Long wearing and shades that suit me

For the first few years when OPI was the big brand in polish and all the rage I couldn't figure out what all the fuss was about, I owned a couple of shades, they were pretty and at the time it was hard to find good nude shades in many brands (early 2000's) so I would purchase but never found the formula that amazing - it seemed to take ages to dry, and chipped easily. Now a good decade later and they have reformulated (plus taken out the 3 big nasties) I seem to have a much better experience from OPI. Every polish dries quickly (quicker than most other brands fast dry formulas), most are opaque and they last the distance, I am constantly using my hands (making jewellery/painting/knitting, constant gardening, handwashing because of owning dogs etc) and this stuff really does hold up. Another bonus is OPI always carries shades that wear well on my skintone, this is one brand that carries classic lines, and recent releases that carry definite cool, warm and fashion tones which work on a range of skintones. I can always find the perfect neutral polish, a flattering coral/teracotta pink or beige, or the perfect red that will work with my skintone. My most fave and definite repurchases (my top 5 of all time) are the shades 'San tan tonio', 'crepes suziette', 'schnapps out of it', 'did someone say par-tay' and 'chocolate moose'. Unfortunately the last 4 have been discontinued but if I can find them somewhere I will definitely repurchase as they are the best muted off-tone shades for my skintone (incredibly pale and yellow). This is also a brand where I can skimp on basecoats, topcoats and not worry about discoloration/peeling etc.

OPI

I find OPI chips really easily I am a very active busy worker and I find after 2 days my nail varnish has chipped but this is due to alot of wear and tear in my job. I find the OPI sand range brilliant as it doesnt chip and I can go 3 weeks without repainting it. I love how easy it it to apply the coats, how good they look, the brilliant range of colours. Not a fan of the shatter range though and find them quite pricey in contrast to other brands

Tips: Use a base coat, 1 or 2 layers of lacquer and a top coat for best results

One of the best!

I've tried many different nail polishes in the hopes of finding one that last longer than a day or 2 without starting to chip.. OPI is definitely the best I've found so far. It still starts to chip after about 3 or 4 days with normal day to day wear and tear but it does last longer than other nail polishes. It drys quickly (always a bonus) goes on really nicely, not thick and glugy. It doesn't streak and you only need 2 coats for a perfect shiny finishy. My fav is the liquid sand polishes. They are awesome and look amazing! They don't rub off either. The rang of colours is fantastic! I love their fast drying top coat too, makes any brand nail polish last longer and it's super shiny! The price isn't too bad, usually around $20. Which I think is really fair for a top quality polish!! By far my favorite!

OPI lover!

I love OPI nail polishes! I have tried other brands around the same price range and I would have to say OPI is the only one definatly worth the money! The colour range available is great! The formula is nice and thick enough not to need more than one coat and it doesn't take forever to dry. By by far favourite colour is My Private Jet, its a charcoal almost black with specks of suttle glitter in it. The only thing I will say about OPI is the staying power isn't great, I wouldn't say that they last any longer than a more affordable brand. But the finish coat of the OPI nail lacquers looks just like a salon job :)

Opi convert!

I remember the first time I saw OPI Nail Lacquer- I was so shocked at the price! It seemed insane to me at the time that any would pay $22 for a nail polish- lucky for me I was given a small sample bottle to try and after one application the price was justified to me!

First of all I hadn't heard of a 'Lacquer' before and assumed it was the same as a 'polish' WRONG! The lacquer went on son evenly and dried so much quicker- also the finish was amazing, so solid and shiny not at all streaky and it wore beautifully- didn't chip or wear off at all.

I was in love with my latest find and quickly became somewhat of an OPI addict!!

The colour range OPI offers is amazing and there is always the perfect shade to be discovered no matter how out there. At first I was a bit skeptical of the size of the bottle and the fact that every other nail polish Ive ever used goes gluggy before I get to the bottom- but it OPI! The consistency stays the same for years right down to the bottom of the bottle. The other feature of this product I find great is the brush- I seems to be of exceptional quality and I never get any stray hairs mucking up my stroke not even when it's getting very old and used.

I'm definitely a loyal OPI girl and am yet to find a product that even comes close (though its only very rarely I stray!!)

The only brand I trust

I love painting my nails but unfortunately nail polish seems to not like me with the polish normally peeling off straight away no matter what I do. This however is the only polish that lasts. The colours are great and I can leave it on easily for a week before any damage occurs. Its easy to get off and constantly get compliments.

OPI Nail Lacquer

As far as regular nail polishes go- OPI make the best. Their formula makes a thick polish that doesn't take all day to dry. In general I have quite weak nails, and this polish does tend to chip quite quickly- within a day or two. If you have strong nails, then I would recommend this product, otherwise, I'd tend to lean towards using something else like gel or shellac.

OPI Nail Lacquer

i love OPI , i probably have around 15 opi nail polishes , i have had a few i didn't like but usually most colours are amazing! opi has a huge range of colours so no matter what the occasion , you are beyond to find the colour you want! they can be a bit pricey ! i usually buy mine from make up sales there $10 but even though there pricey there worth the money! They apply smooth and have a perfect brush and handle size! If you don't have any OPI in your nail polish collection you are missing out !!

Tips: Give one a try!

This is worth the money!!

This was my first nail polish that I had gotten through a whole bottle of. I have tried many other brands like Sally Hansen, Essie, Orly and a few others. This is the one polish that has never let me down!

First off I reckon this has better longevity than any of the other brands out there that I have tried so far, I worked with Orly for a couple of years at my old job and I also have purchased a couple of colours for self use. I found that the formular got thick quite quickly after opening the bottle and personally I find the brush way too small, had to do extra stokes which meant that you had to work quickly, which for some of you who are still trying to get you technique down pat, rushing is the last thing you want to do!

OPI have many different colours in many different finishes so Im sure you will find a colour if not two that your definately going to love!

I do recommend this polish to a lot of you out there as it does last a good amount of time on the nail, the formulation is nice and easy to work with and the size of the brush does all the work for you! What more could you ask for :)

Tips: Longevity of polish, I understand is a big thing for a few of you out there. First off I want to point out that it all begins on the condition that your nail is in.. If you have dry and/or brittle nails ie they peel, spilt or break easily this is going to affect how long the polish is going to last on your nail. I know this sounds so simple and easy to understand but I have experienced with a lot of clients that this simple fact is also easy to forget. So if this is a case that you deal with make sure you look after your nails and get them to a good condition before you waste your money either buying heaps of polish colours and them not lasting or getting your nails done at a Beauty Therapy clinic.

Once your nails are at a nice healthy condition then you are ready to paint! I will not stress enough that 4 coats really do make a difference! I have friends asking me all the time "Lesh! Why doesnt my nail polish last?" I say "How many coats have you applied" and they reply with "Umm maybe one colour and a top coat". This is were we go wrong. As a Beauty Therapist we are trained to apply four coats (1 base coat, 2 colour coats and 1 top coat) Simply this provides a smooth surface, a perfect colour payoff and locks everything in. When applying polish go from one pinky to the other pinky and you dont have to wait between each coat for the polish to dry, it is best that they all dry together as one complete coat.

It sounds simple enough but buffing on a regular basis (as well as applying cuticle oil) and right before you paint (no cuticle oil) is going to help the polish last, as with buffing you are, once again providing a smooth surface and there is less of a chance that flaky parts of the nail are going to lift while the polish is on.

Last but not least! Allow plenty of drying time!! In about 10 to 20 minutes they will be "touch" dry but not completey. Some do have to wait a couple of hours for it to be completey dry. A cool fan can help this process along ;)

Wow did I make this long enough for you all! I hope some of these tips have been helpful?! Please comment below if you have any other problems with your nails and polish application. Ill be more than happy to help :) xx

My Go To Polish

OPI is great ! colours are gorgeous, and long lasting in comparison to most other brands which i love (far too easy to get lazy with nails). I do wish however the colours were slightly more opaque as you do need quite a few coats to get the gorgeous colour it looks like in the bottle !

Tips: if you like me and don't want to be painting nails all the time make sure you purchase the clear top coat and apply that after the nail polish, lasts so much longer ! love it !
