scrubs - the naturally coarse grains are perfect for exfoliating your skin and there's no fear for the environment, a la microbeads, as the grains simply dissolve when you rinse the product off.  Sugar scrubs are usually mixed with an oil or thick cream to form a product that you take handfuls of and give yourself a good scrubbing.

But what got us a bit more excited was that these weren't in fact body scrubs.  These were facial scrubs.  Call us heathens, but both Kellie and I confess to having never scrubbed our face with sugar.  A bit of research told us we really should have gotten sugar on our faces sooner.  Here's why:

  1. Sugar is a humectant - it draws moisture in.  So it'll hydrate your skin and keep moisture locked in.
  2. Sugar contains glycolic acid, which is an Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA).  AHA's encourage cell regeneration by breaking down the glue that bonds skin cells, leaving fresh, glowing skin.

So now we all want to pour some sugar on it, let's talk about the product that started us on this path.  We give you, the L'Oréal Paris Sugar Scrubs.   These scrubs blend three fine sugars, brown, blonde and white, with key ingredients to create three different scrubs for three different skin types.  At the heart of each formula are 100% naturally sourced exfoliants rich in essential nutrients, providing deep yet gentle exfoliation for delicate skin.

The Glow Face Scrub combines the sugars with the brightening properties of Grape Seed Oil to instantly reveal a radiant complexion and baby-soft skin.  The Grape Seed Oil is enriched Vitamin E to illuminate skin while Monoi Oil protects the skin from dullness, and Acai Powder refines the skin’s surface for a visibly smoother finish.

The Nourishing Scrub uses the soothing properties of Cocoa Butter to instantly reveal nourished,  super soft skin.  Cocoa Butter is rich in essential fatty acids to soothe dryness and Coconut Oil protects the skin barrier.  The addition of Cocoa Grains to the three sugars aids in dead skin cell removal and even softer skin.

The Purifying Scrub The sugars provide deep yet gentle exfoliation enabling the purifying ingredients to get to work clearing the skin.  Kiwi Seeds exfoliate the skin and visibly reduce blackheads, Peppermint Essential Oil soothes the skin and reduces blemishes, and Lemongrass Essential Oil purifies the skin.

Whatever scrub you choose, you simply apply a small amount with dry fingers onto your clean, dry skin, add warm water and gently massage over your face in circular motions, avoiding the eye area. Once sugars have melted, rinse with warm water.  You can use up to 3 times a week and you can use it as a lip scrub to smooth and refine the lip line!

We need 90 reviewers to put these to the L'Oréal Paris Sugar Scrubs to the test.

If you're keen to give it a go, talk to us below about all things scrubby and most importantly, tell us which of these is your biggest skin concern:

- Dull skin
- Acne prone/Black-head prone skin
- Dry skin

***L'Oréal Paris Sugar Scrubs will be released in NZ on March 1st.***

I looove facial scrubs, and I love making sugar ones myself! Man I would love to give this a thorough trial and see the difference it makes on my skin.

Never used a sugar scrub before. And i actual have never seen then or thought of making face scrub with sugar. Sounds interesting. Black head tiny ones on my chin and nose grrrrr. Love the sound of purifying and glow face scrub.

I’ve tried a Korean brand sugar scrub before and it was amazing, these sound really good too, especially the one for dull skin with the grape seed oil!

Would love to try the scrub for dry ski

The closest to a sugar scrub being used on my face is a homemade face mask that perhaps had sugar in it. I do love to regularly exfoliate though so I imagine this sort of product would be a great one to try. Particularly interested to try one for Acne prone skin or Dull skin. Both a big concern for me.

Oohhh, I would love to try the Kiwifruit scrub! No matter what I do/use I get congested pores, so would love to see what this can do!

Hi, I would love to trial this product. I have dry, dull skin and have tried a bunch of different products that just don't seem to work.

Hi, I would love to please be considered for this trial. I have dry, dull skin and have tried numerous different products that just don't seem to work.

I love face scrubs and have used sugar scrubs on my body and lips but never only face. I'd love to try either the one for dull skin or blackheads. Probably the blackheads one first

I just tried a coffee scrub for the first time and I usually use the apricot scrub. I would like to try the purifying scrub that looks like a kiwifruit! The acne/blackhead scrub would be fantastic for me!

I love scrubs but I can't say I have used a sugar scrub on my face before! These all sound so amazing but I have just had a baby and my skin is starting to break out, so I'd love to try the one for acne/blackheads prone skin the most

I've never used a sugar scrub before, but I used to use the body shops tea tree scrub and that did wonders for my face! Until I had a child that I am plagued with Black-head prone skin and dull skin :/. But a sugar scrub sounds absolutely amazing!

These sound amazing! I’m really looking forward to when they are released, but would b even better to be able to trail one! I have dull skin and big pores so I would love to give this a go!

Would love to try one of these scrubs - especially the Purifying Scrub as despite my advanced age I still have oily, acne prone skin - and these hot days we are having are not helping!

I have been thinking recently I really need to incorporate a skin scrub into my skin routine - I have dry skin.
