I got this lippy re-gifted to me from my mum because I LOVE red lippy! The colour is so bright and pigmented, very long lasting, when i wear it on a night out i still have it on the next morning haha. I very rarely need to re-apply too. I lipstick applies really nicely, and smells nice too. It keeps my lips hydrated too, which is a bonus as some high pigmented lipsticks can be quite dry.
I own one of these in the shade 'Vivid Rose'. The packaging is simple, but very pretty. A clear pinkish-red lid, with the lipstick in silver packaging. There is a great amount of lipstick in the canister.
Vivid Rose essentially lives up to what its name describes. It's a beautiful fuschsia pink, that's extremely vivid, bold, dramatic and very pigmented. I have roses in my garden the exact same shade as this, so the name is bang on the money.
The lipstick has a nice, caramel or honey-like scent to it, which is a pleasant touch. The lipstick has a sharp point, so I find it applies precisely, without the need for lip liner. This doesn't bleed, and doesn't transfer much off my lips, even when I eat heaps wearing this. This does have a creamy formula, but not in the sense than it bleeds, transfers everywhere and needs constant reapplication. It is creamy enough to keep my lips feeling hydrated, but stays put all day. Most lipsticks require me to apply lip balm first as they dry my lips out so much, but this one is hydrating and feels lovely on my lips.
The colour is incredibly pigmented, and I love how bold this looks on my lips. This stains my lips, so there is no need to use a lip liner at all with this, due to its longevity.
This only cost me $10, which I think was a great steal, for such a well-performing lipstick. I would definitely purchase more shades of this line in the future and would recommend to anyone looking for an affordable, bold lipstick.
I received this colour Electric Orange in the September Beauty Box and at first I way thinking Yes, I can do Orange (I am odd I know), but this isn't your regular orange... no this is the brightest Orange I have ever seen in a lipstick! I have used Maybelline lipsticks before so I had an idea of what to expect in the way of application and consistency... they apply smoothly and evenly and feel buttery and moistened on the lips.
The colour... great pigmentation on the lips, even colour application and a nice sheen... but oooh that shade (I have blue hair so in complete honesty I think it clashed). I would like this if I was brunette still but I just couldn't get it to gel on me... I tried for a whole week at home, but I just couldn't get used to it.
I do love the scent (soft creamy caramel... I think), and the feel; it also lasts a long time between applications even after colour transfer to things like mugs/glassware etc. in fact it was actually quite difficult to remove and kind of looked a bit stained after a couple of days in a row.
Tips: Swatch before you buy if possible... I am not adverse to this colour at all, just not with my current hair colour :)
A perfect match for me. A red toned lippie with an orange tinge. Goes on quite effortlessly & very pigmented. To me these seem similar to chichi viva LA diVA lippy. The formula that is. The packaging is quite sleek a red lid being the outer casing and a silver bottom where the lippy retracts from. This does stain the lips and has a bit of transfer not too much some. I feel like it has a cream finish & a creamy feel to the lips which I'm ok about. I feel this is a great handbag lipstick great for on the go or touch ups to any highend shade that you ear out but can't afford to loose so have this handy for on the go.
I love this lippy, it's a very bright vivid red and suits my skin tone. The lipstick is long lasting and not too dry or too glossy on lips. The lipstick has a nice subtle coconut smell to it. Would love to use other colours in this range at some stage.
Tips: Apply and use a tissue to remove some of the lipstick for a more subtle result.
I have Maybelline Colour Sensational Vivids in "Hot Plum" which is a bright, not quite neon, cool-toned magenta pink with a satin smooth finish. The name is a little misleading as I was expecting more of a plum colour (more purple than pink) and this is definitely more pink than plum!
Hot Plum can be used as a dupe for NARS "Schiap" and the colour is also very similar to Revlon's Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in "Lovesick", only Hot Plum is one shade brighter.
I found the smooth, creamy consistency of the lipstick to be quite hydrating (while it lasted) and the long-lasting colour has a lightweight feel that leaves lips stained with colour even after the lipstick 'balm' has worn off. Even though the colour is long-lasting, it isn't non-transferable so expect lipstick marks on coffee cups, etc.
The bright orange lid feels a little flimsy but the silver tube that the lipstick bullet is packaged in is sturdy and holds a good quality lipstick that is definitely good value for money. The lipstick bullet winds down fully, so there is no chance of damaging it with the lid and the lid clips into place on the base of the tube with a satisfying click.
Maybelline's Colour Sensational Vivids in Hot Plum is a colour that is easy to wear and seems to be the most popular colour in the Vivids range.
Tips: Use a lip liner and apply the lipstick with a lip brush for a perfect, brightly coloured pout.
I won this lipstick in 'hot plum' in a competition last year. When I opened it up I thought "way too bright, will clash with my hair". In the cupboard it went, never to see daylight again.
Then Beauty Review entered my life. Inspired by articles to try something new and thinking I should get out of a rut and 'shop my stash' I finally gave this a go. And it is love!
I absolutely love the colour which is more fushia with a blue undertone, than plum. I get so many compliments when I wear this and I'm hooked on it. I went to put on my usual more muted lipstick the other day and went "nah, too boring!"
I also love the formula. This goes on very easily, with no drag. I usually use a clear liner with it but have also applied without liner, without any bleeding. It does transfer on to cups but still leaves plenty of colour behind, not just the dreaded ring around the lips. It just needs a quick swipe after eating to look fresh again. This lipstick is not drying at all. It feels really comfortable on the lips. More like a lip balm than a high colour payoff lipstick.
The only thing I'm not in love with is the packaging. It is sturdy and the lid has a reassuring click, so you can be sure it won't come off in your handbag. I just find it a bit big and clunky and it kinda gives away that this is from the cheaper end of the market. Personally I prefer more streamlined, bullet shaped packaging which I just find easier to handle. But honestly, that is the only fault I can find with this lipstick.
Love, love, love! Thank you BR for getting me out of my comfort zone. I think I have found my signature lipstick!
Tips: This has great staying power and does stain the lips. It can be easily removed with a cotton pad soaked in micellar water and pressed against the lips before swiping off.
The shade 'Shocking Coral' is definitely shocking. It's a bright pink coral with a touch of Fuchsia. I think it's quite similar to Mac Impassioned. I just love it.
The texture is creamy, not gloopy and goes on evenly. It does not settle into the fine lines. It looks creamy and has a glossy finish. The lipstick is vividly pigmented and a single swipe deposits most of the colors on the lips. A second swipe gives you a very bold and intense shade which Is extremely bold and beautiful. Despite the bold color, there is no feathering or bleeding.
The lipstick is long lasting - about 6 hours plus. Having meals did diminish the intensity of the shade but it stayed put. All in all, it's a fantastic product with a fantastic price.
I am always looking out for the perfect red, or should I say reds, because there is more than one shade of red that I like.
This red is bright and bold. On the colour spectrum I feel like it possibly has some orange undertones, but at the same time it looks like just a bright red, like fire truck bright kind of bright red.
As a lipstick it feels quite smooth and was actually quite hydrating on the lips. And of course it was well pigmented as a vivid lipstick. In terms of longevity, it also lasted better than I expected.
What I wasn't so keen on was the packaging. I felt it was cheap plastic on the lid and I feel over time that the tube and the lid won't click together so well.
Tips: Don't buy at full retail price. I've seen these come on special so many times across different stores.
