L'Oreal Paris False Lash Butterfly Sculpt Mascara Review

I'm usually a massive fan of L'Oreal mascaras and I love a fluttery eyelash look, so I figured I'd give this a go. The packaging is nice; the mascara comes in a chunky silver and black barrels with a blue and black lid. The wand is bright blue in colour, and is rubber, and has an interesting angular shape, it's sort of a flexible half triangle with bristles on only one side. I found the flexibility of the wand great, as it made it easier to get the look of curled lashes with this compared to a normal wand. However, I found the product really pooled on this kind of wand, and the excess always had to be wiped off before I used it, and even then there was still too much product. As the wand is unusual, it took some time to get used to. I found it really easy to get butterfly like fluttery lashes with this and the curled lash look, but this was really difficult to create volume with like it promises. Some days my mascara would look great, and other days a disaster! As the wand is so maneuverable, I feel this requires more care and skill when using mascara, hence the inconsistent results! Although I found it hard to create volume, the fluttery lash effect this created was really nice, and the mascara layers well on top of itself to add more volume, and doesn't clump. I did find the mascara was quite wet though and took a while to dry. This removes with makeup remover very easily, although I regret buying the non waterproof one, as if it's a hot day and I sweat, this sweats into my eyes and BURNS my eyeballs, so it's definitely not for you if you have sensitive eyes or eyes that are easily irritated.

Overall, I have mixed feelings about this mascara. It wasn't horrible, and I was able to achieve really nice fluttery lashes with this, but the lack of volume and the trickiness of using the wand at times were real downsides. This also didn't wow me unlike other L'Oreal mascaras and this is quite a hefty price tag for an average mascara, when I've tried much better mascaras in other brands for a lower price. I'll happily use this up on days when I don't want volume and just want a curled lash look, but this isn't one of L'Oreal's best mascaras and I think there's better mascaras out there from the brand.
