NIVEA Lip Care Pearl And Shine Review

Pearly and dry

This "lip care" let me down. I thought I'd try it out because I liked the idea of having a pearly glow while taking care of my lips. Nope! There was a pearly shine, but it was the kind of chalky shine that I used to experience when messing around with $2 shop glosses etc when I was 8! And it really didn't do anything for my dry lips. If anything it made them worse, and with the chalkyness of the texture once dry, I was not a happy camper.

I'm glad you got your money's worth anyway, even if I didn't like it :) You're right that it might've changed formula

It turns out I really like it. Maybe they've improved it since your batch because it looks like a lot of people didn't like it when you didn't? maybe it's better suited to us older folk :(

Sorry for the disappointment MareeB! Maybe it could be re-purposed as a glittery eyeshadow or something if you dislike it as much as I did?

Oh no - I just bought it hoping it'd be good - I should've looked here first!

Really like this cleanser!

I got the Goodness cream cleanser in the Nudes 2 BBBE. The bottle is really big for a cleanser, and really worth the $20 price - once finished I'm definitely buying it again. The tube is smooth with a pearl shine to its green colour, I really like the simple get effective design. With the lid as a base it's really easy to get the cleanser out of the tube, the whole lid screws off also so no mucky build up like you get with a flip top lid.

The cream is spreads thinner than other oil based cleansers I've tried, but is still creamy in texture. Scent wise it's very fresh - it has the smell of freshly cut hay which I find nice but not amazing (better than smelling of nasty chemicals). My skin really likes it!! Using the cleanser twice a night has visibly reduced zits and my skin is enjoying the attention, not drying out at all (I also have sensitive skin so very happy with these results). I find that it is hydrating enough for me to not use a night time moisturizer following cleansing my face, but I do use a day moisturizer to protect my skin from the elements. It does remove makeup a little but not enough to get all the waterproof mascara off. All up a really great cleanser which I will continue to use.

Amazing mascara!

This was one of my first mascaras and I love it. It is waterproof but still easy enough to rub off with a makeup cloth.

We went on holiday in Samoa in 30-40 degree heat, went swimming under waterfalls, slid down large rock slides and my mascara didn't move at all, I didnt have to worry about constantly wiping under my eyes to make sure it wasn't leaking, it just stayed until I wanted it off.

The only thing that I didnt love about it was that it doesn't really curl you lashes just blackens them, which is fine it you have naturally curled lashes.

All in all I would definitely suggest trying it.

Tips: If you haven't tried their eyeliners and eyeshadows already, you need too, they are amazing!

Thanks for the review! When I saw it was made with wax my first question was whether it would melt in heat!

In a Nut Shell - Liquid Gold!

I want to first start off by saying a massive THANK YOU to Beauty Review for the opportunity to trial this product and giving us 3 weeks to trial it. I truly believe I wouldn't have seen the results that I am seeing now if it were only for a week.

It comes in the standard bottle with a glass dripper. What I love about this specific dropper though is that it has a slight curve at the bottom which stops too much product from coming out and also giving you the opportunity to apply it straight to your face, although I prefer to apply to fingers instead.

The directions say to massage 3-4 drops onto clean dry skin and apply twice a day. I did this in the morning and before bedtime using two fingers on both sides of the face and in circular movements.

The actual fragrance is what you would usually expect when using Rosehip oil, its not overpowering but doesn't really have a specific scent to describe it if that makes sense. I thought there would have been maybe a slight orange scent to it with the Vitamin C added in (ha ha ha I just always assume orange when thinking of Vitamin C lol). It is not an unpleasant scent either, so no worries about that.

I have been using this product everyday without fail and have noticed a few big differences in my skin - it is more clear, has a glow to it, so much more smoother than normal and even hubby has noticed how good my skin is looking. My makeup looks so much better and blends in beautifully. I can only credit these results to the A'kin Brightening Rosehip Oil with Vitamin C and nothing else.

Would I buy this in the future? Most definitely!! The price tag is a bit on the highish side but hey you get what you pay for and you would definitely be happy with this product. I can't wait to see the final results when I have finished the bottle.

Tips: Make sure you allow to sink into your skin and dry before applying your makeup as it may make your makeup look oily. By allowing it to dry, it will give your makeup a slight dewy appearance but without the oily look.

Bonus - it is not a greasy oil either so no worries there either!

Hey lovely, no I haven't needed to use a moisturiser with this and I have really dry skin. Hope that helps x

Do you use the oil as well as a normal moisturiser?

Love love love!

Just as an introduction to my situation before I write this review: I have very sensitive skin. Especially in terms of scrubs I've gone years without finding one that was right for me. And that is why I am so happy about this trio!

Each of the 3 tubes is a pretty pink, with a sturdy cap on the base. The design is very elegant yet modern. I do find myself reading each tube to figure out what I need because they are quite similar. All three product have similar botanical scents which are quite subtle and I find very lovely. Closer to the smell of fresh greenery rather than floral tones.

The cleanser: as an oil based cream the cleanser spreads over your skin very smoothly and feels great as you massage it in. Although I don't find this cleanser works well for removing stubborn make up, it does work on most of my lipsticks. What makes this cleanser so amazing is that it doesn't dry out your skin!!! My face is left feeling clean and extremely smooth after using it. I have never used an oil-based cleanser before, so this was a new experience! Before using the cleanser it helps to shake it a bit to avoid the oil separating from the cream. Other than that, the difference an oil based cleanser I have found is the higher level of moisture that’s locked into your skin post-wash - if you suffer from dry skin I'd suggest this cleanser for you.

The scrub: oh my goodness, yes!! I am confident in all of these products, but of the three the scrub is the one I am absolutely 100% going to be purchasing again. The Jojoba Wax beads in this scrub feel almost like fine sand grains, the level of exfoliation can be built up be using more in a specific area, a level of control that I really like (rather than just having to deal with harsh exfoliation on those pesky sensitive patches). After my first use of the scrub I did have a small breakout the next day, but it cleared quickly and hasn't occurred with following uses.

The moisturiser: So lovely! I am really liking the natural scent of these products. This moisturiser is quite a thick cream, and on application it almost melts onto your skin. It doesn't completely sink in like other creams, instead it feels like there is a shield of natural oils which protects your skin from the environment. A new sensation for me, given I usually use very light hypoallergenic creams which sink in quite fast. I once again however am converted. With this moisturiser I feel confident throughout the day that my skin will hold up against the wind and the cold.

The big picture: Healthy skin while using natural ingredients, and with the products being made right at good ol' NZ. Since using this skin care regime I haven't had any issues with dryness or allergic reactions. Any blemishes are smaller than they used to be and clear much faster. In summary: I am in love with this trio.

Tips: Shake the cleanser before use. Also not a tip but a bonus: being able to wash your face with warm water and not having to worry about drying out! Using cold water in the morning can help wake yourself up, but that's not really my cup of tea. Cleanse comfortably I say!

Thanks Julieal and MareeB! I was worried it'd be too long but didn't want to sacrifice any of the details. But I see that most people felt the same way :) a product worth writing about!

Really good review and products sound really good

Fab review Jess :)

It really is Macs! I think I enjoy these products so much because using them feels more like pampering yourself than a chore :)

Lush Love and Light hand cream Review

Light and lovely

This hand cream makes me think of my mother's garden mixed with citrus. Not a grassy scent, more like dark leaves and bushes - stronger and slightly bitter in smell. It is quite a strong smell, but I have to admit I enjoyed it more and more with use.

The texture in my opinion is heavenly. I have sensitive skin, so it always helps when a cream sinks into my skin and lets it breathe rather than leaving a thick film. This means I can put it on before bed without worrying about it getting on the sheets also!

Lush pottles are always a great way to hold creams as they don't spill, they can stack together, and when you return them to the shop you can swap (I think) 5 pottles for a small container of any face mask you choose. So not only do you feel good for recycling, but you get a present too!

You're welcome! And I really hope you like it as much as I do :)

Thanks for the review! This hand cream sounds so lovely, I want to rush out and buy a pot now :D

Goodness Gracious

I can't remember how but I managed to acquire 2 big bottles of this, and I'm not sure I bought them, and I also had a mini from a set but I bought that myself. I actually think I received one in the BRBB before they were famous!

I really like the Goodness packaging. The beautiful purple color, the matte silver lid and the box they come in with the cute note. I do dislike the fact that its a screw top lid, I much prefer the ones that just pop out.

This cream is white, like most face creams, but I do think its on the runnier side and reminds me of a body lotion more than a face cream. For a while my face loved it but after a while it started to burn and I didn't like it so much. The smell I can't really recall, but it wasn't too in your face or annoying.

Since my skin started to hate it it began to feel like a film was being put on my face and nothing was being absorbed, so I wouldn't buy it again.

The color of it drew me in - I want my hair that color! hahaha ;-)

I've definitely been tempted by the packaging before! Not sure exactly why, maybe it's the shimmery tube.

Skinfood Exfoliating Scrub

It's amazing, generally I find when I use this type of product it will either strip my skin raw or leave me with a breakout a few days later. It does neither, it is literally the best scrub in my opinion. I have very sensitive skin and it does not react with it.

Tips: Use it, you will not regret it!

Hi Chloe, just wondering, how often do you use it? Does it dry out your skin if you use it too many times in a week? I also have sensitive skin :) thanks

Perfect for those who use liquid lips

I love this lip scrub! It always makes my lips feel so soft after usage. I would highly recommend these for people who use liquid lipsticks because they can often be quite drying and the scrubs completely revitalise them!

Tips: Put a moisturising lip balm on after use

Good point about the liquid lipsticks, I also find lip scrubs helpful if I've used lip stains which haven't fully come off using make up remover.

Artiste Blurring Foundation Brush Review

Soft blending brush

This is the first time I've used a brush to apply foundation, and I have to say it is fun! It makes applying faster and my coverage is better using the brush than my old way of blending with my fingers and every now and then a little sponge help.

The aesthetic of the brush is appealing, with a matte handle which is solid but not heavy (and because of the matte-ness won't slip around in your grip if you accidentally get foundation on it, like plastic brushes are sometimes prone to). The metal band is a beautiful copper, and is nicely crimped to hold the head of the brush firmly. And the bristles of the brush are well-packed/dense enough to hold foundation well while still having the softness that you hope for in a good brush.

As according to the instructions on the box (as I said, my first foundation brush so I wanted to do it right) I used the brush in a buffing motion on my face and neck. Because the bristles are packed well in the brush blending was easy. In the past bending with my fingers I've had the problem of getting cakey patches where I have over-covered a spot, with the Artiste brush however I didn't have this problem at all. I felt like even with a beginners skill set I'll still be able to get a seamless result.

Overall a great brush for me. Unfortunately after the first use a few of the bristles came pulled out of the head while still firmly attached at the base. However that is an issue I assume is normal for all brushes. Plus there weren't any bristles left in the make up on my face so I'm happy!!!

Tips: Great for all experience levels. Using a good quality brush like this really makes getting good, seamless coverage easy and fast.

It really was a shame about one or two bristles, but I was happy they didn't come out fully (hate it when you find a bristle or a piece of fluff in your otherwise ok makeup). They've come out fully now that I have washed it, and no more came loose :)

I shouldn't be normal for bristles to fall out of brushes when they are in this price range, that's a real shame x

That's no good about a few of the bristles falling out of your brush, I washed my one after three days and was quite rough with washing it, but it held up fine without any bristles coming out. Will be interesting to see how other's hold up :-)

A shame about the bristles falling out. I wonder how they will hold up during a wash of the brush
