About Me I love beauty and makeup, and learning about (and trying!) new products as well as tips. I have just started up a food and beauty blog so would love to be able to review new and tried and tested products! I have quite unruly curly hair which I bleach and straighten everyday and am very very fair- which makes finding a good foundation match quite difficult!

Smoothly does it

I seem to have quite a collection of eyeliners- pencil and liquid, but I've never tried a gel one. As my current liner was due to be chucked out this was opened up pretty quickly. I picked my standard black colour. I've just been getting into trying winged liner and this is super easy to use on my top lid. It glides with no tugging and creates precise lines with no smudging. During the week I tightline my waterline on my lower eyes and this liner is also perfect for this. It has good colour payoff and lasts all day without smudging. I like that it just twists up with no need for sharpening, making my morning easy. The only downside is that a decent sized chunk snapped off when I first started using it which was a shame! I really like this liner and it is great for everyday use as well as experimenting with wings if you are a newbie like me.

Tips: Be gentle- as it does seem to snap quite easily and you don't want to waste this lovely eyeliner!!

Also wanted to add that another piece broke off last night and that seemed to be the end of it! Didn't last very long at all - lovely liner tho!

Whoops I forgot to put in that I got this in the September Beauty Box!

Platinum blonde

I was super lucky to receive this in the September BRBB. I had just run out of toner so it was perfect timing. It's been years since I have used a blonding mousse so I was so excited to give this a try.

The can is like, well like a can of mousse. Do people even use mousse anymore?

The directions say to apply to towel dried hair, then rinse. After washing my hair I wring out as much water as I can then carefully dry it with a towel. I grab the can spray out about the size of a tennis ball and apply to my hair after 5 minutes I wash it out and then condition my hair because it's dry and toners can sometimes leave my hair knotty and manky looking.

Once my hair is dry it definitely looks refreshed and my hair does look platinum blonde. It is almost white! I was also amazed at how soft my hair felt afterwards I thought it could have been the conditioner I was using at the time but I have swapped conditioners and still have super soft hair. Overall a really nice toner especially if you do have/like the platinum blonde hair

Sarah mines also sitting unused for this same reason! I asked my hair dresser and she said it should be ok to use but I think I'll do a patch test underneath just to be careful. Loving the reviews though they all sound very positive!

Woohoo! I was waiting for a review on this, thank you! Mine has been sitting in my bathroom untouched for fear of it turning my hair yellow lol. Will use this when I wash my hair tomorrow :)

Love love love!!!

I am all positives for this fab bubble bar wand! Not only is it fun to use, but it makes mounds of bubbles and smells divine!! I've used this for about 3 baths so far and it looks hardly used! It makes soooo many bubbles, making bath time feel like your in a hollywood movie! It colours the water pink and has the sweet scent of Snow Fairy. I think the swishing action of it being on a wand contributes to its many bubbles. The awesome thing is the bubbles last for ages too so you don't have to worry about them disappearing as soon as you hop in. I will def be buying this again and reckon it will easy do 10 plus baths as you don't need to use heaps! Go and try it out!!

Tips: Make sure you stand it in an upright position in a dry place (I stand mine in a mug) to dry out before putting it away to make sure it doesn't go crumbly due to it being damp. To use, just swish the wand under running water for heaps of bubbles!

This smells amazing and looks so cute! A great thing you can use this sparingly :)

You will love it!! So much fun to use as well!!

I ordered one for my daughter for Christmas, so pleased I did after reading your review <3 she is going to love it (and I might have to steal a bath out of it too (because I am addicted to snow fairy as well) :)

I brought this online the other day, Can't wait for it to arrive after reading your review

[DISCONTINUED] L'Oreal Paris Revitalift Magic Blur Review

So disappointing...

I was filled with hope leading into trying this product. I'd seen a couple of good reviews online so when I found it on special, I eagerly pounced and bought it.

Now I wish I hadn't wasted my money. To start with, it comes out of the tube like frothy whipped cream, splattering and generally looking fairly unappealing. It's as if the product has been overwhipped and it doesn't make it easy to carefully press out only a small amount.

I have to admit that it does feel nice on my skin. It's a slippery silicon-based product so my skin did feel smoother after using it, but no more so than when I use my cheap ELF primer. And unlike the ELF primer, which provides a nice smooth base for my makeup, I found that the L'Oreal product frequently balled up as I applied my usual makeup over the top and I was left with small 'shavings' of foundation or BB cream across my face. This was definitely not what I wanted.

I also failed to see any difference between my skin with the Revitalift applied and without. I definitely didn't notice any blurring or smoothing, despite trying it on half my face at a time and also asking the opinions of several trusted friends.

I'm sorry, but it did nothing for me and I certainly won't be purchasing it again.

Tips: There are better options out there. I wouldn't recommend this product.

I got pilling too. Not a good look.

I also have this issue with applying foundation over top of this product ! I use a liquid foundation and when i use the cream underneath my foundation goes really funny and forms little ball type things rather than going on smoothly ...

Wonderful finish but could be longer lasting

This is a great makeup and as far as I have been told it has been discontinued in NZ and Australia but is still available elsewhere and I have sourced some online. I wear the shade buff and it is the perfect match for me - it is a bit lighter than the old colorstay shade of buff (before they reformulated it with the pump bottle) and is a bit paler which works better for me as I always had to mix ivory/buff in the colorstay range to get a good match. This comes in a classy clear cylindrical bottle with a pearlescent lid. Simple but classy but I would prefer a pump as I have to keep this upside down to be able to use it properly. The consistency is quite thick and it is hard to get it to run out of the bottle once it is past the halfway mark. The texture is very creamy, it glides on and blends beautifully with my fingers (I don't like brushes or sponges) and it looks very natural. Medium finish I suppose and the spf 20 is a nice addition. No shimmer and sets nicely with a powder. My only gripe is it isn't particularly long lasting and it does wear off during the day so I wear colorstay when I need something more durable. However this is great just to dab on where coverage is needed on casual days and I definitely really love it since I am on my fourth bottle of this. It does last a really long time and I get about a years use out of a bottle and I was quite surprised that this is so well suited to my dry skin as this is an oil controlling makeup and oil-free and I usually use makeup for mature/dry skintypes so perhaps it wouldn't be the best for truly oily skin. If you can find this then go for it I really think it's a great quality foundation especially for the price!

Yay- glad to read a review on this, as I just ordered a bottle off the NZ sale website last week. I usually use colorstay but at $10 on sale thought I would try this one too and see how it compares :)

Pureology Perfect 4 Platinum Shampoo and Conditioner Review

Perfect for Platinum range

This shampoo range appears expensive but it truly is very concentrated. If you use it as directed it is more economical than you think. This shampoo and conditioner worked well on my hair while highlighted but not so great when I went full on platinum, I needed the extra boost of the hair masque in place of the conditioner which was more expensive. If used regularly this range leaves blonde hair shiny and healthy, and it's a rare thing for blonde hair to be shiny! The perfume is light so not over powering like some others in the Pureology range can be.

Tips: On the top of the bottles is a logo, that's the size of how much you need to use, anymore and you're washing mountains of foam out of your hair which is a waste of money and time.

I'm going to be trying out this shampoo and conditioner tonight, looking forward to seeing if it brightens my colour. I'll definitely use that logo tip for the amount to use :)

Packaging Scent and Longevity.

first off all, how cute is this packaging? How amazing is this scent? it can last me a good 10 Hr day! I get so many compliments on this! I am normally one to go for the smaller sizes first to "try and buy" this was a impulse buy and I bought the big size, I am lucky I did because I wear this probably 4 times a week!

Whoo- I just bought a 50mL bottle and can't wait to start wearing it! I've tried it on a few times in the shops and loved it- so glad to hear it lasts all day !

As good as it gets

I am in love with this deodorant. For years I have suffered with wet underarms and stained clothing and of course that embarrassing odour on occasion. I have tried I think everything but to no avail. This is amazing for me. I know the price is quite prohibitive for some but I am willing to forgo something else to buy this. It is rich and creamy which leaves my underarms very moisturized. I dont get a whiff of body odour or wet patches which gives me confidence. The fragrance is long lasting and quite nice, maybe a bit overpowering for some, but I dont mind it. The only thing I would say is to be careful when you are getting dressed because it can leave white marks (which other deodorants have done as well).

Tips: It is thick and creamy so follow the instructions as you really dont need much.

I've been thinking about buying this but was a bit turned off by the price!! Would be interested in seeing how long it lasts for you and whether you think its good value for money!

Lime Crime Quill

After using Lime Crime valvetines, and loving the staying power, eye liner was the next on my hit list.

The packaging is super cute! A small, slim plastic container. The lip makes it stand out in your makeup collection.

The applicator bush surprised me. It's skinny yet long. It's great! It means it is easy to lay flat along the lash line for a super close, smooth and clump free look.

The formula.... It has a very very slight hint of a fragrance, almost fruity. It doesn't react with my skin or burn my eyes. It stays put well and truly for a full day, morning through to bed easy.

One negative I have is it's not waterproof. I found out the hard way. Was laughing so hard at my kids & hubby I was crying. Quite a few hours later I see these big smears of black under my eyes! I hadn't looked in a mirror & APPARENTLY the family thought I was trying a new look!

The colour Quill is a very black. It's amazing. Even stays looking sort of wet, but it's totally dry. I also have orchidaceous a gorgeous purple. It dries darker than expected Tip for applying, I hold the brush under my lower lashes, mid lash, pressing against the lash, slide down to the lid & slide it to the outer eye. Do the same with the top lashes, it gives a close line to the lash

Tips: Apply then add a eyeliner pencil over in a colour. It makes the lashes look longer

Jalb88 I would wear it under my bottom lash line and also tight along the top lash line. Sometimes with a wing and other time without. The brush makes it super easy to get really close to the lash line. A neutral eye to show it off, or Bold!

I got given the orchidaceous one as a gift but haven't worn it yet- would love some inspiration on looks i could do with this! :)

Aney37 you should. I have two now and love them :)

Sounds good. Really wanting to buy this now! :)
