I've heard about this a couple of times now and I'm starting to wonder if I need it? They say they hydrate and detangle your hair before your regular shampoo and conditioner routine. Has anyone tried a good one? Worth it or just a bit overkill?

Hmm hadn't heard of that. I've more heard of after shampoo treatments.

I have never heard of this at all but I guess if you were to put olive or coconut oil in your hair, leave over night and then wash out the next day it might be a little the same as a pretreatment. I'm just not sure I would bother with a specific product for it.

I dunno what its about but I've tried coconut oil before shampooing (like ragingfrog said) worked a treat and my hair was delightfully soft. Dried faster than usual too :-D

Yeah with things like olive or coconut oil treatments you definitely need to apply them before shampooing, otherwise it's like oil overload for your scalp and hair! Shampooing twice after using an oil treatment is actually often recommended to thoroughly cleanse the bulk of the oils away.

I done natural concoctions with eggs, honey, etc. However if you use eggs and thicker stickier treatments you're going to have to really shampoo your hair thoroughly. I currently just put in coconut oil in my hair and leave it in for a day and then shampoo it out in the evening with a shampoo designed for oily hair, my hair is softer and my scalp is balanced out. You can do it with olive oil or other oils as well.

I've never done a pre shampoo treatment before. Only hair masks.

I don't really know what a pre shampoo treatment is. I've also done egg white (which is awesome) and I love the Fiji Spice coconut oil to soak my hair and leave overnight.
