Nudes

I was so excited to try this because I've heard a lot of mixed reviews on it so to be able to test it out myself was amazing. I am a huge fan of nude eye shadows and the colours in this palette are beautiful and I found it really easy to mix and match all the colours.

I was a bit disappointed in the pigmentation of some of the colours. For example the first shade in the top row and the third shade on the bottom row are not very pigmented even if I try to build them up. However I do think that in most palettes you do get shades that are less pigmented than others. My favourite shades were the taupe colours which is the first shade in the bottom row and the fourth shade in the top row. These two colours have a decent pigmentation and look very pretty together as one is a matte shade and the other is more shimmery and they are very easy to blend.

In other reviews I noticed people found some of the colours very similar and I kind of agree because as I mentioned before that my favourite shades are the taupes and they are actually the exact same colour, they just have different finishes. I also think they have too many highlight shades. In this palette they have 3 and I think the most they should have included is 2. One thing I was very impressed with was all the matte shade and amazing pigmentation so I think this palette I would use more for the matte shades rather than the shimmery ones.

Overall I think it is a decent palette however I think there are better alternatives like the Chi Chi palettes.

Well who knew??

I've always envied those ladies who rock out a gorgeous neutral eye. Personally up until now I've always ended up with it either looking invisible or looking like i've been punched in the eye.

However, as I was lucky enough to trial this nude palette I thought it was time to put my back into it and try something new.

The palette itself is a very generous with it's shades and is in really robust packaging. It has 12 different nude shades that can either work on their own or in different configurations depending on the look you are after. There is a nice combination of highlighters, shimmers and various taupe to brown shades.

I've been following the Vloggers that have been posting their looks using the palettes and my favourite one thus far is Jah's look. I've almost perfected it (falsies and all) and i've had many compliments about my make up. The colours have great stayability and I think for $30 this is a pretty amazing buy.

Next look - Sophie Garth Night Nudes...stand by!

Thanks Maybelline!

Tips: I love Jah's tip of using one of the light colours as a setting shade over concealer as a base. I find it really sets your look.

Basic, bold and blendable!

First impressions: I thought the palette was rather small however there is a decent amount of shadow per colour and this makes the palette more compact for travelling. The packaging was a little bit cheap feeling but the graphics are sleek and the tips on the back of the product are handy for quick makeup looks.

Opening the product: When first opened, I was immediately drawn to the fact that there is a variety of matte shades and shimmer shades - the matte shades were the perfect base and crease colours, or used on their own for a natural subtle look and the shimmers can spice up the look, turning day time into evening. The second thing I noticed was the tool to apply the eyeshadow. I don't like the sponge head sticks and would be completely impressed if a lower end brand had some sort of brush to apply the shadow.

Use of shadows: I used the matte white colour first on my crease as a base to make my later eyeshadow bold. Secondly I used the lightest matte brown in my crease as a transition shade, I then blended my outer V with the darkest matte brown shade. Followed by applying the bronze shimmer shade in the centre and reapplying my outer V (this colour also went on my bottom lash line). Lastly, I added some of that white matte colour back into my inner corner to brighten and widen my eyes. I found all of the colours to be very blendable and easy to work with. The shadows weren't as opaque as I like but I could build them up easily.

I would recommend this palette to anyone who loves a good nude, but specifically any beginner wanting a great basic selection of colours to work with that are easy to blend and gives you a variety of makeup looks.

Tips: Apply liquid liner or smudge a black pencil liner along your lash line for a more dramatic look with these shadows.

Try using your finger for the gold/bold colours and pat the colours down so you get more pigment and ultimately a more opaque finish.

The Nudes...

Straight away I give this a product 10 out of 10! Could be that I'm a beginner when it come to Palettes or could just be that I find it simply stunning and easy to work with!

I received it on a Friday morning and by Midday I had it on!

The packaging is great, I really like how it comes with the wee plastic glove over the compact. On the back of the plastic glove it shows the Duos, Trios and Quads and where they should go upon the eyelid. The compact with the shades in is sturdy and tightly sealed. The wee see through window on the front is Cute, I would love to see it have a wee mirror on the inside for when you're out and about. I'm not a big fan of the brush it comes with, it didn't pick up the amount I needed and didn't serve its purpose in the looks I tried to create. My advice use an eye shadow brushes and blender if you have these x

The colours them selves are simple and stunning. I found using different techniques to apply them to the eyelid made them stand out more at times than others ie using the brush provided they come out quite light, using my own makeup brush they came out darker.

Now for the first two attempts I didn't have a brush to blend the looks together, I used the middle quad and found even though I didn't blend they still sat nicely together when just applied with a brush.

For being a newbie to Palettes I liked the info on the back about what should go where. For my first try I did what it said, it worked great. For beginners I think this is a really cool feature on the product to have it's really helpful. Eventually I got brave and changed things up using just the shades I wanted too and they still looked great together.

From shimmers to Matte shades, you can create any look. From an everyday makeup look to a Smokey eye going out look. What's even better?? I used it to fill my eyebrows in to give them more definition!

All in all I love this product, I will continue to use it. Thank you BR and Maybelline for introducing me into the world of Palettes. this product for me is ACE!

Tips: I found having my own brush to apply the eye shadow much more handy than the one provided x

Time to go Nude!

When I first received the palette, I was super excited as I've never owned an eyeshadow palette before and don't wear it on an everyday basis. The packaging of the eyeshadow is sleek and black and has a clear pane to see the colours inside. It's also quite small so is super compact! The lid closes really securely which I also enjoy because it feels sturdy and is unlikely to open and get fall out everywhere or break.

The sponge tip applicator it comes with is quite flimsy and doesn't really work well for applying eyeshadow as it doesn't pick up enough product and often breaks. Investing in brushes (I use the Carousel ones I picked up in the vault) will definitely be useful.

The colours themselves look amazing in the pan and there is a lot of variety, however, upon swatching, I found that some of the lighter shades and some of the browns actually appear quite similar.

I like the idea of them being organised into duos, trios and quads. I find that the duos are good for an everyday look, where you just want to even out the skin tone and define the crease; the trios are good for if you want to emphasise the outer V for more definition, and the quads are great for creating a smoky eye. Even though I haven't used eyeshadow much before, from the watching of many youtube videos and the instructions on the packaging, I found this really easy to use. I've also started to just use the colours based on instinct and to create my own looks.

Firstly, the pigmentation isn't the best and I found that the shimmery ones could be a bit chalky and powdery. Some of the shades also didn't have much colour payoff. However, I don't mind this because they are really easy to build up and for a beginner like me, it's better to start out with less than to have too much and end up with panda eyes.

I find that the shadows are really easy to blend and the colours merge into each other seamlessly. I also like how you can use this palette for natural looks and to build up for more dramatic looks.

It's also multipurpose, and with BR's article, I have found quite a few uses for this palette other than just eyeshadow. There is a cool toned grey shade which I really like using to fill in my brows, it makes them look natural and defined and matches my hairs perfectly! I also find that some of the shimmery shades work as excellent powder highlights and depending on your skin tone, you can also contour and bronze with some of the browns (I like shade 2 on the bottom row for contouring my cheekbones and nose because it's cool toned and gives a 'shadow' effect and I'll mix it with a warmer brown for slight bronzing). It also works well for setting eyeliner.

It's not the best quality out there, but I think it is a basic multipurpose palette that works well.

Tips: Not just eyeshadow! Depending on your skin tone, use it as brow powder, eye lining, contouring, bronzing and highlighting!

100% Dreamy!

I am a complete brown smokey eye addict, and wear a combination of nude shades on a daily basis. Palettes are so useful when it comes to creating a cohesive eye look - and the Maybelline The Nudes Palette was quite simply AMAZING!

Firstly, the packaging of this palette is sleek, chic and use-friendly. I love the protective plastic sleeve over the stylish outer casing, and the useful diagrams to help out with where to best apply the shadows. If you were someone just starting out with makeup this would be super helpful, as it can often be confusing deciding where to place each shade on the eye area. I also love the way in which this palette is designed to be divided into sections of 2, 3 and 4 complimentary shades, depending on how many colours you want for your look.

The shadows themselves come in a GORGEOUS range of colours - my favourites being the lighter matte browns, which compliment my skin perfectly. All of the tones look beautiful together, and blend very easily into one another to create the perfect smokey look.

These shadows have the perfect pigmentation, and I noticed zero fallout during application. They also last all day long with no smudging, fading, or creasing. I received compliments on this shadow, which is always a sign that it's doing something right!

My personal favourite way to apply these powders is to take a light, shimmery shade for the entire eye area, then apply a light shade of brown across the lid. Finally I take a darker brown and dab it into the corners, and slightly into the crease, for extra shadow and oomph.

Tips: I always use an eyeshadow primer before using eyeshadow, just to help it last the entire day.

A good first beginners palette

I was lucky enough to get to trial this palette and was very excited to have a play with a new palette. I love nude/brown eyeshadows so always on the lookout for any new products.

Firstly I thought the packaging was quite good - the case was sturdy and I liked how it was compact - perfect for travel if you have limited space but still want to bring a range of shadows. I tried swatches of all the colours and felt like some of them took a bit to build up a good colour, they weren't as pigmented as some of the more expensive palettes I own.

I used an eye primer (urban decay) to make the shadows stay on my lid and wore them all day - at the end of the day there was a small amount of creasing which does not normally happen when using my eye primer so a bit disappointed about that.

I enjoyed the majority of the colours - some of them were quite similar but in different finishes (sparkly, matte). I thought it was a good range for a basic nude palette and you could do many looks with the palette from day time makeup to a more smokey eye for night.

Overall I think this product would be good for someone wanting to buy their first palette for an affordable price. You can't go past 30 bucks for 12 eyeshadows it really is a bargain.

I will probably use this palette again to go travelling with especially as you can use the matte brown as a good eyebrow shadow which makes it multipurpose.

Tips: I would recommend using an eye primer to help the shadow stay on longer. The matte brown can be used on eyebrows too.

I found the E.L.F. Mineral Eyeshadow Primer made the shadow stay in place all day without creasing :)

Maybelline The Nudes Palette

Colours: This is such a gorgeous palette if you are into neutral colours. The colours are easy to blend and build up and easy to mix and match colours, the shade selection is great. There are colours in the palette to do both day and night looks to create a party look – daytime neutral eye or a deep smokey eye. There are so many colours in the palette that I feel it is definitely worth the money. The palette definitely works best when a primer is applied to the eyelids prior to applying the shadows to make the colours last longer (as the colours don’t last as long without it). Packaging: I like the size of the palette also, a nice size for travelling as it will fit in your makeup bag as well. The packaging is also quite sturdy so it’s going to be travel-friendly. The only thing that would have made this palette extra great would have been if it came with a mirror so you can apply the shadows on the go. The other con would be the standard eye shadow spongy applicators that it comes with to apply the shadows however this is pretty standard for these brands – it would have made it that little bit better if it did come with a mini eye shadow brush. Definitely a great palette for those who are on a budget, those new to makeup, and those who want to experiment with different looks than splurging on high-end makeup :)

Tips: Definitely use primer before applying the shadows so they last longer :)

Good value palette

I have all the palettes in the urban decay naked range, and was keen to try this out to see how it compares to them as a cheaper alternative.

The packaging is nice and sturdy, doesn't feel too plasticky and cheap like some of the dupe palettes out there. The colours all go well together and there is a good explanation of the duos and trios and quads on the back of the packaging which is great for people who might be newer to shadow to make it easier for them to put colours together.

I found that the shadows are not as pigmented as the UD ones, and require a bit more layering and blending to get the colours payoff, but they have a nice texture.

I found that using an eyeshadow primer made a huge difference to the colour payoff I got, particularly with the lighter colours as they are a bit more chalky and don't apply as smoothly.

Overall it's a really nice little palette for a "drugstore" version of a higher end product, and good for those that want a nude palette without shelling out lots of $$. It's also a great pallette for those who want to practice and experiment with nudes before committing to a higher end product. I would still go for my urban decay naked range before I picked this up, but it's good for what it is!

Tips: Use a good eyeshadow primer to get the best colour payoff.

Yes to "The Nudes"

Watching this palette take centre stage with it's feature on BR had me gazing at it in admiration - it definitely caught everyone's eye! It quickly skyrocketed to the top of my wishlist. I love the idea that a nude palette can have multiple uses (for highlighter, brow filler and more).. Oh how I felt I needed this nude palette in my life, and BR came to the answer. Thanks BR x

Before getting this palette, eyeshadow was for the most part reserved for special events. So, eyeshadow was not generally part of my daily makeup routine. This palette has quickly changed that for me! The reason why I have steered away from eyeshadow in the past is a couple of reasons.. I thought it could be abit 'too much' for daytime wear. Secondly, I also felt application of eyeshadow can be quite tricky! This palette has proven me wrong in both of these. I've realised eyeshadow can look lovely and subtle for everyday wear (not just smokey eyes and going out). Also, with practice (and referring to instructions) , application just gets easier as you gain confidence.

Maybelline is a brand I'm very familiar with (and love their mascaras), so I was hoping this would be added to the list of Maybelline products that impress me! The palette looks modern with it's black case and silver writing, that is sleek and stylish. The palette is made of black sturdy plastic, with a clear plastic lid which reveals the lovely colours below it. I found the added instructions on the plastic sleeve casing of how to use the shadows useful (I definitely had to refer to these, and the more I experimented with the shadows the more confident I became). I think guided instructions are helpful for those of you that are just starting your eyeshadow journey.

As with most applicators that are included with eyeshadows, it's so much better to use your own brush (such as Real Techniques), as you get a better result and so much easier to blend. The applicator that is included feels slightly rough and not the easiest to use on my sensitive eyes.

I love the palettes cheeky name 'in the nudes'. It has a wide spectrum of twelve neutral colours, from creams to tans and browns. These colours give you the opportunity to create different looks depending on what you are after, whether it be subtle and fresh or bold and sultry.

The eyeshadows are a lovely range of colours, with some being block matte colour, while others have shimmer/sparkle. The pigmentation gets better the more you apply, and the formula is very buildable. For me, and someone starting out on the eyeshadow journey this palette is perfect and such a great product. The palette has different looks that you can create based on the colours, such as quads, trios and duos. I also love that it can be used for many other uses such as highlighter and filling in your brows. It definitely is a multi-use product.

Overall, this nude palette is lovely and it has quickly ignited my passion for eyeshadow -it's now a staple in my makeup bag.

Tips: - If you haven't got a nude palette you should really give this a go. It's now a must in my makeup bag. - Use a primer for best results
