Mumof3Munchkins

REVIEW EXPERT

About Me Hi all, I'm a Mum to three Munchkins - two boys aged 13 and 11, and a little girl aged 9 going on 18 lol. I work for a Logging truck company full-time where I am the only female working there, so I am kind of a tom boy but still love to dress up if and when I get the chance. In my spare time I run a Scentsy business and have a full-time addition to Lush lol. I love being part of Beauty Review because I have had so many opportunities to trial new products that I usually wouldn't consider trying. I feel so lucky to be part of such an amazing community xxx

A Pro At Detangling

When I received this brush and tried it for the first time I already knew I wanted to give it 5 stars. However to be fair and give it a good trial I wanted to test the brush in different ways, one which involved my 9 year old daughter.

The first thing I noticed was how light the brush was and such a great shape which made it super easy to hold and at the same time comfortable to use. The design is super cute but professional looking at the same time.

Test 1: Little Miss Avalon's Hair - The first time I tried the brush, I used it on my little girl. The reason I signed up for the trial was because of her. Her hair type is of a medium thickness and gets super knotty. It was easy to use on her hair, and usually she complains about her hair hurting no matter how gentle I try to be. She hardly complained and it did a very good job with her hardly flinching. Result: There was hardly any complaining what do you think? lol

Test 2: My Hair - Dry: Next I tried the brush on my hair when it was dry and I had just woken up, so it was kind of bird nesty and knotty. The brush was able to glide through the hair without hardly causing me to flinch. A couple of times it did catch and pull a bit but nowhere near as my usual Avon brush. Result: Very good on dry knotty hair.

Test 3: Wet/Washed Towel Dried Hair: Firstly I washed my hair (using the same products I always use to make sure I wasn't doing anything different than I normally do). After towel drying I used the brush and it just went through smoothly, no knots and it was fully brushed in about a minute. Pretty impressive.

Test 4: Used After Hair Drying: Now here is the true test. Usually when I dry my hair with a hair dryer it literally has a mind of its own and just looks like a big hot mess. Apart from a few pulls here and there, I hardly noticed I was even brushing it and I had to keep checking that it was even brushing my hair. And it certainly was.

Overall Results: This brush is amazing and is now our Holy Grail brush.

I highly recommend you get this brush for you, for your kids, for whoever. At this price it is a steal. Thanks so much Beauty Review for inviting me to trial this brush, we love it xx

Dare I say it?

Two words, uttered in excitement with eyes sparkling and heart pounding. Holy Grail. To be honest, I wasn't expecting this product to climb the ranks so fast, especially only after one use. However the more I continued to use it, the more I fell into the rabbit hole.

I have a deluxe sample size, so I can't comment on how the full sized packaging looks. The size I have though, it's small yes, but you only need a small amount, maybe pea sized, and as I've been mixing and experimenting with another CC cream, I've needed less. It has a lid that twists off and I would recommend that you do this carefully as the product tends to come out - it is excited to see you too!

I have the shade 'light'. I don't think it accurately matches my skin tone, but without forking out the $50 odd dollars for the full sized and lightest shade, I'll have to make do. The cream is surprisingly creamy, and to be honest when it's on my face it really does feel like its been whipped, it's so soft! It spreads really easily and blends nicely with a beauty sponge (I'm using a RT one).

It's not a full coverage product but sometimes I find it hard to believe it's not - it covers my face wonderfully and hides most of my redness and "flaws". Set with powder and then the setting mist, this lasts 6+ hours easily, with minimal fading, or accidental removal. Of course, if it's hot there is the chance for it to melt (I've noticed it mostly around my nose and chin) but that's easily fixed if you have your supplies with you.

It has a slight scent but it's nothing majorly off putting and it fades immediately when on the skin. I love this BB cream, and I've never loved a BB cream before. I would gladly repurchase this and all of its Holy Grail goodness.

Soft hydrated hair

I bought this shampoo and the conditioner at the supermarket after feeling my hair was dry and dull. It had been through a few colouring sessions as well, so it was needing some moisture. I had wanted to try this for a while and it was on special at the supermarket so I got it.

The bottle/packaging is lovely. The conditioner does take a good shake and mighty squeeze to come out of the bottle - that's the only problem with the packaging. A little goes a long way with the conditioner which is great.

The thing you notice the most is the amazingly scrummy coconut scent from the conditioner (and the shampoo!) - it's gorgeous. The conditioner goes on and feels silky. It tends to work through the hair nicely. I leave it on for a good couple of minutes before rinsing, and my hair feels great. Afterwards, the coconut scent lingers in your hair, and smells lovely. Styling is a breeze and hair is noticeable heathier, bouncy and has more shine to it. It certainly hydrates and is great if you have fine, and dry hair

I really love this conditioner, and will likely stick with it

Tips: Store conditioner on its lid so product is easier to get out of the bottle.

Towel dry hair before applying conditioner to enhance the nourishment of the conditioner

Countdown often have the products on special during Beauty sales

Hello New Favorite Brand!

I’m not sure what possessed me to do my first Tarte order, but I’m glad I did. Several items in this cute kit have become firm favourites of mine. I got this kit on special for $26, and shipping was $24, but I suggest if you want to order from Tarte I would wait until they have free shipping, and this is usually always on special.

Cleansing gel – this comes in a small 7.5ml container. The packaging, regardless of size, is gorgeous. I love the purple. The gel is quite thick, I have a lot of issues getting it out of the bottle, and the smell is also something that is less than desirable. It does remove makeup without the aid of micellar water or anything else, but it’s not something I’d buy again on purpose.

Setting mist – I LOVE THIS STUFF TO DEATH!!! It’s one of the only setting sprays I’ve tried but man it works. My face was held in place from 1030am to about 9pm that night and that’s a pretty amazing feat. It mists out nicely too, but again, it smells awful. It comes in a 7ml bottle, and I use up to 5 pumps, and I still have heaps left. Amazing.

Moisturizer – I found this too thick and not hydrating enough for my skin. I felt it sat on my skin vs sinking in and doing the job it was there for, so that was disappointing. It’s thick and creamy and I almost want to say it’s more of a gel than a cream. It comes in a gorgeous 10 ml container, and I love the gold lid.

BB cream – THIS STUFF IS AMAZING. It’s legit my skin but better! I have the shade ‘light’. I do wish it was a lighter shade but I think it’s the second lightest shade in their range. It’s a nice thickness for a BB cream, easily spreadable and blends easily. I mix this with a CC cream so it’s lighter, but man. I love this stuff. If it wasn’t $56NZD for a full sized tube I’d have one by now! The 15ml tube is really quite generous and I don't use it too often so hopefully it lasts me a while!

Mascara – NEW FAVORITE! I thought I would never find anything better than Too Faced, but here we are a few years later and I have a new favourite. The packaging isn’t anything to write home about, in fact it annoys me that it doesn’t sit flat in the holder. I love the brush, it’s bushy like the Too Faced one, but it has no curves. It makes my lashes super long, it doesn’t clump and it’s easily removed with micellar water or the cleansing gel that comes in the kit. It’s awesome.

Blush – Not something I use often but I have used this a few times. It’s not powdery or chalky, and it blends really nicely. The color is subtle and I think it looks nice on my skin when I use it. I wouldn’t buy this again though, as blush really ain’t my thing.

So happy to see a review of Tarte products!! Have been looking forward to reading this :-)

Ba ha ha thanks hun, I guess I'll find out when it arrives. It shipped today eek, so excited. That packaging is just the cutest. I really want to try that set though he he he. You're such an enabler lol xx

the mist is really nice, Sarah :-) it's not off putting in the bigger bottles, just the smaller ones which is bizarre. its kinda herbal/citrus/lavender but not, at the same time. i literally cant pinpoint a scent family :'( bahaha enjoy your stuff xx

Ba ha ha you just enabled me and $115 later I have my first lot of Tarte products on their way lol. Super excited eek xx

Bummer, just went to buy but that set is out of stock lol. How long did it take to arrive? xx

Awesome review as always hun, I love the look of the packaging on the mist eek. I was wanting to try this set but the smell you refer to sounds a tad offputting. When you say it smells awful, how do you mean? lol xx

LOVE!

I absolutely love this product, I am so glad I was selected for this trial because it is not a product I would have purchased to try but now I will not be without it!

I have sensitive acne prone skin, I have a constant struggle to get moisture in to my skin without it breaking out. I have hundreds and hundreds of dollars worth of products sitting on my shelf which make my skin worse. This stuff is beautiful! Finally my skin is hydrated!

Ok, so when it first arrived I thought the packaging was beautiful, a classy glass bottle with a nice looking dropper for product application. I have to admit I did wonder if the dropper would be messy but it isn't, I follow the instructions and drop on to the back of my hand first and then apply, I use three drops for my whole face. It smells DIVINE, I am not a big fan of herby smelly natural products and this is not that. It smells floral and woody. I will say the scent is quite strong but personally I like it and it disappears quickly.

I have used single blend oils before (jojoba is my go to) but this was something else. It absorbs so quickly and does not leave an oily residue at all. Instantly my face feels hydrated and over a few weeks I have definitely noticed an improvement in redness on my cheeks and also in acne scars.

I honestly can't recommend this enough, if you have sensitive skin, redness, acne scarring you have to give this a go. I will absolutely be repurchasing!

Tips: I've actually been using this on a dry tattoo also and it's really hydrated it!

Evolu Rosehip & Friends

I wasnt a fan of rosehip oil even though it has alot of benefits for the skin it was too much of an intese smell for me but this one is awesome because of the blends of oils so the smell is mixed and also reminds me of aromatherapy oil smells so it sort of relaxing. I also love the dropper thats a genius idea for application, anyways i placed a few drops on my face a drop each on my cheeks, forehead and nose then massaged it into my skin for a minute then let it soak in and dry for 5. The oil is super light weight so i also love this . It does feel oily just for a little but once dry and soaked in skin feels super hydrated and soft. Ill have to say my skin stayed moisturised alday i forgot to clean my face and it was still moisturised the next morning but i cleaned my face and re applied this lovely. Ill probably use this a couple times a week or maybe just when my skin needs some loving. But this is a recommend.

The Ordinary Vitamin C Suspension 23% + HA Spheres 2% Review

Fun!

This is a fun little product!

I have read so many reviews of people loving this product or completely hating it and here's why.

It is a very strong form of Vitamin C called L-Ascorbic Acid and it is the most irritating form of Vitamin C you can get. It is also the most effective.

If you have sensitive skin it will sting, some people will have absolutely no problem with it, some will find it extremely uncomfortable and I've even read reviews that have said it burns their skin but, do not let that put you off trying it. Patch test! Always patch test first.

The other thing people hate about this product is that it is gritty. It's like rubbing fine, fine grains of sand over your face so the trick is to go gently and only spread it to cover your face, don't rub it in. The grittiness does go away after a few seconds as the L-Ascorbic Acid Powder reacts with the moisture in your skin and is absorbed so you can apply your next layers of your skincare regime quite happily.

This product doesn't smell and doesn't contain silicone (they have just released a 30% Suspension in Silicone which will possibly be less irritating for some people). It never broke me out but I have read reviews where people have reacted quite badly to it. My sister in law says it broke her out the first week she used it so she stopped, tried again a couple of weeks later and had no problems.

You can also cut it with a moisturiser to tone down some of the reaction you might get from it or try one of their other Vitamin C products (MAP =Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate is a really gorgeous product).

As with all their products, they come in 30 ml sizes so the size of the product might put you off but they do last a long time as you only need to use a little at a time.

I have been using another Vitamin C product but I keep coming back to this. It really does even skin tone and heal acne scarring but I don't use it every night, maybe just once a week. Some use it as a mask.

Tips: This oxidises if water gets near it so if you see any signs of yellowing in the lid, wipe it off with a dry tissue. Yellow = BAD = do not use.

Coolies, thanks for replying hun. Yay I like the part about it being amazing for dry skin. Ummm may try the silicone one then, although I would be a bit worried it may cause breakouts because of the silicone in it.

PS It suits both skin types as it's something you would use at night before bed.

It contains Hyaluronic Acid which is amazing for dry skin however, the Vitamin C spheres will sting compromised skin so cut it with your moisturiser. The Ordinary have released Vitamin C 30% in Silicone and I think this would suit you better.

I have sensitive skin so its actually good that you mention everything I need to know when looking at purchasing a new brand of product. Does this suit dry or oily skin hun? Great review xx

Love a good mist toner

Just spray, and walk away! Sort of. I've been using this mist toner for over a month now and I 'think' I love it? After I cleanse and dry my face I spritz it on and wait a few seconds before pressing it into my skin. It's light and refreshing, especially after a workout. I follow it up with whatever moisturiser I'm currently using and I'm good to go. I find it has helped my moisturiser sink in quicker and doesnt effect my skin type at all. Highly recommended.

I agree it is a light scent but very refreshing and theven sprayer itself is nice too

It's quite a light scent. But really refreshing. I do tend to use coconut oil on my lips at night too because I love the smell too!

How strong is the coconut scent hun? Is it a slight scent or strong? I really like the sound of this especially as I love coconut.

Lush Dream Cream Review

Dream Cream Saved My Skin

Dream Cream hand and body lotion is one of Lush's best selling products that they make. I have had eczema since I was a baby and have tried everything under the sun to help heal the dry, sore, red skin that goes along with having eczema. I have the most sensitive skin you can imagine and have some very bad reactions to other products. I found Dream Cream over 5 years ago when I was looking for more natural products to use on my skin, that would not hurt or burn my skin when applied.

Dream Cream saved my skin in a time where I thought nothing was going to work. The oat milk, rose water and blue chamomile oil all help soothe and calm down the skin when it is irritated, sore and itchy. All the wonderful oils and butters that go into Dream Cream will leave your skin feeling soft and moisturised. The hint of lavender oil you smell along side the oat milk and rose water helps with a good nights sleep if applied before bed as lavender has calming properties to it. The lavender does not scent is not overpowering as it is mixed with other wonderful ingredients.

I have gone through many, many, many wonderful black pots of this goodness. It is the only moisturiser I will use on my children, as they have ended up with my eczema. They have never cried or flinched when having it applied to there skin. It stops the itching and helps with the redness, dry skin and relaxes them before bed.

This is also perfect to use during the Summer on sun burn. Pop a tub in the fridge for a few hours and then use. It is heaven on that angry, fiery sunburn and helps so much.

Do not let the price of Dream Cream put you off from trying it. A pot full lasts me a long time, as a little goes a long way. If you are close to a store, head in and ask for a sample they are more then happy to give them out, before committing to a full size tub of Dream Cream.

Tips: Ask for a sample if you live close to a Lush store. Warm between hands when applying to small children during the colder months.

Awesome review hun x Sad that this cream doesn't get the credit it deserves. I've had a pot for ages, will have to get it out again and maybe try on Avalon's skin :-)

My new fave

I received the serum as part of a review panel for the entire range. I have a crazy amount of hair - it's not thick, just an incredible amount on my head! I also have a penchant for changing hair colour on a regular basis which this means my hair is pretty dry. Having dry hair means I have an obsession for hair serums and oils. I am continually searching for one that works!

I absolutely adore the packaging of this product, the green and gold is quite eye catching and with the natural deep sea extracts is quite fitting. The small pump bottle is easy to use, and as with the spray, I was impressed the cap was coloured and not clear which meant I didn’t ever lose it. The product itself is a beautiful pearlescent lotion with a gorgeous scent.

I typically use about 4 pumps of the serum to get good coverage. The lotion is quite thick so it didn’t drip while applying – an absolute huge plus for me! I found it really easy to apply and get good coverage on the lengths only. I also found it dried really well – other serums I have used in the past have doubled the drying time of my hair, but this didn’t seem to affect it at all.

The best thing of all – the serum made my hair soft, shiny and still had great movement. It didn’t make it heavy or greasy at all. 60ml for $16.99 is a reasonable price point for such a great product so I will definitely be purchasing again. Needless to say I think I have found a keeper.

Tips: Hide from all the other girls in the house - this is a great product!

Great review hun, might have to hunt this down myself as I have super dry hair too. So awesome you found a serum that works for you xx

Great review. It sounds like a product worth trying.
