L'Oreal Paris ELVIVE Extraordinary Clay Range Review

I was so keen to test they products out as I suffer from very oily roots and always have to wash my hair almost everyday or second day at least. This range consists of four products to be used together to help reduce oiliness. Item 1: Pre-shampoo clay mask which for me I didn't find that it made a huge difference to my hair.

Item 2: Clay shampoo which left my hair feeling very clean.

Item 3: Clay conditioner which helped made my hair become tangle free and smooth.

Item 4: Clay dry shampoo which really helped between washes to stop my hair from getting too oily.

Using all of these products together allowed me to not have to wash my hair everyday, I could go two days after washing my hair before I felt like it was too greasy to leave another day. I think I will be using these products again as they are quite inexpensive and work quite well.

This range consists of four steps / products which have all been reviewed separately.

Step 1: The Extraordinary Clay Hair Mask. Step 2: The Extraordinary Clay Rebalancing Shampoo. Step 3: The Extraordinary Clay Detox Conditioner. Step 4: The Extraordinary Clay Dry Shampoo.

I was super excited and eagerly awaited the arrival of these goodies! My roots are extremely oily and my hair typically needs to be washed every two days which frustrates me.

All in all this range definitely helped with prolonging of washing my hair. With this range I can last upto four days instead of the normal two days. In saying that, throughout the fourth day I have to reapply the Extraordinary Clay Dry Shampoo multiple times as I personally don't feel step four works too great unfortunately.

I personally feel like I achieved roughly 60 hours of fresh and light weight roots. Not the 72 that this range claims to give you however I am very happy with how soft and shiny my hair looked after using step 1-3.

I would highly recommend and will definitely be purchasing the first three products in this range when required.

I am cursed with oily hair, that I need to wash to wash my hair every day, and at a stretch maybe every second day, which tends to be a bit greasy up top and frizzy elsewhere. So a product promising to help with this is exciting

Together the four products - Clay Mask, Shampoo, Conditioner, and Dry Shampoo - combined extended my need for washing my hair out to three days. That has never happened before.

I decided to do a wee experiment to work out what from that range helped: 1) I started out using just the shampoo and conditioner - lasted a day and a bit. Wished I had rewashed on Day 2. 2) Used the mask, shampoo, conditioner - lasted two days without needing a wash. 3) Used the shampoo, conditioner, and dry shampoo - lasted three days. 4) Used all four products - lasted three days.

In scenarios 3 and 4 my hair looked clean, not greasy or frizzy. It did however not feel so great to touch - kind of stiff. But only having to wash my hair three days will really help cut down the time I need to get ready in the mornings. Great for a non-morning person!

My favourite product from the range was the dry shampoo - great for maintaining that fresh look. Not sure the clay mask added too much value.

This new range of four L'Oréal Paris elvive extrodinary clay hair products are really good. The fresh scent gorgeous coloured packaging and it does live up to its claims.

Oily hair has been mine (and my mother's) problem always, so I was super excited to try this range.

In summary: Love the dry shampoo! Very effective compared to other brands I have used. Great for in between days (which you won't have many of when using this Clay range). Would also be a definite in the bag for a camping trip or when you know washing will be out for a period of time. Instant lift and revitalisation.

Clay Mask: A face pack for your head. I struggled to see the point of this product and have actually forgotten to use it last time I washed my hair....all wet in the shower and then I remembered it. Hard to judge if it works on its own merit because my hair did seem good on the day I forgot to use it anyway. Jury still out really on this aspect of the system.

Shampoo: Lovely smell and a little goes a long way. I use only one lather up and have great results - clean and oil free hair.

Conditioner: I am truely converted back to using a conditioner. Shiney hair and great feeling for days.

I have already recommended this range to my mum. It is effective, affordable and a revelation for my hair. Results are long lasting and I have had three days of oil free hair before I felt the need to wash again. Thank you L'Oreal for creating a system that solves my specific hair issues.

I am absolutely sold on this range! I really love the colour of the packaging of these products.. so beautiful and eye catching. The mask is the first product I used. It is easy to read what the product is but the instructions are under a flap on the top of the lid which is a bit of a difficult place. They could be somewhere much easier to read. It has a fruity smell to it, but its not overpowering. The mask itself is very thick. It feels refreshing on the scalp and has a cooling sensation when applied. I have very thick and long hair so it was very time consuming to apply. This would put me off using it too often as I just don’t have that much time spend on my hair. My scalp felt very soft as I was rinsing it out. The shampoo is the second product in this system. It is very thick, not to runny and easy to use. It smells like any other shampoo but almost had a chemical smell to it. The smell was not overpowering though. The shampoo itself lathers well, I used far too much the first time. The second time I used about half as much as I normally would. As I was rinsing out the shampoo I could already feel how soft and silky my hair was. The conditioner is the third product in this system. It was just like any other conditioner I have used. There were no over powering smells or anything to strong. The conditioner is white in colour, and has a nice thick and creamy texture to it. It was as easy to apply as any conditioner. My hair felt extremely soft as I was rising it out but it also felt heavy and weighed down which it doesn’t usually The next day my hair was slightly frizzy (something that I don’t normally struggle with) but also very soft and silky. My usually dry ends were non-existent which surprised me. The third day my hair was not oily at all. Today would normally be the day that I would need to use my dry shampoo or give It another wash, but I didn’t need to do either of those. The fourth day my hair STILL did not need to be washed. I was so impressed!! There was no sign of an oily scalp and my hair still felt like it had only just been washed. On the fifth day I did need to use the dry shampoo and at the end of the day, I washed it again. The dry shampoo has a very refreshing scent. It made my hair smell clean. There was a slight white powdery residue in my hair which took quite a bit of brushing to get rid of. In the end it did work, it got rid of the oil that was in around my scalp. I probably wouldn’t use it again as my usual dry shampoo does a better job (no white residue). Overall, I am very impressed with this system. I don’t remember the last time I went 5 days without washing my hair (and feeling ok about it!). I would use the mask, shampoo and conditioner again (I will even purchase them once the ones I have run out) but I wouldn’t use or buy the dry shampoo.

A lot of products give big promises but i really do feel that my hair issues have improved now that I am using this range. Ive pretty much always had dry hair, that gets affected by humidity and ends up like a puff ball. Ive used the most hydrating products I can to combat It, but in also in the unfortunate position to have a very oily scalp! Kinda a dilemma there! But hang on to ya britches...I was able to review this range in its entirety and I'm like "what hair issue?" The pretreatment mask has a scent blend between a body shop body butter and earthy goodness. Its real in colour, however dried grey and hard-ish. You apply it to the scalp only before shampooing and its a good to google how to style your newly oil-less hair! It felt a bit thick in places so I adjusted the amounts to a thin application. Felt wierd on,fantastic to remove! Left my hair with a very dry, heavy feeling. I didnt like this But it soon softened once I shampooed.

The Shampoo - the bottle is too similar to the conditioner except sits upright. It has a really pleasant scent and texture, much thicker than the conditioner! A little goes a long way. It thoroughly cleansed and removed the preteatment After the mask and shampoo, my hair felt very stripped of moisture. I wondered if i had over done it,and wondered if i had any colour in my hair! Rest assured, my hair colour was the same!

The conditioner - as I said, quite similar to the shampoo but sits on its lid. Its also a lovely scent and texture, thinner than I was expecting but left my ends (which is where I concerntrated on) feeling very hydrated.

I love dry shampoos and have only recently been made aware of just how versatile they are! (Thanks to BRs cool article on them) . I over did it the first time I used it...instructions say to spray 15cms away from roots...nobody got time to measure that, obviously I underestimated the distance because I ended up with grey streaks! I use this product on the 2nd and 3rd day. It adds freshness and volume. Love it. I also love the size, I can throw it in my handbag!

Overall, I'm pretty rapt to have been able to review this range. I'm going to be repurchasing because I love feeling more in control of my hair, which gives me confidence. Ka pai L'Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Clay Range!!

Thank you, BR, for sending me not just the shampoo, but the entire range for the trail. The range consists of 4 products and they're all packaged in beautiful mint green with darker green accent packaging. The pre-wash mask is in a 150ml screw top tub and is a thick greyish green coloured paste, the shampoo in a 250ml flip top bottle, the conditioner in an inverted 250ml bottle (it stands on its lid), and the dry shampoo in a 150ml aerosol type can.

Pre-wash Clay Mask: I found this thick paste to be really difficult to work into my scalp. It spread easily over my fingertips but turned almost 'sticky' when applying it onto my scalp. It was difficult to spread and I was hesitant to add water to thin it, as it's supposed to work the same way as a face mask, so I persisted, even though it felt like it was pulling at my hair. It did rinse out very easily and quickly though, and has a pleasant smell.

Shampoo: The shampoo lathers wonderfully and removes any mask still left on my scalp, as well as cleaning my hair thouroughly without leaving it squeaky. It almost feels like the shampoo has a volumising lather, my hair feels pouffy when I'm washing it. After rinsing the shampoo out, my hair felt dry and strawlike and I definitely needed to use conditioner on the mid-lengths and ends.

Conditioner: Now, I never use conditioner, ever! But after the mask and shampoo, I felt I had to condition to make my hair feel soft once more. The conditioner is lightweight and doesn't leave my hair looking or feeling greasy. Just keep it away from the roots and scalp!

Dry Shampoo: The dry shampoo works like any other dry shampoo, although this one doesn't leave any white marks or visible residue.

Overall, I'm really impressed. Normally I wash my hair in the evening, and by lunchtime the next day, the ends are looking stringy and greasy already. With this range, my hair still looked good 24 hours later, only a little sign of greasiness. Instead of having to wash my hair every second day, I can now get away with washing it every 3rd day, and if I use dry shampoo two days in a row and tie my hair up on days 3 and 4, I can push it to washing it on the 4th day.

I doubt that I will purchase the clay mask in future, as it definitely tugs at my hair while I'm applying it and I find my hair fall while washing it has doubled since using the mask. With such fine, thin hair, I really can't afford to lose this much hair every time I wash it because of the 'stickiness' of the mask while trying to apply it. I'll definitely continue to use and purchase the shampoo, conditioner and dry shampoo, as they really do work well.

My hair is coloured blonde and I would describe it as being oily in the roots and dry/damaged on the end. I normally wash my hair every second day, but that's only because I blast my hair with loads of dry shampoo. I was very excited to try this product as I was hopping it could help me ween of the reliance on dry shampoo.

Clay mask- amazing fresh aqua like scent. The texture was pretty thick and I found it took some time for me to work it through my thick hair. I found it worked the best when I put it in prior to my shower and let it sit in there for 15 minutes. Rinsed easiler without making my hair feel dry (which I was expecting).

Shampoo- thick texture which lathered very easily, no need for double shampooing like other products I've used in the past. Same lovely smell.

Conditioner- light product, same nice smell. Left my hair feeling smooth and moisturised.

Dry shampoo- nice smell, however not my favourite product. It didnt live up to my expectations. I used it day 2 and 3, and it didn't absorb the oil as well as it should have.

Overall I really liked this range, the smell was Devine and very clean feeling-without leaving it dry. The combination of the pre shampooing treatment and shampoo/conditioner worked well together and I noticed a difference in my oil production day 2 and 3.

Brief overview of hair: I have super oily hair, particularly my roots. I normally wash my hair every other day (and double shampoo) because by the end of the second day, my roots are super oily, yet my ends are limp and lacklustre.

I was super excited to try this range. I like that you can tell the products are all from the same range through the packaging, but the shampoo and conditioner look almost identical so be careful what you're reaching for in the shower (especially since I'm short sighted too!)

Clay mask: I have used hair masks before, but usually these were treatments after shampoo and condition, so I was surprised and hesitant about using the mask first. I didn't enjoy the smell much, was a bit chemically to me. I liked that a little bit goes a long way because the tub isn't incredibly huge and I have thick hair so a tub of mask usually doesn't give many uses. I waited 5 minutes before rinsing and following up with shampoo and conditioner.

Shampoo/conditioner: Use only a small amount of shampoo! It lathers up really well, works right in and feels super nice. It also smells amazing - much better than the mask - and lasts even after washing! I found both worked well. My hair felt clean but remained light. It was smooth, silky and manageable. I lasted 3 days before it started feeling a teeny bit heavy.

Dry shampoo: This was my main critique. I have black hair and the white powder definitely stood out for me, requiring quite a bit of effort to hide. I feel that it's effective, so my hair could last another 2 days. I would definitely like it if they developed a brunette option.

Overall: I went 5 full days before needing to wash my hair again, and it actually felt clean, smooth, light, silky and manageable! Love this range and would highly recommend to those with oily hair.
