I would like to start by describing what I was wearing on my face when I first tried this - it was a full face of make-up day which included Gel winged liner, several coats of Lancome Hypnose mascara, full coverage stick foundation, powders, bronzers AND a setting srpay. It's safe to say that by the time it came to wash my face this product was going to get a full work out!
How did it go?: I used just over the recommended amount. It is a soild looking balm in the tin, so I dipped my finger in (softer on contact) and dragged it backwards until there was just over a finger nails worth build up.
It recommends that you smooth/melt it between your hands first then apply to a dry face - so off I went. GOSH it felt good, it melted into an oil type consistancy almost right away and it felt amazing on my skin as I moved it around in circles breaking down my foundation and brow pencil. Once I had it applied good and proper I started in on my eyes. I went one at a time, rubbing it into the general area (the eye liner started to rub away instantly) then I massaged my lashes by opening my eyes and gently placing a finger tip either side in a pinching motion and rubbing the lashes between my fingers. Let me tell you I had great big black pander eyes by the time I had done my thing.
Then I took a warm damp face cloth and like MAGIC it all just wiped away - leaving my skin clean, soft and glowing.
Would I recommend it?: HELL YES! If you are like me and hate using traditional cleansers because you have to wet your face first and it drips all over the place OR you dislike having to use an eye make-up remover first and then a face cleanser then this is for you.
A few last points: I really liked how gentle on my eyes this was, I have used similar balms before and I still find a bit of a build up around the eye area afterwards, but not with this. Also Im not a huge fan of the scent...it almost smells like damp cut grass, very earthy.
While I loved my oil makeup remover, I wanted to try something else, and having tried other Goodness products, when I saw this at my supermarket, it just fell in with my groceries. The tin is a good size, and is easy to open & close, even with product. You only use a little, I tend to use the back of my little finger nail, to get about two fingernails worth out. then it's a case of massage into your face - very easy to use. It has an odd smell, which reminds me of freshly cut grass, but i think it is mostly a dandelion smell. Importantly it removes makeup, even thick stubborn black eyeliner, and it is gentle on my eyes. I soak a facecloth in hot water and use this to wipe off, it's also nice to allow the hot cloth to rest on my face. It makes it feel like a treatment.
Tips: You really do only need a little bit.
