These are amazing and so easy to use

After several reviews on youtube channels of the virtue of these sheet masks I searched high and low for them, finding them in The Warehouse I grabbed a box and must remember to go get another one soon!

Side note: my skin type is combination with slight on set of aging, tiny lines.

I thought that the value of money for a box of 5 sheets for under $25 was pretty good, especially here in NZ where it is normally overpriced. Each sheet mask is individually wrapped so you can easily chuck one in an overnight bag should you be travelling. Popping on one during a flight would be amazing to keep tired, overly dried skin at bay, relaxing too!

These masks are designed I am sure to make you look like a serial killer as you wear them. However, the cuts in the mask allow you to smooth it over the curve of your face and tuck in the edges, poking your nose out of the pre cut area and pull around the eye area. For me the mouth area fell over my chin as I have a small round head and these are designed to be a one size fit all product, but that is alright, I was able to make it work.

Backing the sheet mask is a really slippery serum that if you don't lie back will see the mask slip right off your face so you are forced to lie back and relax as it goes to work, if you want to keep doing something whilst the mask works then a sheet mask isn't for you. The instructions say leave on for up to 10 minutes, well I always get comfortable and either engrossed on catching up with social media or fall into a cat nap so it stays on longer, which isn't bad as it isn't a wash off type. Once you have had enough of the mask, simply remove it and throw away, there is a serum type moisture to your face that you need to just massage into your skin.

The following day wake up to wonderfully clear, clean and super plump hydrated skin that has a brightened, youthful appearance, even helps on those little lines around the eyes. This is a product I can see myself using for a while. I currently use 1 mask a week, although during that time of the month I did use it twice a week.

Just got some of these today- and then I check reviews! Really need to reverse that! Glad I won't be disappointed!!

I have put this on my wish list.

great review, I've never seen these masks before so I'll have to keep an eye out at the warehouse.

NYX Professional Makeup Matte Lipstick Review

Great range of colours

NYX’s matte lipsticks are one of my favourites. The packaging is not the most exciting compared to the coloured cases for NYX’s butter glosses and lipsticks, but the range of colours seems to make up for this! It comes in a matte black case where the middle is see-through to allow you to see the shade which in most cases is true to pan but I do find the pinks are slightly off.

My favourite shade is Strawberry Daquiri. In the tube it comes across as more of a strawberry pink but on my lips it’s a brown based coral pink which I really love. In general, the texture is surprisingly smooth so there is no tugging on the lips and you get a lovely even application. The pigmentation is vibrant so you would have to use a light hand if you wanted a more subtle coat of colour (though personally you’re better off with a butter lipstick in this case).

The lipstick doesn’t dry down to a typical matte finish, it has a slight sheen to it so I just blot it with a tissue. I don’t notice the product feathering too much because it does sit well on the lips. Without blotting, the lipstick lasts about 3 hours before it begins to fade. I can extend the wear time to 4 hours with blotting before fading and leaving a stain behind.

The lipsticks aren’t particularly drying however the more retouches I do during the day, my lips do become dry and usually I have to stop and put on lip balm – boring. I would recommend these lipsticks because they’re great dupes for high end lipsticks, they feel good on the lips and they last a decent amount of time (with blotting).

Thankfully Farmers stocks the brand so there’s no mistaking what the colour will look like against your skin but the majority of mine were bought prior to this through Makeup NZ and abroad. Unfortunately some shades are still not available in New Zealand but I’m sure you can find a shade that you’ll still love.

Fantastic pigmentation and lasting power

Ahhhh the velvetines - I can still remember the hype around these beautiful frosted tubes of colour with the fuchsia pink lid covered in hot pink roses. I really enjoy the shades and I've worn them several times whether it's to the office or a night out. Admittedly I have the more "tame" shades (in comparison to all the other crazy shades in the range) but they're still quite bold.

Red Velvet - a gorgeous blood red

Pink Velvet - a vibrant hot pink

Suede Berry - a coral based strawberry

Wicked - a dirty sangria

There's no room for sheer application with this lot, the opacity of the colours are just incredible - a swipe or two is all you need. One of the things I love about this product is that they don't take long to set so even if I'm in a rush I can quickly put it on knowing it will stay in place.

I love that they don't bleed or feather so I can skip the lip liner if I wanted to. They have fantastic lasting power, I remember the first time I wore it to work I kept checking my mirror to see if I needed to retouch and I did - AFTER 7 hours of wear! The colour stays vibrant for those 7 hours; so it's merely just fading around the edges but nothing blatantly obvious.

This product would have received top marks if it wasn't for the drying aspect. On the first day; there's probably just a bit of dryness on the lips but nothing that a lip conditioner can't fix. However what I noticed is that with consecutive days of use it actually just gets worse despite my best efforts to keep the dryness at bay.

If I know I'm going to wear this product or any drying lip product I always prep my lips the night before by using a lip exfoliator and lip conditioner and I repeat the process after I've removed the velvetine. Would I recommend this product? Absolutely I've gifted these to friends who love it just as much as I do.

My favourite is definitely Red Velvet. Lime Crime products used to be available in NZ however that changed not too long ago and you can only source it officially from the Lime Crime website.

Tips: Exfoliate lips and use lip conditioner before and after use of velvetine.

This is the kind of wave I like to ride!

This palette holds a very special place in my makeup collection, as a dear friend gifted it to me AND it was the very first palette I ever owned! I have no idea how I lived my life purely using single eyeshadows? I guess the same way that I used to live without primer - eek!

The packaging is a stunning, sturdy gold case with a gigantic mirror so is perfect for travel. The double ended brush it comes with is surprisingly good, so again, great for travel as you can just use the brush it comes with (which is almost never the case!).

The shadows themselves are gorgeous! Amazing colour selection and every single colour has crazy pigmentation going on. A couple of the shades are a bit powdery, but that's quite common these days with uber pigmented shadows.

I do wish there was a neutral, all over base colour in the palette, as I have to take that separately when travelling, but other than that I love it! If you can still get your hands on it then I would highly recommend to anyone that's after a good quality, neutral, with a pop of colour palette :)

Tips: Use the shadows wet to intensify the colour, for an even more dramatic look.

Karen Murrell Lipstink ln Orchid Bloom

The catch phrase "Nothing nasty touches my lips" is a sure sign that these lipsticks are full of goodness and nothing nasty. They are natural and dont contain bad things and so probably everyone could wear them.

This colour is an amazing nude and it is one of those colours that could possibly suit most lips. It is creamy and moisturising. The finish is not quite a full matte, is has a wee shimmer to it. There is also a cinnamon fragrance to this lippy, which some might not enjoy, but I have fo say it dosent last as long as the colour so if its not your favourite scent you might be able to manage it for a little while.

The colour lasts really well. I tend to touch up after eating.

I feel this is great value for money, there are lovely colours in Karens collection. Really worth a look.

Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara Review

My all time favourite mascara

I had been saving up my money waiting for a good quality eye shadow palette. I splurged and got myself the Double Exposure palette. In it was a deluxe sample size of this mascara. I enjoy deluxe products because you can try it out before committing to a full size. We all know that most of the full sized high end products cost a lot of money so its always great to test it first.

Smashbox deluxe sized mascara comes in as a miniature version of the full sized mascara. This bottle is black and sleek. It has the Smashbox labelling on it with a red cross going through it. Simple but striking. This brush has small bristles carefully compacted together in a cone shape . This mascara is jet black in colour. No scent at all.

When I dip this wand in it comes out clean. No clumpy bits all over it or little black bits like I have had with other sample sized mascaras. These bristles on this wand cling to my lashes perfectly. My lashes are elongated and emphasised nicely. I managed to get four solid hours wear time out of this . Did fade out but it didn't seep down to my lower under eyes. This is what normally happens with every other mascara I use.

Overall it is priced highly. If I had a never ending cash flow I would definitely buy this again. But I don't . I've had it for a few weeks now and there's still no clumps happening in this formula. I'm highly impressed with Smashbox and I can't wait to try more products from this brand, but I may need to save up for it as it is pricey.

I really enjoyed this more than my benefit mascara dare I say.

I have wondered what this mascara is like, thanks for your review Macs

Smashbox

Love this pallete its great for smokey eye looks blends awesomely . Love how when you add a little liquid and the colour changes to more shimmer glittery metallic colours, i love playing around with the colours. The brown shades love them, I use fig and espresso just a little to contour and noir the black gives the ultimate black smokey eye. If you love playing around with make up to find the perfect look this palletes great to start with a bit pricey but again worth it.

Tips: It has a few purple plum colours in it mauve, temper and haze a little of one of those blanc and noir you can make the perfect blended smokey eye white inner purple middle black outer. Once choose three are on eyelid pat in between colours with a clean flat brush to blend colours then with a fluffy brush your want to softly brush above the eyelid on the crease move the colour around start from inner outwards, then with the flat brush pat more colour on top of eyelid with the flat brush because some would have moved around from the fluffy brush then repeat the fluffy process you don't want to press to hard when doing the fluffy brush bit or too high try keep in the mid crease area. Once done line eye apply lashes and clean up eye area with concealer. Perfect smokey eye .:)

Its Smashing!

As a birthday present to myself I decided to get myself a proper high end pallette. I was deciding between this and the Urban Decay Smoked but I finally settled on this pallette. I got my two pallettes through a facebook group that imports products here to nz. I was so over the moon to finally have some good quality eye shadows.

This Eye shadow pallette comes in a Black Box with the eye shadow names listed on the back. Inside this is a guide that shows different eye looks for day and night wear. There is a double ended brush that comes with this. This brush is a deep red colour has a sturdy handle with soft bristles carefully compacted together. This eye shadow pallette is a sturdy Cardboard with a large sized mirror attached on the back of the lid. Each eye shadow has a name. Unfortunately its not named below each shadow but is featured inside the leaflet and the outer side of the box it came in. In this colour pallette it has rose golds, taupes and deep purples and neutral tones. Theres fourteen colours but they transform into 28 colours. This eye shadow pallette can be used both wet and dry. I do notice that the colours are bolder when used wet. The consistency of these shadows is pigmented when wet. These eye shadows are buildable when dry. No scent at all with these eye shadows.

I like to use the brush that came with this pallette. My favourite shades are Midnight (a deep midnight Blue), Temper (deep purple) and Flushed (rose gold) . I find the deeper tones dont need much work blending when dry. The lighter shades do need building. In both wet and dry wear these stayed on my lids all day without eye shadow primer. Hooray! Finally an eye shadow pallette that lasts.

I forgot to mention that I recieved a deluxe sized smashbox mascara. I've tried this and I really enjoyed it. I've managed to make alot of make up looks with this eye shadow pallette. I definitely don't regret purchasing this at all. It was worth every cent I spent on it. If your into this kind of colour pallette I would definitely reccomend it. It is pricey but worth its price tag. So far with the products Ive tried to date Smashbox has not disappointed me. I'd happily buy more products from them.

Hydrating Mist Toner

OK, in all honesty when I opened my NZ Brands Best Beauty Box ever and saw the Hydrating Mist Toner from Trilogy I kind of looked at it and went 'Huh? What in the world is this?'

Do I question it now?! Nope. I did google it and read more into it.

This Trilogy product comes in a brown frosted glass bottle with the trilogy sticker wrapped around it. A spritz applicator which is where the idea of the 'mist' comes from.

This product smells of roses a subtle scent of roses. It reminds me of walking through my Nana's rose gardens as a child. Such a beautiful smell.

I started using it in the mornings just holding it back from my face and spraying 2-4 times. I usually moisturise my face in the mornings or during the day when I feel my face is a bit dry or just before I do my makeup. So instead I tried this as it's mean't to hydrate the skin.

With 2-4 squirts of basically what feels like water on your face I go about my morning and let it dry. It drys like nothing. Not tacky. Not moisturised. Not sticky. Literally just vanishes into your skin

This I did feel hydrated my skin but I needed to moisturise. Hydrate? At the time yes but once dried and vanished I needed moisturiser. I started using it only in the mornings but found myself spraying my face during the day with it at random wjen my skin needed it and just because it felt amazing on my skin as well. I only did/do this on non makeup days :)

J'adore by Dior Review

One of my favourites

I absolutely love this perfume and it’s one you’ll find in my small collection often.  I have bought this for myself a number of times and received it as gifts (sets or individual) since it was released and each time it never failed to take me to a wonderful place of delicious notes.  This was one of my high school perfumes; some would say it’s a waste but for me perfume is to be used.

It's pricey yes but you really are paying for what you get and if I met a rather hasty demise tomorrow atleast I know that I didn’t waste my money.  It comes in a pristine white box with gold lettering – seriously the packaging is luxurious and nothing short of elegant.  It’s in a lovely simple round bottle (when the lid is off) with a rather tall golden top and a round clear ball with J’adore embossed inside.

One of the things I love the most about the scent is that it's quite buttery with a hint of powderiness in the notes. There is a lovely blend of very light musk, sweet citrus and florals. I find that there is a subtlety to this perfume where it's not overpowering but there is enough fragrance left behind when you walk past others.

The longevity isn’t as long as you would expect from an EDP but the subtlety of notes that lingers behind makes up for it.  For me this perfume always creates an ambiance of calm around me; I love how the scent just puts me at ease and I just feel so clean when I get a whiff of it.

Admittedly the smell of J'adore today smells different to the one I wore prancing around in the school courtyard many moons ago but I still appreciate that this fragrance is one of a kind. It's quite a popular perfume but I don't often "smell" it around. Do I get sick of the scent sometimes?  Yes but I’m spritz-happy so it’s only natural that I would however I would never say no to owning this.

I haven't come across many that haven't loved it - if you get the chance maybe take a whiff of it at a counter :-)

This sounds like something I would love
