Love

Love that this is two shades and I can essentially do my highlight and contour in one swipe. Blends perfectly and is subtle enough to wear everyday

Brought on recommendation from this site!

I’ve had my too faced candlelight powder for over a year now and have made a decent dent in the pan. It’s a translucent powder with a champagne iridescence. It’s super finely milled and has a handy mirror in the pan. I alternate between this and my hourglass ambient lighting powder in ethereal light. Both are great shades on my fair skin but I find this has less blurring capabilities than the hourglass, and the shimmer can make it not as appropriate for daytime.

Gives a soft ambient glow to your skin

This did start off as a good product and gave my pale skin a look of a blurred soft focus that looked great. However, I found that it is a very fickle powdered and doesn't play nice with a variety of foundations.

Using as a setting powder over foundation is the best way to use this candlelight powder as it has a very soft, muted shimmer that adds a great blue to the face and helps mask blemishes by reflecting the way the light hits your face, without caking you in tons of glitter. A little goes a long way however and don't layer or you will end up with a golden glow all over that looks heavy.

Works well with most foundations but there has been a few I have used under this powder that has caused it to all sink into my pores and break down to become a patchy and somewhat oily looking complexion. So just be wary of that when you use this. It can be used as a spot highlighter for an ever so subtle glow on the top of the cheeks for a more youthful glow, which looks amazing on maturing skin types.

Enablers aren't always right!

I was enabled to buy this by two members as they were in the forum the same time I was and they told me to buy it, plus it helped get my cart over $100 for free shipping. It arrived from Beautylish after a week with my chocolate bar palette and the Better Than Sex mascara, packaged up so nicely I didn't want to open it.

It comes in a cute little compact, with a decent mirror and a sponge which I don't use. The powder on the site was colored grey, which put me off a little, but in real life it's a more yellow color and full of gold flecks. Too Faced is known for chocolate smelling products but sadly this isn't one of them.

I swirled the brush around in the pressed powder and put it on my face. Most of it went into the air, and I didn't see anything on my skin. I got told it 'was like a filter' but frankly to me it was just an overpriced setting powder, and to be honest it's not even very good at that.

I have an oily face so I am glad that this at least keeps my face a little matte, without going overboard with highlight or glitter or even as one user has said their "twilight glow". I do wonder how much was used to accomplish a twilight glow!

If I go super heavy handed with this, I can see vague bits of glitter on my face but I don't think it makes me look like I'm at a 'candlelight dinner' as described either. In fact, it makes my skin look dewey and that's not a look I actively try to achieve. I'm still on the fence about this, and I don't think I would repurchase this. I love Too Faced as a whole but I think some of their products are definitely hit and miss.

Recommending but not repurchasing

This is a beautiful product that isn't quite right for my skin. I am 21 and have oily/combo skin. As much as I love a good cheekbone highlight, I don't struggle with dull skin. I purchased this product after reading fabulous reviews and I thought it may be a great finishing touch after lathering my skin with a full coverage base and perhaps covering up some of my 'natural glow.'

I must admit I was a little disappointed with the packaging. It is plastic and not particularly eye catching on the outside - quite unlike many Too Faced product. The inside makes up for it though - with a large mirror and the most gorgeous, glowing formula tucked inside. It is the most magical powder - it appears as a setting powder with hundreds of tiny particles of glitter. I am hesitant to use the word glitter, as this makes it sound chunky or cheap - but however you describe it, glitter, sparkles or GLOW - this product is stunning and unlike any other other. It has to be seen to be believed.

I have tried various applications of this product but unfortunately it isn't right for my skin. It doesn't provide enough glow for me to use it as a highlight on the cheekbones, but it provides too much glow for me to use it as a face powder all over, even when applied lightly. This would be absolutely magical for dull, dry or aging skin, or someone looking for a VERY dewy/glowing finish, but it doesn't fit with the finish I prefer on my oily skin.

For anyone considering the Hourglass Ambient palette, I suggest purchasing this instead. It is more affordable and provides a stronger but still natural glow. I won't be repurchasing, but I will absolutely be recommending.

Tips: Read other reviews to hear how this performs on dry/normal skin.

A must-have highlighter!

If I could only recommend ONE highlighter to anyone (what sort of evilness is this!?) I would recommend Too Faced Candlelight. I own quite a few highlighters but this one truly stands out amongst the rest.

Whether you use each side of the duo separately or together you are left with a luminous sheen which I have worn with or without a full face of makeup for the past 3 months.

The chunky cheap plastic compact holds a whopping 10g and a good quality mirror. The chandelier on the lid of the compact is embossed on the product which I find rather cute but other than that packaging is nothing special.

The product has a buttery texture and applies beautifully on the skin. It leaves an iridiscent sheen and under low lighting it really looks like your face has a candle lit glow - I have tried this highlighter in a number of different lighting so this one truly is a winner for me. I love that it has no shimmer or glitter so I can easily pack on my highlighter with no risk of that "metallic" look like you have with TheBalm Mary Loumanizer. You can sheer this highlighter out without losing the glow or colour.

My only issue with this highlighter is that it doesn't photograph too well - I'm still working on it but I can't capture it's true glow like I can with Laura Mercier Indiscretion from just using my phone. The lasting power is pretty good, I manage to get a good 7-8 hours. I can not recommend this enough!

Tips: Using a medium angled brush I "dab/press" my highlight from top of my ear to the apple of my cheeks (oh yes I go that far with highlighters haha) and up to my temples (sweeping motion for this part). I then apply my blush because it just looks well blended that way and creates a lovely contrast.

For that twilight glow

Well after reading the two glowing reviews about this product, i had to get it! It seemed to be good to be true, and when i saw a deal on beautybay i snapped it up.

This powder comes in a plastic compact, with top half being white, and the bottom half being gold with the word candlelight in writing over it. To be honest, this package was a bit average considering it was from too faced who have the most amazing packaging. It is efficient though and snaps open and closed and It has a mirror on the inside which is always handy.

The powder itself is creamy colored powder which is flecked with tiny glittery pieces. the powder is creamy but silky smooth which is a lot for a powder, and has honestly raised my expectation for all the other powder products i use.

I use this product by swirling my brush around in it before applying to my face, and yes it does give my face that candlelight glow, however in some lights in also gives my face that edward cullen glow, and you all know the glow im talking about.

What can i say, from a distance, yes my skin looks photoshoped and has a healthy glow to it. But close up, yup i look like a member from the twilight cast which is not the look i go for.

Its hard to describe my thoughts of the product. Yeah il use it up (or try to), but the fact is, it is not my go to powder for daily use. I would rather use this as a night time powder where i will look less like a cullen and more like a normal person with a glow.

The most perfect product EVER!!!

I was enabled into buying this. Now Chikoboo knows her stuff!! I brought it online on special. The packaging is amazing! It's gorgeous. Stunning even!

It comes in a compact made of plastic. Pop it open and there is a large mirror inside. There is a sponge sitting on the powder. The powder looks a light colour and up close it has a gold fleck.

I was told to put it on and go and be shy about it! So I tried it with nothing else on (other than sunscreen) Oh far out!!! My skin looks flawless!!! Absolutely flawless!!!!!! I had to send a selfy to my enablers! Compliments came in. I tried it over BB cream and it looks amazing under and over it. I'm loving trying out different looks.

So it kind of looks like a filter on your skin. It gives a great look and finish. I don't use the sponge, I use a big brush to apply all over my face and neck. This stuff is magical I tell you, magical.

It now seems I'm a too faced addict!!

Candlelight - Magic fairy dust!!!

This is my baby right now; seriously I have used this powder everyday from the first application. I only brought it about 6-8 weeks ago and I already see the faint circles of the pan from overuse (sobs a little)

The reason I love this so much is because it acts likes a powder to set your foundation or BB cream but it has a shimmer to it, not over the top that you end up a dewy sparkly mess, but in fact it gives a matte glow. Its effect diffuses the light that hits your face to give you an instant in real life filter.

When first applying it use a face powder brush that has some body to it, as you want to load it up and then swirl it all around your face, every bit I include my eyelids, neck, chest, etc... Then go about the rest of your make up routine. Don’t be scared!! It can be daunting as its full of tiny glittering silvers and golds, when you’re putting it on with the mirror up close you can get a shock as to how glittery it looks, but don’t stop keep loading it on, I went lightly first and then had to reapply. As it’s like an illusion you look like a sparkling ball up close but take 2 steps away from the mirror...and Oh My Gawd!! You’re fabulous!!! Really I think its magic, maybe made out of fairy dust?

It works well at brightening your face, hiding dark patches, blemishes and wrinkles and paired with a blur cream under a primer, you end up with an almost flawless look. Night or day it just does its magic, I’ve been compliments by a few people over how clear my makeup looks with this powder on.

The powder compact is cute in its goldy beige casing, with a good solid chunky mirror on the inside and a deep seated powder. The closing catch on the compact is awesome too, normally after a few opening and closings it gives and becomes weaker, but everyday it keeps strong! The powder is light beige colour with tiny golden and silver glittery sparkles running through it. It’s a clear/invisible powder so suits all skin tones and types. Another bonus is it doesn’t rub off, I always finish my makeup with a spritz of spray but sometimes even then powders or foundation can rub off through the day, but I have found that this powder just likes to stay where it is on my face until its time to remove it with remover.

Off to buy my next one, it’s an addiction I fear =)

Tips: Don't be scared of the glitter its only visible up really close, use a large powder brush for even coverage so one area isn't more highlighted and don't limit it to just your face
