Boobie Traps - 7 Signs You're Wearing the Wrong Sized Bra!

Are you very aware of your boobs during the day?  Or more specifically, your bra?  Are you constantly tucking your breast back into the bra cup or sliding a finger under the back strap for a bit of relief?  Pulling up the strap, or just praying for the moment you walk through the door and can remove this boobie prison?

Then you're probably wearing the wrong sized bra!

Don't feel embarassed, most women are - because standardised bra sizes are, well, for want of  better word, dumb.  They're based on a study of 12,000 women from decades ago, and they haven't changed.  And of course bra sizes vary from manufacturer to manufacturer.

Here's seven signs you are wearing the wrong sized bra - when you likely ceck at least one of them, put on your big girl panties and go get professionally fitted, you'll never look back!

1.  The Double Boob - is your bra cutting into your boob so much that you over spill? The test - put a jumper on and turn to the side - if you can see 4 boobs the cup is too small!

2.  The Unparallel Band - the band of the bra needs to run parallel around the rib cage and back - if the back of the bra is raising up towards your shoulder blades the back is too big.

3.  The Loose Back - the back of the bra should be firm - all bras when bought from new must be able to be done up on the very first set of hooks (on the end) if you can do it up on the last set of hooks then the back is too big! You need to be able to tighten the bra up as it gets older and the elastic wears out. You should only be able to pull the back of the bra away from you about 2 inches.

4.  The Saggy Strap - you should only be able to get two fingers (on top of each other) under the strap if the strap can be pulled up further you need to tighten the straps up!

5.  The Lifted Wire - wires should rest firmly and flat against the rib cage in the centre.

6.  The Raise Test -  raise your arms up - do your boobs fall out underneath the bra? If so both the back and the cup are wrong! Always make sure you lift your breast above the wire so they are properly encased inside.

7.  The Bend Test - bend forwards and stand back up - do your boobs fall out? If they do the cup size/style is wrong for your shape!

So there you have it. Are you guilty of a booby trap? If so rip along to your favourite bra shop and get properly fitted - you'll feel immediately more confident and proud of your boobs!

Ugg bra shopping!., I do try my top on over the bra I'm trying to see what it looks like as I have found bras can look horrible under clothes even if the look pretty with just them on.

This is super interesting! Good to know about the lifting band - a few of mine definitely do that

Nope I know how to fit myself. My biggest issue is finding one that feels comfortable as well as fits.

2nd June, 2017

Such good timing for this when I'm looking into purchasing new bras.

2nd June, 2017

Erm...I just buy anything that seems like the right size..and erm, most of them aren't (the right size..)

2nd June, 2017

I've recently been fitted and honestly it makes the world of a difference! My girls are fully supported now haha

Sigh, when you don't have to worry about 90% of bra fitting problems because of a complete lack of boobage. I mean on the bright side I can go for a jog with no bra and feel no difference!

It's really good to link issues to the specific problem rather than just knowing something is wrong. A good and very helpful article!

I m in the process of loosing weight and have about 15 bras ready for when they fit. I'm trying to wear the ones that fit the best or are a little on the bigger side (so they get the most wear before I bin them) but today, the bra is just a bit wrong... damn wet weather & not doing washing! this one now fits in terms of cup, but the wire is digging into my side & I'm getting a bit of 'mono-boob'.

2nd June, 2017

Good to know about the band lifting at the back!

I have found you need to try bra's on before you purchase. You used to be able to go in ask for your size and all was good -now I have 3 different size bras that all fit. Now clothes are made in all different countries there isn't a standard fit for all ( bit like shoes ) soworth the effort to get fitted properly . The Bendon outlet shops do a really good job of fitting I have found.

Haha I have had the double boob before. I've lost weight so am pretty sure mine are a size too big! Need to get a proper fitting.

I agree, if you buy without trying there is no guarantee it will fit whatever the size!

I found a bra that I liked in the Bras N Things store and have ordered new ones to replace them online. I haven't had any problems yet but if I was to order a different bra I would definitely try it on first!

Yes I have learned from experience -size means nothing - I have had a Bcup and a D cup and both fit and a 34 and a 36 so definately need to try first

Oh no - I hate the wire digging into me. Pain....for some reason I wear them even though I know the wire is sticking out - weird!!
