Better then expected

I have been wanting to try one of these NYX lipsticks for awhile so after discovering online I brought the colour Tea Rose which is a great shade of natural dusky/pink for the day time but can be worn at night too so a pretty universal lipstick to have.I found this lipstick to be very pigmented and the staying power was pretty lasting as at the end of the day I still had some colour left on my lips, granted not a lot but enough to not have to reapply my lippy. These lipsticks are so affordable and I definitely will be stocking up on more shades in the future.

Great price

I only have one lippie from this range but I found it to be very pigmented and apply very smoothly and lasted a decent amount of wear time

nutural

I'm very much on the fence with these lipsticks. They are ok for the price you pay however there are other options that have better pigments than the sheerness that these offer. They are nice to apply and aren't drying however they don't seem to stay very long and your always applying more. The indicator at the bottom is a cool idea and it makes the packaging quite unique and interesting looking. I have given these to my daugthers as they just don't have the staying power that I need and their age group it seems to fit a bit better as they are more like a heavy tinted lipbalm. They have a huge range of colours so for the savy shopper who is looking for a quick fix this will fit perfectly

Love their lipsticks except these ones

I love NYX products because they're reasonably priced and their quality is normally above average when you compare them to regular brands. This was one of the first NYX lipsticks I had purchased and have only used this a few amount of times because of the wearing time. I am a big fan of their lip products except these ones.

I had purchased Strawberry milk and Thalia from Beautyjoint. Strawberry milk is a pastel pink shade and Thalia is a light purpley nude shade.

With Strawberry milk the formula was patchy when I applied it to my lips, although it feels very smooth and creamy. I found applying a lip liner underneath helped hide the patchiness.

With Thalia the formula was creamy and easy to glide on my lips, the pigmentation of this lipstick was gorgeous.

With both they didn't last very long and they transferred everywhere. I found if I didn't line my lips prior to wearing these they would fall to the edges of my lips.

After trying to work with these, I gave them to my daughter to play with. I am disappointed in these as I love Nyx products. I wont be repurchasing these again.

Tips: Line your lips to prevent the lipstick from leaking.

Nyx lippy

What allured me to this brand was the name Nyx. The name being linked to a greek godess and being an American drug store brand I wanted to give this a go. At the time Sunnys in Mount Maunganui was having a clear out of their Nyx products and was no longer importing them in so I managed to get myself one of these lipsticks at a bargain price.

This comes in a black coloured casing. At the end theres a plastic clear cover which shows the shade of lipstick. I got Pluto. Pluto is a deep rich red colour. Very similar to Cherry bomb by Wet n wild. This formula is creamy and has a slight satin finish to it. I was surprised at how hydrating it was.

When I applied it glided on nicely. It had a slight shine to with. With eating and drinking it did transfer. I had to re apply a couple of times. After trying this lippy I think theres room for improvement with its packaging. I did enjoy this formula. I would like to try another one out.

Average lipstick

I bought this in the shade Pumpkin pie with an online order from the US a few months ago for only a few USD. I could swatch it out so from the google images I expected a lovely peachy nude color. When I got this I was pleasantly surprised! It's a lovely soft and warm nude on me and goes really well for everyday wear. I applied it quite heavily to get a smoother look but it was a little thick looking and didn't go on 100% within my lips (but that might just be my lack of skill). These didn't last the longest as with most creamy lipsticks and transferred quite a lot when I ate or drank. Overall a nice lipstick that I like to wear for a subtle bit of color and I'd probably get a few of the other colors on my future purchases!

Quite a bit of slip

These were one of the first lipsticks I started off with when I got into makeup. From a distance the plastic black packaging comes across as sleek but personally it’s a tad boring when all their other lip products are splashed with colour! This line is the more affordable range so I guess you pay for what you get.

I like to think that I take good care of my lipsticks but I found these are prone to melting if you’re not paying attention to where you leave them. The ‘creamy’ in their name is no joke, they swatch beautifully and have great pigmentation but boy are they hard to salvage if they break off, even after sending them to intensive care (i.e. the fridge).

Every single shade I owned did not disappoint in the pigmentation department; there was never an issue with opacity or patchiness so I was definitely in love with these aspects. My biggest gripe (next to the melting issue) is the amount of slip! I understand that the more emollient a lipstick the more it may move on the lips but it was just ridiculous that for some shades I would press my lips together and the colour would begin to break away so I would have to reapply again.

I am a blotter and I found when blotting these lipsticks that a good amount of the product would come away, this happened more so for the nudes than the reds. My favourite shades of the bunch was B52 (a brown based mauve) and Tea Rose (a pinky mauve). The shade that scared the heck out of me due to the varying swatches available online was Power (a white based lilac which did not make me feel any bit close to powerful!).

I bought all my lipsticks from overseas because at the time it wasn’t available in New Zealand so I feel I paid for what they’re worth. These are great lipsticks to have if you love creamy lipsticks but I have since passed these on and will not be repurchasing any. They’re available at Farmers, Makeup NZ and Beauty Bliss for varying prices so it’s good idea to shop around.
