Not bad for a lip topper

These are basically low stick glosses that are jammed packed with chunky glitter, a must for a 90's throw back, but the packaging and sheer shininess of them are just alluring, so shiny.

On the lips they are not too fussy to wear but are very sheer, I found that wearing a lipstick or lip liner under them so you have a base to build on is great if you want a true duo chrome lustre to your lips it is a fun product, and even wore alone as a gloss it adds a little sparkle to your look. Total fun, no seriousness about it, which I love, makeup being fun!

Not really but I am a bit of a junkie so didn't pay much attention to the price, to be honest, was just in a buy stuff mood.

They look and sound fab = but $35? gulp....do you think they're worth that much?

They are available from Cosmic both instore and online

Thanks for the review. These look so pretty!!

Where did you purchase yours from Priestess? Great review.

Not for me

I received the spray as part of a review panel for the entire range. I have a crazy amount of hair - it's not thick, just an incredible amount on my head! I also have a penchant for changing hair colour on a regular basis which this means my hair is pretty dry. I have always found sprays to be pretty hit and miss so was excited to try this one.

I absolutely adore the packaging of this product, the green and gold is quite eye catching and with the natural deep sea extracts is quite fitting. The spray bottle is easy to use; I like that the cap is coloured so it doesn’t get lost like clear ones! As I mentioned I have a heap of hair so needed quite a few sprays to cover the lengths. I found it quite awkward to use with my just-below-shoulder length hair. I didn’t want to spray my entire head, so it was tricky to try and get good coverage but only on the length. This would be a lot easier with longer hair.

I wasn’t impressed with the product. I didn’t feel the spray actually did anything for my hair, and in fact found it made my hair feel quite heavy. After trying this a couple of times I’ve given up and passed it over to my daughter to see what she thinks.

Tips: I wouldn't recommend it for shorter hair

I found the exact same thing with this product! It didn't seem to have any positive effects at all.

Sally Hansen Colour Therapy Top Coat Review

So close!

I love almost everything about this top coat!

The bottle is nice and solid, it is attractive with a pretty metallic gold lid. It matches the polishes and the cuticle oil, I have to agree with the reviewer below that it can be tricky to tell the cuticle oil and top coat apart because the labels are so subtle! .

The brush is flat and wide, it holds a good amount of product and it easy to apply an even coat.

The formula is a good thickness, not gluggy at all, it glides on. It does smell quite strongly but a pretty standard top coat scent. It finishes off with a nice glossy sheen. The top coat extends the wear of the polish, I trialed one hand with top coat and the other without, the hand with the top coat had no sign of chipping at 7 days, the other hand the polish was starting to chip around the cuticles at 5 days.

My issue with this product is that unfortunately it can lift off polish when you apply it. Even after waiting for the colour to be touch dry if you try to apply one stroke and then go over it slightly the colour lifts. Such a pain! It isn't drastic and I will still use it but I have other brands I prefer and it doesn't live up to the fantastic colour polish!

Tips: Don't apply too much and only apply one stroke over each area or the colour lifts.

I had the issue with polish removal too :(

Sally Hansen Top Coat

I really wanted to like this product. Nice and largeish square bottle, awesome flat brush that makes polish application a breeze. The only issue is that it removes polish! I thought i was seeing things, or that i had somehow done something wrong. (Although in my defense, i have been applying nail polish for a VERY long time lol). I don't use a top coat usually so am not sure if this is normal or not but for this reason, i would not recommend this product.

I found the exact same thing! Such a shame.

Too Simple

When I received this product it had a bit of tape over the lid which made me wonder if it was meant to be there or if it was just put on for postage.

Nothing on the packaging really stood out to me so if it was on the shelf I don't think I would have picked it from the rest of the products.

Simple packaging but i don't find the key things stand out enough.

I squeezed out the clear gel and followed the instructions on the back of the bottle how ever it seemed to take a lot to get any kind of foam going when it does say foaming on the bottle.

Even though the product says soap free I felt like I was just washing my face with soap.

It did remove my makeup that I had on and my skin was clean however it felt dry and not moisturised so I felt I needed to apply another product to moisturise my skin

I had the same issue with making the gel foam up! Really annoying.

Lush Sultana of Soap Review

Short but Sweet

Last Christmas my partner spoiled me with a Lush gift box called Sugar Sugar. I Only just pulled it out a couple of weeks ago. I still have one soap left over from my Boxing Day Haul. My haul lasted me a year . I'm hoping to do the same this year.

This soap was different to all my other soaps I've purchased from Lush it seemed to be softer. My Soap was round with a pretty motive on the edges of it. Inside of it you can see grainy bits of Sultana running through it. Like all Lush soaps the smell of it is amazing in my shower. I thought I would smell fruits of Sultana but instead it's a strong floral with a mild zing of spice.

With application it glides on creamy . I had no big bits at all in my soap. This scent lingers on my body for hours after a shower. Unfortunately it discintergrated fast in my shower. It didn't last over a weeks use. This may be due to the wet condition it was sitting it. I like that it didn't leave any soap residue in my shower.

I'm a huge fan of Lush soaps. The quality of them is worth the price. I would repurchase this because I did enjoy the scent and consistency. I just wish it lasted a bit longer.

I definately need to invest in a soap holder . I do love this soap.

That sucks that it didn't last long for you! I've also found that Lush products disintegrate much faster when kept in the wet.

Surprisingly Good

These polishes are great for the price range. I pick them up at Farmers for around $3.50 which as far as I know is the only place you can get them in New Zealand.

They come in a really wide variety of colours and I am slowly making my way into owning them all. The bottle is fairly small but the brush is nice and wide. The polish itself is a bit thicker than regular polish but still goes on smooth and the wide brush makes it easy to apply. I need two coats of this with most colours but some of the lighter shades only need one. I use this along with the gel base coat and top coat that Essence sells but I think any base/top coat would do and is necessary. It also dries quite a bit faster than a regular polish which is super nice.

This lasts a good 4 or 5 days without any chipping for me. Some of the shades last a bit longer than others but I think that's pretty standard for most polishes. Sometimes I just touch up where it's chipped and it lasts me a couple of days longer. It's very easy to take off with regular nail polish once you want to remove the colour.

The only downside with this product that I've found is that once the bottles are opened it tends to start to dry up and thicken after 3 or 4 months. Maybe this is why the bottle is a bit smaller. It might make a difference if they are stored in the fridge but I haven't tried that.

Overall, this product is a great buy!

Painfully ineffective

I was lucky enough to snag this in the beauty vault, and was very excited to try a peel away mask. I have acne-prone, blemished, and combo (leaning towards oily) skin.

This comes in cheap, unimpressive packaging, and the product itself smells - and not in a good way! It smells of plastic and latex, and is a bright orange, thick gloopy consistency.

It makes a huge mess going on, and drips as it dries. It dries relatively well, but when it comes to peeling off, it definitely hurts - and yet it doesn't pull out any of the gunk that I wanted it to pull out. It was painful, and just seemed to strip away the moisture on my face. It didn't leave my skin feeling fresher, or cleaner, or radiant. My skin was left feeling a bit refreshed, but wasn't raw. It didn't work particularly well and I wouldn't reuse.

Yikes - thanks for the review! Definitely won't be trying out this product :P

NYX Dark Circle Concealer Review

A new favourite

After using up all of my Lancome concealer from my Lancome Teint Visionnaire Foundation duo which was my favourite cream concealer, I have been trying to find another similar. I used some Mac concealer in a stick and really liked that too but when I saw the NYX dark circle concealer and that it was only around $15 I had to try it and I love it. I have really bad dark undereye circles. I keep hoping they'll get better as my kids get older and I get more sleep but I'm afraid that might just be my face now. So I gently dab a bit of this under my eyes and side of my nose, a little on my eyelids and also use it as a general concealer for any blemishes and then gently blend. I can even wear it just with my Olay BB cream for day to day wear. I shared it with some friends who also loved it. It's not super high coverage but I prefer that to a heavy caked look. It covers the circles enough for me! I also notice another reviewer says not for dry skin or fine lines as a mum in her 30's with dry/sensitive skin and beginning to get some lines I have no problem, but do use your fingertips not a brush to apply so it smooths out nicely :)

Tips: Use your fingers not a brush and gently dab and blend for a smooth finish!

Love Love Love this powder

Cannot rate this powder highly enough. I am super oily and have quite a lot of redness. This powder evens out my skin tone and hides my blemishes. I applied it with the sponge it came with and a powder brush. I would say its light-medium coverage. Not full coverage but you might be able to build it with a wet sponge. This powder will keep you looking matte and fabulous all day

Tips: Use with the NYX studio ready photo loving primer for long lasting wear
