I was lucky enough to be able to ‘purchase’ this set in the last Beauty Vault, and it’s something that I have loved using ever since.
The set contains a 50 ml EDP perfume, a 100 ml body cream, and a little tiny 5 ml EDP bottle, all of which come securely fitted in a beautiful white box with a textured gold front. The perfume is in a sleek silver and glass bottle, and the body cream is in a tall gold squeezy tube. I think the packaging is modern and elegant, and overall looks stunning, particularly when together in the set.
I would describe the scent as a sweet summery floral. I’m no expert when it comes to describing perfumes, but the notes that most stand out to me are pear and sweet jasmine. Once the scent has settled, there is a hint of musk and possibly (very faintly) vanilla. I like it because it is floral, but there is an element of sweetness to lift it slightly. (I hope this description makes sense!). The EDP has good lasting power, and I find that I rarely need to reapply throughout the day, so it’s perfect for full days at uni or work. I usually spray it twice (once on my wrist and once on my clothes), and that is the right strength without being too overpowering.
I’m lazy and usually forget to apply body lotion, but I actually really like this one. It is quite thick, so more of a cream than lotion, but it absorbs quickly into the skin and leaves a light scent without being overpowering. It’s not the most moisturising lotion I’ve come across, but it does the trick and it is great for layering with the perfume. I can see myself using it a lot more come summertime.
The little wee 5 ml bottle is super adorable, and handy to keep in a handbag or backpack for those times when you forget to apply perfume before heading out the door (pretty much the story of my life). It’s sturdy, so can stand up to the rough and tumble of a handbag, and is exactly the same scent as the bigger 50 ml bottle.
Overall: I really like this set. I’d describe it as more of a summer scent than a winter one, so I think I’ll be getting lots more use out of it in the months to come. It’s not my favourite perfume ever, but it’s a great, light, everyday fresh scent that I think would appeal to a wide range of people.
I purchased this gift set with the body lotion as well. I really like the packaging, the metallic gold squares on the box, then reflected on the bottle. I love the round, twisted shape of the bottle- overall a very appealing decoration for my dressing table - understated but luxurious looking. The scent is definitely floral, but rich and warm. I love that it is a sweet fragrance but not overly, it has a little more, maybe a bit peppery and musky. I feel it is a more mature fragrance than Black Opium or Tresor La Nuit - I refuse to say it's mothery! That makes it sound so old! I find it lasts for a decent time on me. I use the body lotion if I'm going out and want to add a bit of extra layering to the fragrance- I wouldn't really use it as a moisturiser as I didn't feel it super softened my skin or anything like that but it does compliment the perfume. It absorbs into the skin well so it's perfect to lather on quickly because you don't need to spend half an hour drying afterwards! I'm glad I purchased this set- and I have heaps of the little 5ml replicas too as they come in every GWP that Elizabeth Arden has had the last year or so.
