I have always found it hard to find eyeshadow brushes that work for my hooded eyes to make them pop without over doing it. I usually resort to using my fingers and then rub off excess shadow to avoid the mutton dressed as lamb scenario. That was until these absolutely perfect brushes found their way in to my mailbox and now the newest members of my brush family.
I had never heard of Carousel Cosmetics so of course not being a familiar brand I was skeptical about how well they would perform. My expectations were to be blown wide open when I found myself loving these far more than my real techniques brushes! Gasp! Shock horror I know!! For me I have large hands for a girl so I find it hard to work an eye brush that is far too small for my mits. These are perfect for me. They are long and quality made from what I have found. They are almost paintbrush like which is very fitting considering they create and are themselves masterpieces.
The bristles......so soft and feathery for the applicator brush and distributes that shadow perfectly every time with no fuss. The blending brush spooked me a little bit because blending has never been my forte at the best of times. I kept an open mind and plodded on. I decided to go for the age old smokey eye look with a light base and a dark purple smoke at the edge. It's almost as if the brushes have magnets in them because that shadow wasn't going anywhere. It stayed put in the bristles and went on to my eye without any fall out....SCORE!
With the blending brush it made it feel almost effortless. I just rubbed it across my lid in the blending motion and low and behold smoked eye!! I was ecstatic and every single time after that the same thing happened. These brushes now take pride of place in my top makeup draw along with my other holy grail brushes! The only complaint I would have is that the brush type isn't clear. For someone like me that is still learning what each brush does I have no idea which is which until I google searched it. But for me that is minor and doesn't hurt the quality of these babies. New besties!
These brushes have found their way into my most used brush collection. I have a few brushes that I use often and after receiving these I have used them nearly every day!
The brown bristles are nice and soft, but remain sturdy and easy to use. I wasn't entirely sure which brush was which at first as they are quite similar in size, the blending brush is just a little rounder. I think it would be better if one of the brushes was smaller than the other. The black handles are just the right size, they're not too thick and not too thin.
My everyday look consists of nude eyeshadows and soft browns with eyeliner. I wouldn't recommend these brushes for darker eyeshadows or anything intricate as they are on the larger side which makes them harder to control, with more natural colours they are brilliant.
I've tried them with my all of my favourite eyeshadows and it all goes on nice and smooth. The blending brush really does help to blend, I have a couple of other brushes that claim to be blending brushes but can't get the job done, but these Carousel ones sure do.
They were also easy to wash and didn't lose any of the bristles.
Tips: Fast and easy application for more natural colours. It was quite hard to get more detailed and darker eyeshadows to look good as they're not very small brushes!
