A classy number

I was fortunate to trial this product from BR. This is a stylish nude palette filled with colours to suit every skin tone. I liked the different eye look combinations illustrated on the back of the packaging; however I found I was selecting my own combinations that I thought worked with my eyes and skin tone. I always use a primer with any eye colour but I noticed you do need to build up the colour and blend. Some of the lighter shades didn’t really show up and some shades were a bit powdery. On the flip side some of the shades were beautifully pigmented and had a smooth blendable finish that lasted. I did use the sponge applicator that came with the palette which I think is a reasonable quality and I also used my own eye brushes when applying. Overall I like this palette, I am reaching for it daily and it’s been living in my makeup bag. It’s an all-round palette which has something to suit everyone and gives the opportunity to create some stunning eye looks.

Tips: If you can try and swatch this first to make sure you are happy with the colours and finishes.

Perfect for beginners (and everyone else!)

I was so excited to trial this product thanks to BR. My first impressions of the case were good. The palette seemed smaller than I had imagined it to be, but it was nice and sleek looking. I liked that you could see all the colours through the clear window, but I do wish it came with a mirror. It was helpful that the packaging came with detailed instructions showing which colour combinations would work best together, and where each shade should be applied. This makes it perfect for first time eyeshadow users.

The palette comes with a sponge applicator, but I suggest you chuck it and use proper eyeshadow brushes. There are 12 shades ranging from shimmery to matte. It is easy to get both day and night looks out of these shades. For the most part they were well-pigmented and they blended easily. Some of the lighter shades required a few layers, but aside from that they worked well. I also found that the darker colours applied a lot smoother and felt more velvety, while the lighter shades were a bit powdery. The colours definitely lasted longer and were more pigmented when paired with an eyelid primer. However if you don’t use a primer it’s not a big deal, as it should still last all day.

My favourite thing about this palette is that it has more than one purpose. I used it to fill in my eyebrows and found that it worked just as well as other eyebrow fillers. It can also be used as a contour and highlight.

Overall I really enjoyed this eyeshadow palette. I would definitely repurchase this again. This was my first time trying nude eyeshadows and now it is part of my daily makeup routine. If you are just getting into makeup or eyeshadow, I seriously recommend this product for you. It is affordable and great for experimenting with.

Tricky

This palette is tricky, as I've stated in the title. Sounds weird - but it's true. Here, let me explain. The Maybelline The Nudes palette is a stunning set of 12 nude coloured eyeshadows (surprise surprise) and beautiful colours at that. There are overall 6 mattes (including a trusty matte black) and 6 shimmers - which is a good, even selection.

Why I call this palette tricky is because as you swipe your finger on the product, most of them (the mattes and a few of the shimmers) feel satisfactorily creamy however, as you lift your finger up to look after a few swipes, to your despair you can still see every line on your finger - which is a sure sign that the product isn't very pigmented. I was super excited for the matte black however I found that the product was very chalky. Most shimmery shadows were worst in terms of pigmentation, the mattes up next. One of the best eyeshadows in the palette in terms of pigmentation was the bronze metallic/shimmer the fourth one on the top row - which is very pigmented, swatches nicely, applies nicely onto the eye as well. In fact the two colours, 4th accross in each row, are the best in the palette. I'd say the darker colours (apart from the black) are the best of the palette in terms of pigmentation and application.

The eyeshadow wearing power is average and doesn't last on my poor oily eyelids the whole day (without a base) however the metallic shades (4th across in each row) do last you most of the day and are perfect for a bronze smokey eye. The quality of each individual eyeshadow is honestly hit and miss. Some of the eyeshadows (particularly the light shimmers and mattes are poor in pigmentation and are often very powdery. Don't be completely fooled by the smooth feel of these eyeshadows. I found the overall pigmentation of this palette disappointing as I was only properly happy with 2 of the 12 shadows in this palette. Pity, the colours are gorge. Maybe I'm biased? I'm a owner of a Sleek Idivine.

Tips: Use the 4th colour across on both top and bottom rows to achieve a bronze smokey eye. Both colours are nicely pigmented, blend well and sit nicely on the lid. I'd say, stick to a matte black from a DIFFERENT palette for more depth as its quite chalky and difficult to blend.

Best bang for your buck

I was over the moon excited to be able to trial this, had been coveting it for ages and would have been buying it regardless! Firstly, I love the packaging. It's relatively small without being stingey, and the simple clean design is lovely. The clasp for the pallete takes a bit to open, which I like because it means less chance for little fingers to get into it! As for the shades, I think there is a good combination of Matte and shimmery shades, and the colours are all just different enough to give you so many possible looks. I kind of like that they have given tips on the back of the packaging on how to use the colours together, it's a very basic how-to but a good starting point for someone with no idea what to do. I found the shadows were all very easy to apply and blend out, and while a primer made them last longer these don't seem to need one to still look amazing. All in all I think very good value for money, especially if you don't have the funds to spend on higher end nude palletes

okaaaaay

I was extremely excited to get this palette in my hot little hands! When I first opened it, I was greeted by 12 beautiful nude shades both shimmery and matte. The back of the palette shows the duos and quads which helps when choosing what colours to wear. My first look was using the centre quad. The packaging is nice and simple, displaying all the colours nicely. It also comes with those little dual end eye shadow brushes that you always lose as soon as you open the package.

The first thing I did was swatch the palette, which if I'm honest was a little underwhelming... For the price tag, I thought it would be a lot more pigmented. Pigmentation isn't the be all and end all for me however and after some building up it does produce 12 gorgeous nude shades.

The colours all work together and there isn't one colour is the palette that I won't use. This is a big deal for me as I find I always get palettes and there is bound to be one ugly colour that sits there and never gets touched - not the case with this bad boy

But when it comes down to it - no I wouldn't purchase this palette for $30. For me the colour pay off just isn't good enough and there are a couple of colours that are very close in comparison.

Tips: Wear a primer or white base before applying to get the colours to pop!

Maybelline The Nudes Palette

I have to say that looking at it, there are shadows that look like they have doubled up on which I am not a fan of. I dont think they have enough of a difference between them to warrant adding them, so to me this is more of a 10 shadow palette.

However, what I absolutely LOVED about this is that on the back there are diagrams on how to apply these in a way to get a certain effect. And I got some great compliments! I got myself a lovely natural smokey eye (as natural as that sounds!)

As like every eye shadow, it came with the awful sponge tip applicator. I haven't used it as I have great brushes, however, I did like that it had a different size on each end.

All in all, I am really impressed with this palette. Its nice powder to apply and the info on the back proved to have very happy results with compliments from others!

Tips: Study the back of the palette to see what effect you like most and go for it!

Not the best but it's okay

My first impressions of the palette is that it looked very sleek & elegant, no unnecessary bulk or packaging. It was love at first sight but the first time I used it I was disappointed there was no mirror as I prefer to use a hand mirror when applying eye shadow. At first glance I thought the colours of the shadows were gorgeous & a good variety for creating a lot of neutral looks. I really loved the narrow ends of the sponge brush which I used to smudge the eye shadow to create a smokey effect & helped to intensify & add definition on the lower lash & inner eye area.

I liked the "how to use" duos, trios, quads demonstrations on the bottom of the palette which I thought would be really helpful for beginners and for those people who aren't really familiar with using more than 1 eye shadow, it's really good to have that direction of what to do. Also the placing of the eye shadows in the palette is a very well thought-out concept of mixing & matching.

Due to the fact that the eye shadows aren't highly pigmented or glittery I can't recommend using an eye shadow primer enough, it'll help bring out & make the colours last a lot longer. However something to think about & maybe the direction where Maybelline was heading with this product... Do you really want over the top sparkles with a nude palette? After all when I think of "nude" it makes me think of a product that enhances your natural beauty not a product that is designed to dress you up as a Vegas showgirl.

I found most of the shimmery shades to be creamy in texture but sheer once blended (again, not highly pigmented), the downside is that the matte shades were a bit difficult to blend, they were chalky/powdery and were a bit more challenging to get the desired look. I did find using a more dense brush in a patting motion worked a little better but still had to work at blending more than I would have with any other palette. I didn't like the black in the palete, it's not the blackest of blacks.. more like a ashy black/grey.

I am some what impressed with this palette, it's great having a variety of colours where you can be creative while enhancing your natural look however I do not think it is worth $30. No mirror, a little stiff & awkward to open and the textures of the eye shadows didn't perform as well I would have expected from Maybelline.

Great to know about the pigmentation of these, not sure if it will be something I end up getting, for $30

Everything you need in a nude palette

I love this palette! It has a great range of shades including some with a bit of sparkle.

The pigmentation is fantastic and I found it lasted well throughout the day with no eye primer.

As a bit of a novice with eye makeup i really appreciate a well thought out palette and this one excels at that. On the back you can see various ways of using the shades that break it down into duos, trios and quads. It takes a lot of the guess work out of it and really helpful to learn what shades work well together.

The applicator is a dual sponge type, i would have liked to see brushes included but that's only a small gripe in what is an excellent palette.

Overall this is a great palette, amazing value for money, I will definitely continue using and recommend to others.

Tips: Check out the Maybelline website for how to recreate some looks and also an interactive feature that expands on the instructions from the case and shows how to use the palette

Awesome little palette

When this palette first came out I could not wait to purchase it, I didn't own any fully nude palettes so I was pleasantly surprised when BR sent me one to trial.

The palette itself was smaller than I expected but the overall packaging was very nice. It comes with a helpful chart that shows you different eye looks and an idea of what shades match well. The eye shadows themselves were beautiful with a good mix of matte and shimmery shades.

The eye shadows were very easy to blend and had good staying power. These eye shadows were buttery, well pigmented and applied well with very little fall out.

This palette is awesome for beginners like me as it has a good mix of shades and a variety of looks can be achieved using only 12 shades, I love it.

Tips: The golden and champagne shades make for an awesome highlighter.

Lovely smooth shades

Upon receiving this I was surprised how many different shades there was! Seems to have enough shades to keep everyone with different skin tones happy. Nicely packaged with a guide on the back to help even first time users of eye shadows, know where to put each colour. Very very smooth and soft to pop on eyes and really glides well across eyelid. Big thing for me is that it LASTS, a shadow that actually lasts all day and doesn't 'crease' is AMAZING ;). All round I was really happy to trial this shadow. Have already found my perfect combo of colours.

Tips: Have a look on the packaging for different options and ideas of where to pop colours.
