Nothing like it

Oh, i remember when this was a thing! i loved it. I have a couple of pieces from this range. They work really well, it's really cool.

However this was a nightmare to take off.. it just goes everywhere!

My favourite

I was given the dark navy blue liquid sand as a gift and loved it the colour was amazing and I love the texture. Removing it was a bit more difficult than other poi polishes but it was to be expected. The only issue I had was that after a while the formula became quite thick and sticky. But other than that I would use again.

Long Term Commitment!

I have the pale pink shade ("Pussy Galore"), and I think it's really pretty, with an interesting texture.

However, it's one hell of a job to remove! I also found it necessary to wear a top coat so my nails didn't feel rough to the touch.

I definitely enjoy this nail polish, but you really have to commit to it.

Tips: use a base AND top coat

Sand texture fades easily

I got this nail polish when liquid sand was really popular and loved the look of textured nails. I have this in the colour honey rider which is a gold. Firstly, I love the sparkly gold colour of this nail polish. It goes really well with black and is good for wearing when going out. It definitely gives a nice textured look with a matte finish. It doesn't feel smooth and glossy like normal nail polish but rather like sandpaper.

I did find that the sandpaper texture of my nails wore down after a few days (obviously after being rubbed against my clothes etc) but that didn't effect the appearance of the polish at all.

The polish is quite thick, but it was surprisingly smooth to apply despite the thick texture. I applied it like normal polish (3 strokes down my nail) and found it really easy to apply as there was no streakyness. This makes it easier to touch up your nail if you missed spots or need to patch up chips, and it makes them look brand new!

This nail polish lasted ages before chipping, about 10-14 days! This nail polish was surprisingly easy to remove (I did wear a base coat), and was able to remove the polish like I normally would.

Overall I really liked this nail polish and was happy with the results. I think it was same price as normal OPI polish and I would definitely purchase other colours in this range, although I think one liquid sand polish is enough for me as I prefer normal un-texturised Polish.

Fun but also a pain

I've lost my enthusiasm for these since they first came out, I like the texture and how unique and different it is, but I also find it gritty to wear, hard to remove and the colours are often quite sheer, meaning you have to either build up the colour through thick layers of sand, or wear the sand over a colour. Some are worse than others at this. Theres a nice range of colours now in the Liquid Sand range, and often good specials (BUT some of these are from non-reputable sources, and may not even be genuine so be careful).

Tips: Wear a base coat to ease removal and protect your nails

My favourite

I really like OPI's nail polishes, and the Liquid Sand range is my favourite. I prefer a shiny, shimmery finish to that of a matte finish, so I always end up buying the shimmery polishes. That makes the Liquid Sand range perfect for me. It really does go on like liquid sand, but made of glitter. It has great staying power too and lasts on my nails for a long time. My very favourite is the shade, Make Him Mine, which is a natural looking pink colour, but has great sparkle, and it goes on thickly so you do not need to apply more than a couple of coats.

Tips: The glitter in the polish means it has great staying power, however, that also makes it difficult to remove when it does start to wear off. I think it is worth it though.

Not worth the trouble

I picked up a couple of these on sale for a few dollars each, and was interested to try them as they looked quite glittery and pretty in the bottle. However, I found the colours applied a lot more dull and matte than they look, even with multiple coats and a top coat. The texture was fine, it wasn't too lumpy or thick, and the formula seemed to stay on a long time without chipping which was excellent. However, it was almost impossible to remove. I went through heaps of nail polish remover and cotton pads, and when I finally got it off my nails still felt really rough. I usually like OPI, but I don't think I'd ever buy this again, even at the reduced price.

Not sure

I have a liquid sand polish in a dark, navy blue colour. It is definitely something to get used to, that's for sure!

I found it felt a little weird. It just wasn't something I was used to - I am used to a smooth gel or matte finish; this is harsh and feels like sand. It is a little strange!

On the plus side it does last a long time without chipping. On the bad side, it is a right pain to remove. You really have to soak your nails on a pad soaked in remover and really hope for the best. It is definitely not a quick removal. So for this reason, I am on the fence.

Tips: Soak cotton pads in nail polish remover and then hold these on each nail for a while to remove the polish more gently than scrubbing!

Super long lasting

This stuff will not leave your nails, which is a blessing and a curse.

The bottle is like the standard OPI bottle, but with a textured handle. The lacquer applies really well, and it's easy to put on, doesn't require a very steady hand.

When dried, the polish is textured like sand (go figure), which is nice for a change than the normal glossy finish.

Also, if you're the type of person who likes to just leave your polish on for ages - you're in luck! This still will not go away. But good luck when you want to take it off! You'll need a lot of remover and a lot of cotton balls.

10 pads of remover later?!

I bought this off a BR lovely as my first ever OPI nail polish! Imagine the excitement I was feeling at using my first OPI! Oh the very thrill of it! I didn't pay full price obviously as it was second hand. I have the colour Honey Ryder which is a gold colour with shimmer throughout to give it some pop!

I love that there is a label attached to the bottle that allows me to feel the texture of how it will dry once applied. It does indeed feel like sand has been mixed with nailpolish and put on my nails. It's very rough but lessens once I put my clear coat on. I prefer it with the top coat because it tends to catch on my clothes and chip without it.

The size of the bottle is quite generous but for the RRP price I would expect it to be that big anyway. The brush is not my favorite. It's quite small and skinny but it is long which I prefer for my big un-girly hands. It's far too skinny which means that I have to use more than two swipes to ensure that I get the best coverage I can with minimal effort. It doesn't hold alot of polish on it either which means I have to redip at least once to get enough product for each nail.

The formula is quite thick which is quality to me. It means that I don't have to keep reapplying to get the colour that I expect it to be. It dries pretty fast to my surprise. It was touch dry within three minutes and dry enough to go and do the things I always do within ten minutes without fear of scratching or chipping it easily.

The lasting power is actually quite amazing and just goes to show that money is in this case worth it for the quality you get. I love it all until that is removing it! I used ten pads and around 4 tablespoons of remover to get it all off! The elbow grease it took to remove it was ridiculous! It also left glitter and shards of polish all over the place! I had to vacuum afterwards because it looked gross all over the floor. I was going to score big until it came to removal. This could be considered a good thing, that it's tough wearing but it's actually more irritating that anything and messed up my house! Not a huge fan anymore.

Tips: Get ready to give your arms a work out trying to get it off
