I've been struck by a smooth miracle!

This is just so, so good!

I'm new to the whole primer business - probably because I don't wear 'a full face' with foundation often. I'm more of a BB cream girl, so didn't really see the point.

Well, I'm a primer convert now thanks to BR!

The pump bottle does look a little small but don't be put off, a little goes a long way. The pump is very sturdy and distributes a good amount of product in your hand.

The primer is a smooth and even consistency, and really white, I had visions in my head it would go on like clown paint, but it was no effort at all to rub in!

I waited a minute or two and applied the MF foundation I'm also trying (spoiler alert for that review..I'll be using foundation a lot more now!) - my mind was blown. It went on like a dream! And it didn't just improve foundation application - Eyeshadow was much easier to apply, as was my under eye concealer. Both went on smoothly and evenly.

The foundation lasted longer with the primer and it seemed to withstand the weather (we've been really rainy and now really hot - and my foundation isn't running or slip-sliding away!)

Now I don't like shiny skin, but I find ridiculously matte finishes to be unnatural. This leaves you with a happy medium - your skin glows and your foundation doesn't look 'flat'

So for $42 would I buy again? YES! I would even pay more to be honest. It's become a daily staple in my routine, and trust me, I don't let products in to the daily routine easily!

Tips: Let your moisturiser sink in for a couple of minutes and then apply. Then let this sink in for a few minutes before applying foundation.

I liked that too Mamacita, my make up looked the same at the end of the day as it did at the beginning. Great review by the way.

Won't be on my favourites list

Oh dear, I feel bad that 2/2 Max Factors products I was lucky enough to be selected to trial just haven't worked on my skin.

I'm a little bit more impressed with this than I was with the foundation, but not enough to actually repurchase.

The pump tube it comes in seems to dispense exactly the right amount in one pump to cover my face an neck, so that's handy! The packaging is still pretty dated but slightly nicer than the foundation. I used my fingers to apply this primer and although I found it easy to spread all over my face and it did absorb well it was a lot heavier than any primer I've used before.

My skin felt considerably smoother after application and it helped the miracle smooth foundation apply better and last longer than when I tried the foundation without primer. Having said that, you'd think I'd give it a higher rating, but I just didn't "feel" this primer. It could be partly because I disliked the foundation so much that I felt the primer played a part in that too.

I didn't use the primer with any other foundation as I typically use double wear and Oasis BB cream, neither of which require a primer. Perhaps I would have felt a bit different about this primer if I had something else suitable at home to trial it with but I didn't.

Overall - not bad but not great enough to say I would repurchase.

Sorry Max Factor. Maybe it's my skin type. I just don't know.

Lil bit average, sadly

I dunno what's with Max Factor and their lack of info on their bottles. I don't like it. I like being told all the things a product does on the bottle, rather than having to find the info through their site - and even then it's not much better! So first negative, lack of info.

The bottle is just plain plastic, covered in an unevenly applied sticker. Has the thought crossed my mind to peel it off and fix it? You bet. The bottle is one of those fandangly magic ones, when you pump and the product is pushed up from the bottom - I dunno how they work but it is magical.

The primer is white, and looks a lot like a moisturizer. It smells like one too, but then it also has that underlying noodle smell we talked about in my foundation review. Very, very odd thing to fragrance your products with. I personally would've loved no fragrance.

The pump dispenses a large amount, its maybe a bit smaller than a baked bean. Maybe not. If the bean was a circle, we would be on the money. It's very thick, again like a moisturizer, and I have no doubt the bean amount of primer is enough to cover your whole face. My skin was a lot smoother after use but it also felt like a moisturizer I hadn't rubbed in properly.

When I was trialing this, I only used it on half my face under foundation, so I could see how it played out. The results (won't) shock you! Foundation applied about the same, maybe slightly easier over this primer. The foundation on and around my eyelids was actually quite tolerable, whereas on the side that had none, it was cakey and looked like I hadn't washed the sleep from my eyes. I also feel like the primed side of my face was a lot softer than the other side, but as for wear time, I noticed they were about the same.

I truly wanted to like this but again, I don't think I do. Maybe if it was used under a foundation I do like, we would be okay but otherwise, this primer is really nothing special, and for the price I'd rather get something else.

Tips: Let the primer sit on your face for 5 mins before applying foundation :-)

Smooth Miracle Primer

Thanks again to BR, I was selected to trial this primer paired with the Max Factor Luminizer Foundation.

As with the foundation, I was relieved to see this primer was in a bottle with a pumper that had a bottom that pushes the product to the top - no wastage! The bottle is solid plastic, with a sturdy pumper & solid plastic secure lid to top it off. I also like that the bottle is clear which lets you know (without looking at the bottom) how much product you've got left. There was practically no scent to this, but it did slightly remind me of the scent of sunscreen which I had no issues with.

This Smooth Miracle Primer claims to smooth skin texture to provide a smooth and even foundation application - which is primarily the reason I apply primer in the first instance - so to me this name suggests it is/or should be a lot better than other primers. One pump of this is all you need to cover your entire face. The product feels a lot like a moisturiser and glides over your skin like a moisturiser would. However it didn't leave my skin feeling greasy at all, my skin felt smooth and soft. At this point I'd like to point out that my skin type is "dry". With this in mind, I applied foundation after one pump of primer and also applied foundation at another time after using two pumps of primer. Whilst this is a beautiful primer, my foundation applied better after using extra primer as my dry skin absorbed the primer too fast after one pump.

Would I repurchase? For the price and amount of product, and bearing in mind I have dry skin, I wouldn't repurchase this primer. I found no difference in using the primer with other foundations and no difference using the foundation with different primers. To me this all comes down to my dry skin for the primer - I was using more primer than I should so perhaps this should be recommended for "normal" skin.

Tips: One pump is all you need to cover your entire face!

Miracle Primer

I have only just in the past year been using a primer, I can tell everyone now how important it is to own one and use one. It makes a huge difference to the way a foundation sits on your skin.

I love a matte finish when it comes to makeup. But I love a smooth skin tone illusion aswell. One that makes my skin look pore less and flawless.

This primer has such and obscure smell to it. A little chemically, a little almond smelling. It's white in colour and it's on the thicker side in comparison to ones I have used.

I've used this over 2 weeks with the Miracle touch Max Factor Foundation and with a Maybelline foundation and it really does make a difference to the way both foundations have sat on my face and stayed on it.

I use 2 pumps to have enough product to cover my face. I let it sit on my skin for 2 minutes before proceeding with my foundation. The formula is quite a silky texture but almost feels like a powder once dried. With foundation overy the top both sat amazingly and had similar results. My skin was even, it was absolutely flawless and left it looking incredibly natural. The longevity I easily found 8 hours easy. With no patches or no areas where my makeup had shifted.

I really enjoy this primer and will be adding it to my buy again list, however the price is a little steep so only when and if it's on special.

Thank you BR for allowing me to be apart of this trial.

Tips: Use your finger tips to massage it into your skin to get an evendors coverage.

Not at its Prime for me

I have never really had luck when it comes to primers. I have been inundated with thick primers that I could scratch off and leave a dent or they are far too thin and more like a overrated moisturiser. Imagine my surprise when I found out I was going to be trialing a primer along with a foundation. Ecstatic is what it was.

The bottle is a white and gold pump variety. I love its simplicity but with class. The gold makes it appear far more high end than it really is. For 30ml at $42.99 I hoped this was a less is more situation because 30ml is tiny when it comes to a full face primer. The bottle has very minimal information which annoys me to no end. It has no directions and only one sentence about what it hopes to offer. Even tho applying a primer shouldn't be rocket science it would be nice to be able to read their take on how it should be used.

The primer itself is white and very thick. I find that it is a bit too thick for my liking. I understand that it needs to smooth and make foundation appear flawless but to feel like I am rubbing cream cheese on my face is very unsavory in my opinion. It is very unpleasant trying to rub it in to my skin to make it disappear and not sit as a film on my skin. The real test is does it give me a smooth base. The first time I used it together with the foundation I didn't wait for it to dry so after a couple of hours had passed my skin was the oiliest it has ever been. I was asked if I had just come from th gym that's how bad it was!!

The next day I waited for the primer to dry and absorb more thoroughly but this put a 5 minute dent in to my very limited morning. This is not a great time management primer to use. After the drying period I applied the foundation and was underwhelmed by how uneven my skin was. I smoothed this primer over my entire face so there is no way it should be uneven. In areas it was patchy and I came to the conclusion that it was where my normal dry patches usually are. I thought it smoothed out skin?! What a crock I thought. I continued to use it teamed with the foundation nonetheless but with the same results. I actually found the foundation sat better without the primer...go figure. In summary I am completely underwhelmed and would never purchase it given the chance. I find that cheaper brands are far more superior in its performance. Don't waste your money.

Tips: Wait for it to dry/absorb before applying foundation to avoid oiliness if you have oil prone skin

Primed and Smooth

I was fortunate enough to receive this primer as a trial, in a duo with the Max Factor Skin Luminizer Foundation. It comes in similar packaging, a plastic bottle with gold trim and a white pump. It is a 30ml bottle and is light and easy to handle.

The pump dispenses an appropriate amount of product, and the primer itself is quite thick, so you don’t need to use much. It has no detectable scent. It absorbs well, leaving a soft waxy sheen on which to apply the foundation. When I first got both products I tried the foundation on half of the back of my hand without the primer, then the other half with the primer. The difference was quite remarkable. It toned the colour of the foundation and set it onto my skin much more smoothly. The product claims to provide smooth and even found application, and it certainly does that. It claims to create a smooth layer between moisturiser and foundation, and it does, as long as the moisturiser isn’t too heavy and has ample time to absorb before the primer is applied (learned from experience!).

Then I tried it on my face. And can see the same results. It helped bring out the glow from the foundation and makes the application of the foundation smooth and simple as it did on my hand. In terms of comparing it to other primers, I have only tried a couple of others – one was about the same as this and the other is inferior. So, I think it’s pretty good.

I have been using it daily under the Max Factor Skin Luminizer Foundation and the combination works well.

It feels a little pricey at $42.99, but it will last for ages because of the small amount required each time, and I like using it with the Max Factor foundation, so I would consider repurchasing them together in the future, especially if there was a deal to get a discount for buying both, as there is at the moment.

Tips: Apply to cleansed, toned, moisturised, skin, and allow a little time to set then apply foundation for a smooth and even finish.

Great smoothing primer

After using this for a week now I can say I am happy with its performance. The bottle will last me a long time, as a single pump is enough to cover my entire face. I like that it is transparent as you can see how much you've got left to go. I like pump bottles more than pots due to them being more hygienic. The primer is a shiny white cream and smoothes on to the skin easily with your fingers. Once applied my face felt silky smooth and made the application of my foundation a lot more even. I would definitely use this again as it's good value and feels nice on your face, when at the same time it helps you get a good look with your foundation.

Tips: One pump is plenty for your whole face.

For A Smooth Surface

I trialled the Max Factor Smooth Miracle Primer along with the Miracle Touch Foundation (foundation reviewed separately).

The Smooth Miracle Primer comes in a standard 30ml pump bottle. The pump disperses the product easily and gives the right amount of product. I use a couple of pumps to cover my face.

The primer instantly smooths the skin, making fine lines disappear temporarily and creating a smoother base for the foundation. With the primer, it also feels like the foundation sits more on top of the skin.

The primer is white in the pump bottle but is clear when applied to the face. I leave it for about half a minute to set slightly, the apply foundation. I tested this foundation with and without primer, and I found with primer, the foundation lasted better.

I think it creates a great base for foundation. I do think the packaging could look a little more exciting however.

Tips: Wait at least half a minute before applying foundation, to let the primer set.

Max Factor Miracle Smooth Primer

Wow what a beautiful surface this primer provides for my skin. I applied it in between my moisturiser and my foundation. The product is beautiful, smooth and creamy in consistency. It provides my skin with a smooth finish, and foundation ready! Again (same as the foundation) I love the packaging for this – the added bonus of having a pump, ensuring I don’t use too much product when it’s not needed. One pump was enough to prep my entire face, so this product is sure too last me awhile! Although the product is quite a thick consistency when it comes out of the pump - after rubbing the primer into my skin it feels invisible – I couldn’t even feel the product on my face! My foundation glided on without any problems and has good staying for power most of the day. It feels very moisturising also. The product is a white primer. Again, I’m very surprised with the quality of the max factor products – definitely keen to give other products in their range a go, and will be sure to repurchase this primer.

Tips: Great match with the max factor foundation :)
