Feels nice but way too expensive to buy again

I got this little oil in my best ever beauty box. I have super dry skin and beauty oils are pretty much my best friends. I've been using an oil on my face for the last couple of years and have seen such great improvements to my super dry areas. I was very excited to try this one out, I've never tried an oil this expensive before so I thought it must be amazing!

This comes in a little green glass bottle with a dropper. Droppers are the best way to get the right amount of oil out. This oil is a beautiful golden amber colour and has a very strong, herbal scent. It took me a while to place it but it reminds me of fresh parsley. I personally don't mind this scent at all but it is quite strong when you first apply. I don't notice it for too long after I apply it. I like to use 5 drops, I find this does my face and neck quite nicely. Although this feels quite rich going on, it actually absorbs into my skin very quickly which I quite like. It really doesn't feel like it will when you first apply it so it did surprise me when I first tried it.

Ultimately, the price factor really comes into play when I think about whether I want to buy this. I like it but I don't know if it's really doing anything different to my oils I purchase for $20 and are 3 times the size. If it was in some kind of pack, I might consider buying that or I'd definitely be happy to get it in another box.

I agree. I didn't see/feel much difference between this and cheaper oils.

Nice enough, but seems unnecessary

I thankfully did not pay for this, and got it gifted with an Elizabeth Arden auction I won. It is very nice. the packaging is great, it smells wonderful and absorbs easily into the skin. Frankly I do not get it. I don't understand this extra step in the skincare routine and I felt like I was spending forever in the bathroom with all my lotions and potions. I think it did help even out my skin tone, and I do have fairly sensitive skin and this didn't cause any problems at all for me. The reason I have given this such a low review is the price point on this product and the fact that it is an extra step that seems unnecessary to me.

Yeah I just don't get it this product either.

Soap and Glorious

This body butter has been a favourite amongst the forum beauties. I hummed and harred over it the last time I saw it in Postie (I have a lot of panning I still need to do!) and then of course, it sold out. When I saw it in a gift pack at a big bucket sale, I finally gave in.

I've always admired Soap and Glory's cute vintage style packaging whenever I've seen it on sale overseas. It's comes in a particular pleasing shade of pink! The 50ml plastic tub is easy to open. The first thing that hits you when opening it is the glorious smell. I'm terrible at describing smells so the best I can come up with is that "it smells like expensive perfume". It is quite strong though and I like my body lotions/butters to be in the same scent family as my perfumes. So I find this quite hard to team with a perfume without it completing so tend to use it alone.

Despite being a thick butter, it absorbs almost instantly leaving beautifully soft, silky skin. It appears to have a slight luminosity to it, making the skin look instantly better. And a little goes a long way. I can see myself buying more of this now that it's a bit easier to come by, with Mecca Maxima opening soon in Wellington (just take all my money now....)

Tips: Not just for very dry skin. Even 'normal' skin will love this.

Holy Grail Shower/Massage Combo

When everyone was raving about Scrubee I was like 'It looks cute' but was put off by the scent as quite a few described the scent as being similar to Pot of Gold I think it was. I can't stand that smell but it was super cute and wanted to try it anyway (such a sucker for Lush and cute things).

When it arrived, I was actually a bit disappointed as it wasn't as big as the picture looked, so not a great start.

But wow, the smell is sooooo good. I can't really explain the scent, but I think you can smell a hint of honey along with cocoa butter. You can't really smell the almonds until you get down to the scrubby exfoliation part when the heat releases the scent. If you like Gold Fun, then you will love this as it is more similar to that than Pot Of Gold which actually makes me feel sick whenever I smell it. I also love the fact that you can still smell it on your skin for ages afterwards, even into the next day.

I was going to use it as a massage bar as that is what I thought it was (thats what happens when you don't read the instructions properly lol) however was told you use it in the shower. I was like WHAT?? lol

The shape is genious because it is actually quite easy to hold and apply. You get in the shower, and apply hot water to your skin before applying the Scrubee. I applied it in circular movements all over my body and my skin felt amazing, and left me feeling not only super hydrated but extremely relaxed.

The downside to Scrubee is that it doesn't last that long. If using all over your body, you will get about 2 uses, 3 if you are lucky. Or you can choose to target certain parts of your body like legs or arms, whichever you want to use it on which will make it last a lot longer.

The price tag is a bit high for such a small product but the after feeling is so worth it.

Tips: Before using Scrubee, if you have it, use Lush Twilight Shower Gel for an even more relaxing experience and do this before you go to bed. You have the most amazing sleep xx

wow only 3 uses for you? I've used mine at least 4 times now and I still have half left lmao

He he he I love it so much. I have 3 on the way to me and a friend just picked me up another 2 - oops major obsessed lol. I just wish it was bigger and not as pricey. But its definitely one that will never go to waste :-)

I bought three when it first came out but actually it's not my favourite. I find it too scratchy so will go back to Buffy once I've used them all.

The price tag is high. I couldn't bring myself to spend that much on a small bar that might not last long. It smells wonderful and I can see they hype with it. I'm tempted to try it once my current scrubs have been panned.

He he he I've just become recently obsessed with it and had it fresh in my mind when I wrote the review lol. I've just used up my second, have 3 more on the way and going to order another couple. I'm obsessed with Scrubee lmao.

I need to review it too but it takes me forever to get around to review. So I thought you'd beat me to it lol.

Ha ha ha what can I say, I'm addicted lol

How did I guess you would be the first person to review this!

If Austin Powers were a bath bomb...

He would be this one! This reminds me a lot of Austin Powers, purely for the fact that it's called Lava Lamp and looks very 70's. The color is gorgeous, bright orange with big purple spots, and to be honest, it looks like its name.

The smell of this bomb is pure Fanta. I wish I smelled something different, or at least something deeper, but when this is bubbling away in the bath I feel like I’m sitting in a few hundred litres of Fanta. I ain’t complaining cos I love Fanta, but it might not be for everyone.

In the bath the purple spots, which are actually wee bath melts, do what they do best and that is to melt! The result is a bright orange water with purple oil, and again, they hit the nail on the head with this because it looks JUST like a lava lamp. It leaves the skin feeling amazingly soft, but the smell doesn’t linger (at least not on me).

The one thing I strongly dislike about this bomb is the MESS the purple oils make! Good GRIEF this stuff is a mess! It stains the side of the bath, so every time you use it you have to clean the bath. With most LUSH bombs I don’t bother, but this one I had to get out some hot water and the scrubby brush. It honestly didn’t take much to remove but it was annoying how bad it stained.

Was this review useful to you? Yes No

Omg the mess! I still have some purple stains on the bath! I think this must be why it's being discontinued.

I wish this is what rain smelled like!

Lie, I don't. I am too much in love with the smell of rain on hot concrete to want to change the smells Mother Nature has gifted us. Once I was able to get my hands on this gel, I bought 2, not knowing if I’d like it. But this stuff DOES smell amazing, so I’m glad I got 2, and I’m glad NZ now has it!

The gel itself is thick, but still squeezes out like it’s supposed to. It coats the hands in such a glorious purple that you don’t notice the smell, but when you do! It’s so good. I have no idea what an umeboshi is, or how to say it without being ignorant, but I can tell you that its inclusion in this gel is perfection. The smell is sweet, yet tart, and oh so fruity. It’s so amazing in the morning to wake me up, or at night when I’m having a purple party in the shower.

This stuff lathers like a dream, the smell lingers on my skin and it doesn’t dry my skin out. In fact it makes my skin feel lovely and moisturized. I will definitely be repurchasing this delight.

Sadly did nothing for my skin

I was lucky enough to get this product in one of the beauty vaults a long time ago. I'm one of those skincare and makeup hoarders so it can take me ages to get around to using something! I have recently finished up this bottle so thought I better get on to reviewing it!

I'll start with packaging. I think this looks nice and sleek with a clear yellow glass bottle. It's good to be able to see how much product you have left. It has a eye dropper style of application. This works well for oils but I find this product is just a bit too thick and it was sometimes hard to get enough product. For about the last third of the bottle, it was pretty much impossible to use the dropper so I had to shake some out and would invariably get too much out so it was wasteful too.

The actual product smells incredible, it has a really nice light scent of fresh honey. The texture is slightly thick but also easily spreadable and a little goes a long way. I did find it felt slightly sticky on my face but it dried down quite quickly.

I used this product three times a week for about 3 or 4 months that the bottle lasted. I honestly noticed no change in my skin. I'm 31 with slight eye wrinkles and very dry skin. I didn't see any brightness, change of texture or just any general small change. I was quite dissapointed as I have used this brands night cream and really enjoyed that product.

I wouldn't purchase this with my own money and I can't recommend this either. Super sad because it's a NZ product and filled with so many good ingredients!

Benefit Dandelion Review

Too light to be effective

I have had this for quite a long time, although I don't use it very often. I picked it up in the Benefit Feeling Dandy kit. It came with the Dandelion lip gloss, High Beam, Posie Tint and a wee brush. I love that Benefit do these wee kits as it is a great way to learn if you like the products before buying full size, and also as usual with Benefit they come in the most super cute packaging. I have got the Hoola bronzer in the full box packaging though that this would come in full size and I actually hate it, it takes up heaps of room and I would never use the brush it comes with as they are super scratchy and not soft at all.

It is worth noting when you get this that Benefit call this a brightening face powder, not just a blush. They say that you can wear this as a soft blush or as an all over brightening finishing powder. Why would I use this as an all over face powder? I like to get rid of the redness in my skin not accentuate it with a pink all over face powder. Anyway... Also to note that I am super pale so most powders show up on me. The powder itself is quite powdery, as in when I put my brush into it a lot of the powder puffs up. The product is quite brightening on the cheeks, but doesn't actually show up as the colour in the pan as you would expect. I actually think this would be nicer on darker skin tones as it would show up more than it does on me.

Overall I'm not really impressed and will not be using as I like my blushes to be uber pigmented and show up on my skin. I'll be going back to my Hourglass Ambient Lighting blushes for the highlighting but pigmented blush look that I really like.

Very subtle

I had this firmly on my 'nope' list but ended up with a deluxe mini size when I picked up the Benefit 'First Class Flirts' kit at HK airport - pretty much simply because I had left over currency to use.

The smaller size comes in a small black plastic square case with a snap-up lid, emblazoned with the Dandelion logo in soft green and pink. This size is a little tricky to get at, as it's sunken down slightly and my blush brushes are a little larger than ideal for this particular product.

The cake is fine milled and close packed, and embossed with the word 'dandelion' (well until you use the top few layers up, anyway)

The shade in the case is a pretty, rosy pink that is very soft and subtle. On the skin it loses most of this.

I'm pretty pale at the moment, and I really struggle to get any impact from this product. It's pretty. It's sheer. It's subtle. But it has to be applied with other products to achieve any form of visibility, really. It's basically been relegated to my gym bag of stuff that's 'okay'.

Not shimmery/reflective enough to be a highlighter, and not pigmented enough to be a blush, but still somehow pretty enough for me to keep persisting.

Here's hoping that once I'm tanned it somehow adds a pretty glow to that :)

Tips: Experiment. Use it over blush or to set a cream highlighter or bronzer or something.

I've just reviewed this. Didn't work for me at all either.

Yep kirsty! We have such different colouring too. I wonder who this DOES suit perfectly?

That is so funny that our experiences are so similar!

Kissed from a Rose

During the lush boxing day sale I decided to throw in the All the Best Box into my haul. It wasn't on sale but it had everything in it that I wanted to try. What like about Lush is that it's vegan and is made from natural ingredients. The scent of their products smell amazing.

I got the 45 gram tub . Nice and small gives me an idea of whether I'm going to like this product or not. Like most Lush containers their black and white . Easy to open and close. The consistency of this body conditioner is smooth soft . Like a paste. The frangrance is a true rose scent. It's strong and fragrant.

I like to put this on towards the end of my shower. I find it easy to smooth over my body. I like to wait a couple of minutes to settle on my skin before washing it off. I tried putting it through my hair. I also tried shaving my legs with it and it works perfectly. I didn't try it as a body butter . But I will this coming week. I like to use this once a week after exfoliating my body .

My skin feels smooth and soft after using this. Normally my skin dries out after a shower . It didn't with so I'm pretty happy with it. I would like to purchase a larger sized pot. It is pricey for Lush but it's so worth it in fragrance and quality. I would happily reccomend this body conditioner to try out. Lush gives sample pots of products out. Their super handy for testing ..

I can see why it's permanently available to buy. I definately want to repurchase more.

This is probably my favourite Lush product. I bought a huge tub of it from Lush UK.
