Gel Lip Pencil

I received this item in a BBBE box and as with all of the other Mellow products, I love it. It is so easy to apply and sets so well on the lips. I got the colour Rose, which looks quite brown until applied. It is such a nice, nude colour. I think I'll wear it every day!

Tips: Add this to your Mellow collection, you won't be disappointed!

On the fence with this one

This cute little eyecream came in a jar. It's pretty, it's luxurious, but it's so impractical. Why on earth force the user to dip their finger into the pot when a tube or even a pump bottle would allow much more precise control of the amount of product you get out. I tried using a spatula to scoop some product, but that still felt wasteful when transferring it onto my finger then onto my eyes.

Onto the actual cream itself. It's nonscented and extremely thick. You only really need a TINY amount for the whole eye area, (another reason I hate the jar type packaging). It's smooth and somewhat calming when applied, and it's almost like an eye massage as I rub this in gently. I feel like it helps plumpen the skin in the area without any irritation. At least in my mind the skin around my eyes are a little bouncier after using this. I also put this on the crow-feet area because you can never start prevention too early! It didn't do much in terms of dark circles when I had bad sleep or the fine lines.

For me eyecream isn't the most vital thing in my skincare, so I wouldn't have included this unless I noticed it working magic. There's so much product that this can easily last me till next year, so hopefully some long term effects start popping up as I continue to use it. For now though, I'm a little conflicted. It feels nice to apply, and somewhat helps with hydration, but it's not a holy grail that I can't live without.

Yep, but I didn't like the amount of product that the spatula picked up so I'm using my finger.

Mine came with a little black applicator...dipping fingers into jars is just gross.

Trilogy Sensitive Range Review

I was so stoked to be one of the lucky to trial this range. 1, because Trilogy is such a reputable and quality brand and 2, my skin can be a real issue so in the hopes of finding a range that would not only not cause my skin irritation but would also nourish and protect, yes of course, where do I sign! First off, recieving such a lovely bundle of heavenly Trilogy products is quite spesh! There is a cleanser, calming serum, oil, eye cream, mask and moisturiser. The glass bottles and jars look and feel quality and I love that I will be able to either recycle, or mostly reuse! Each item has hygiene in mind...the pumps on the cleanser and the serum, a dropper top for the oil and little plastic applicators for each of the jars. The cleanser removed all of my make up and was gentle enough to remove my eye make up. It is a lovely creamy colour and consistencycle. It comes in a generous sized brown, glass bottle with pump. The Calming Serum is perfect for when your skin is irritated, itching or red. It is in a small glass bottle with a wee pump dispencer. It did find it difficult to depress just a small amount and found dispensing it into my cupped hand prevented it going everywhere. You only need a small amount, so i did waste some. The Oil is my favourite...I am a fan of oils and this one is soothing, hydrating and protective. I made a wee routine of applying the serum in the AM, under moisturiser and then apply the oil at night under the moisturiser. I love it! The Eye cream comes in a little glass pottle and is such a lovely product! It freshens, soothes and nourishes your delicate eye area. Just be mindful not to apply higher than your eye (orbital) bone. The Moisturiser comes in a larger glass jar and as with the eye cream, comes with a plastic applicator for hygiene. It definitely moisturises and protects the skin, but for me it has been such a good base for my foundation. I dont wear a lot for mahi but I do like it to stay put...it does now! The Mask is so decadent, and feels like a body butter...probably due to its yellow colouring. Its so nice to apply and absorbs into the skin. I use a compress facial towel to remove with tepid water. Its a fantastic range and I will definitely be purchasing for myself after I have finished with the trial products.

Tips: Please read each product review for a fuller assessment. If you have stressed, sensitive, flaky, irritated skin from environmental factors then this is the product range for you. PS- my daughter developed a topical dermatitis type rash on an area of her face, nothing soothed it until I gave her the Calming Serum...bam, gone!

Dr Lewinns Reversaderm Complete System Review

You had me at Dr Lewinns!

I absolutely could not believe that I was one of the lucky reviewers for this product range! I think I even let out a squeal! step 1 – The Cleanser. I dampened my skin with warm water prior to applying. It’s a really light, creamy product so don’t expect it to foam. To be honest, it felt so light that I didn’t think much of it but I felt results from the very first application, my skin felt smoother.

step 2 – The Peel. This is to be used every second day. I ended up doing a schedule on my phone because I quickly forgot what day I was on. This product contains such delicious active ingredients that you feel the results immediately. I have used salon and at-home peels before and have experienced very strong tingling to very light. I would describe this as a short tingle which soon dissipated and was very comfortable to have on. I let the gel preparation sit on my skin for 25 minutes. step 3 – The Serum. This is probably my favourite step… it feels gorgeous and silky on such fresh skin. The serum looks a pearly cream colour and is quite light to the touch. I love the wee fat bottle, so cute! This absorbs quite rapidly into my dehydrated skin but it leaves it feeling soft and loved.

step 4 – The Regenerative Cream. This moisturizer comes in a very handy pump container so it’s much cleaner and cost effective as you only pump as much as you need. I tend to do not quite a full pump in the morning and then a full one at night. It absorbs nicely into the skin but sometimes after the peel, I still feel would not quite hydrated enough.

step 5 – The Mask. This is such a nice, light purplish mask that feels refreshing and hydrating. I really looked forward to my ‘mask’ nights as it was a good time to sit back and relax. I would also do my teeth whitening as well… bonus! My skin was left feeling hydrated, smoother and clear. It has a cooling effect on the skin and is the only mask that didn’t redden my skin after removal, it actually had the opposite effect! This is to be used once a week. My skin is dry and sensitive, pigmented and dull. I thoroughly loved using the Reversaderm program and recommend it to anyone looking for a quality at-home range. I have been quite neglectful of my skincare lately so I really enjoyed the extra love and commitment I was giving my skin, however in saying that, it was not arduous or lengthy and totally doable in our fast paced lives. If you are a bit forgetful like me then I highly recommend writing up a wee schedule for peel days. My skin is so much more hydrated than before, it has a fresher tone to it. Make up is much easier to apply and I was grateful that I had no break outs during this period. There was no irritation and is a perfect product for reviving your skin before an important event, such as a wedding or in my case, an overseas trip!

Tips: Tip: Don’t apply cleanser higher than your eye socket because it will sting if it gets in your eyes. Tip: Let your skin dry after cleansing, prior to applying the Peel. Do not apply on any open skin, like a pimple, ouchies. Tingling is normal, burning is not!! Tip: Don’t miss the serum step, your skin will love you for it. It has a handy dropper but I noticed that no product was coming out when I first used it and a little harden bit of serum had blocked it. A quick rinse resolved the issue Tip: Definitely wear sunblock as the range contains no SPF factor and you don’t want to undo all that good work

Hi Nicolef, my skin becomes sensitive due to environmental factors but my main skin concern is dehydration & pigmentation. I had no issues with this product, but I am familiar with using AHAs. I would definitely recommend doing a patch test in store.

Hi Ngahew, I see that you have sensitive skin. Were you concerned at all about using such a high percentage of aha? I've been reading the revieasiest and they all sound great but sensitivity is an issue for me also.

Nivea Q10 Replenishing Pearls

Alrighty! Well I was super excited to try this product! I don't really have major wrinkles but I do have a few fine lines and things so I was excited to start using something that may help get rid of them! I quite like this product, it smells yum and is easy to use. The packaging is pretty cool, you can see the "replenishing pearls" in the bottle. There is a pump that you just push down and the product comes out. On the packaging it does state that you can use as a base for make up which actually worked really well for me as it provided a smooth, matte surface :). One negative however would be that the actual product looked a bit like yellow, chunky vomit which was pretty off putting but it smelt nice so it was ok haha! I was expecting the pearls to smush down a bit more to actually be like a serum which is what the packaging states it is but hey, the smell saves it!! Overall I did notice a subtle difference to my fine lines around my eyes but nothing hugely noticeable, but I will continue using it and see what happens!! = watch this space :D

Tips: Don't get put off by the consistency, it's totally ok! :)

I'm keen to give this a try...I'm not even put off by the "yellow, chunky vomit" texture! Hehe Would you recommend it for dry skin types?

Silk'n Glide 150k HPL Review

I love you...Silk 'N Glide xxx

There was lots of whooping & holloring in my house when this trial product arrived. It was all systems go and, "where do I start"!! Hold on Tiger... read dem instructions like a good kiwi always does! Okaayyyy... here we go...First thing I noticed about the Silk n Glide was that its purple!! nice, my fav colour :-) It has its own little case which houses the HPL unit, the power cable and a pocket with a cloth & the instructions. The unit is prob a little bigger than your palm and with little hands was a tad tricky for me to use at times but I managed. I read the instruction book from cover to cover, and then several more times after that, being a bit nervous & excited didn't help but I just so wanted to get it right. The manual suggests that for full hair removal, it will take approx 18mnths to 2 yrs… eekk!! I thought. So much for thinking it was going to be a quick fix, lol. The reasoning behind this is a couple of things. 1st, that is roughly the life cycle of a hair follicle according to them and 2, it's such a small area that you are treating each time, I can see how it could take that long as you have to leave quite some time between treatments. To use: The area must be shaved first and no lotions or potions to be put on the skin either before or straight after treatment. Their suggested hair removal plan: treatments 1-4 - plan two weeks apart treatments 5-7 - plan four weeks apart treatments 8+ - treat as needed, until desired results are achieved. So, I have done 5 treatments on legs & underarms, 3 on bikini line area and 2 on upper lip area with varying degree of success.

Tips: Legs - going great, I now don't shave in between treatments. I noticed a difference pretty much straight away, the hairs were slow to grow back. Now, after 5 treatments there are some definite ‘bare’ patches. To do a full leg it takes me up to an hour and you have to focus or you will forget where you up to! Underarms - I think this area is going to be more of a battle than I anticipated. To start with it appeared the hair actually grew back thicker! I guess this hair is so much coarser than my legs it will take longer to achieve a result. No bare patches as yet but it's an easy area to treat, only takes a few mins so is easily managed after an evening shower. Lady garden - definitely after the 3rd treatment the hair growth has slowed down. This is one area I'm totally committed to getting every single little hair! I really hate having to maintain this area and shaving always gives me such a rash. With the Silk ‘n Glide, its quick, clean and eventually I'm not going to have to worry about hair growth at all! Upper lip - This really made me anxious. Its such a delicate area and the manual says to make sure you don't get the light near your delicate lip area which makes it quite challenging to make sure you have it positioned in the right spot. I have issues with this area too as I'm a pluckaholic and REALLY struggle to leave hairs alone. The manual says to not pluck anything so I have to leave it alone for a few days in order to have enough hair to shave off (another eekk moment, I don't want to ‘shave’ ).

One thing I wondered about was how long would the light last? Would I be able to do this full 18mth-2yr treatment without the light needing to be replaced? I had a look up on their website l and eventually found out the number of the product (Silk ‘n Glide 150,000k) means that's how many pulses it will put out before it's used up and also from all the info, that amount of pulses is enough for at least two full body treatments. I could not find anywhere what happens then and I did email them but got no reply. I guess for the price tag of $599, if you have done 2 full bodies then you have definitely got your money’s worth. PROS =Start seeing results in a short space of time =Eventually, I will be hair free (HUGE pro) =its pain free (well, almost. You can get a little =stinging on the higher settings) =Very cost effective if you were planning IPL =Can do any time CONS =a bit awkward to handle =It can not be used on very dark or very tanned skin =takes a long time to do your legs =takes a long time to do the complete treatment =the light is bright...DON'T LOOK! =stay focussed, or you will lose your place!

Do I think its worth it? YES! for that kind of result you would pay $1000’s at a salon, being able to do it at home is a huge bonus but you have to make the time and stay focussed. I would definitely and have already recommended this to friends.

Awesome review - you've sold me! I just can't find where to buy one and how to manage to secure it for less than $600. Even though it sounds worth the price, it's a lot of cash...

Thanks Ngahew :-) Congrats on your win! Yes you definitely need to be dedicated thats for sure.

Awesome review! I was lucky enough to win one of these and have been happily zip zapping since! I need to be a bit more regular though...

I was wondering what this product was like. Fab review, glad you love it!

Thanks Macs :-)

Awesome review.

Magic in a tube!

After falling in love with their mineral powder foundation, I brought a sample of the liquid they sell. For me the sample was enough to use 3 times applied with a brush. I was hooked!

I brought the shade 3. It arrived in a toothpaste kind of tube. It was weird to be honest. You take the lid off and it's a skinny tip, when you squeeze it, it comes out fast enough to conto when to stop the amount you need.

I put lines on my cheek, chin and forehead. I get a flat ended brush and blend blend blend! It doesn't sting, itch or annoy my sensitive skin!

It leaves my skin looking polished and just flawless! If I have extra redness I can add more and build up the colour. Or even add concealer over top for flawless looking skin.

It doesn't stick to my dry bits and if I add a rich moisturizer under, it leave my skin looking dewy. If I don't, it looks natural not matte and dry.

I'm not sure what lovely ingredients are in there, but I can wear this everyday and my skin feels lovely! Like I'm adding something nice on my skin not a foundation.

I love how the tube is soft and you will be able to get all the product out unlike foundation bottles! I use a setting powder over it if I want a more matte look. Even using a highlighter works as well.

I highly recommend this if you have problem skin like me. Love that it's NZ made and owned and kind to our fur babies!

Tips: Try a sample, they come in half shades which will be great so change of seasons. Blend blend blend with a flat ended brush for perfection

Scents to die for

These candles are just gorgeous, they optimise luxury and are one of the most fragrant candles I have ever owned. My preferred scent is Lychee Flower which is so delicate and fresh, when I burn it my house fills with the beautiful aroma and I love that even when you are not burning the candle the fragrance lingers.

The packaging is exquisite, it really is worth the money in my opinion.

lashings of lashes

I like my lashes dark, thick and long...I do so many coats that it becomes a bit ridiculous... and I have sadly realised that I am not of an age that can wear long, spidery, thick lashes. Depressing right?! I received the Moisture Mist Impressive Lash Mascara in my Beauty Review BB and had intentions of gifting it to my mum... because it looks like a 'MOM' kind of product. But since realising the depressing truth that my make up application is actually aging me, I thought I would give this product the once over. Oh my, I am so glad that I did! The brush is, well, a little boring....I am used to those big, over the top, super booster, tarty brushes so I had to really convince myself that this was going to be ok. I few swipes later and I am a changed woman. Lovely long, very separated lashes and super soft to boot. No more panda eyes, drag queen replication here... oh no sir! The formula is lovely and smooth, no clumpy clumps! Ooooh and after crying happy tears about how fluttery and age appropriate my eye make up is now, I found out it is waterproof too!

Tips: Please update the packaging!
