This shadow "pencil" isn't much of a pencil. With a crayon on one end (that isn't actually just black or smokey but has weird shiny bits that clump too much for me), and a sponge applicator on the other, this isn't really my idea of a master product. I've tried and tried and I just can't seem to get the smokey effect that I want, instead I have lumps and sore eyelids making me look like a raccoon. Very sad

this product is most handy to anyone wanting the smokey eye effect but dont have the time or technique to be able to apply to eyes.the ultra pigments make it look so effective when applied you look like yourv spent hours tryna do it.it is only simple to use in two steps you can make your eyes smokey and great you wont be disapointed if wanting to purchase this product.
I am very surprised to see all the negative reviews, I actually really enjoy this product. As a rule a usually do have really heavy eye make up and go hard on the liner, the natural look isn't really my cup of tea. If you want the natural look I wouldn't recommend this as it puts quite a lot on in one swoop. However, it worked great for me and was easy to smudge, although I gave up on the smudger tip included as it felt too hard on my eyelid and instead used my finger instead. Gives a really great, bold look.
I had previously brought another liner in the master drama range, so when I found this one in a clearance sale I decided to give it a go as well.
The packaging like the other liners in the range in a sleek black liner. The one however has the liner at one end and a smudger at the other.
When applying this liner I found in one stroke it created a thick top line and in another stroke created a thick botton line. However I often found the line a little to thick. But it worked. The smudger however made a bit of a mess and reduced the great pigmentation. So I ended up using the liner without smudging it.
Having such a thick line did often result in panda eyes at the end of the day, but it did stay on all day, even if it smudged itself out.
The liner did however not last that long and I ended up having to buy a new liner to replace it quicker than expected.
I'm the absolute queen of lazy when it comes to makeup so when I got this as a free gift I thought, why not try it out? Surely it'd be a quick way to actually make myself look like I put eyeshadow on! Welp, that was a mistake. For one thing, it dries too quickly for me to actually smudge it out and when I do it ends up patchy because the smudger takes most of it off! The staying power wasn't something to brag home about either. It worked in the way any eyeliner I got before my best gel liners would, in other words, it'd smudge before an hour was up. I'd be better off taking an extra step and smudging one of my other liners as a makeshift eyeshadow instead.
I wanted to like it when I got it but it was quite the disappointment.
I was quite surprised to discover the number of negative reviews about this eyeliner! I personally found it to be pretty good, so maybe I just struck it lucky haha.
This pencil was very soft on my eyes and easy to apply, and smudged out nicely using the sponge smudger. The colour was a perfect black pigment and lasted well all day, without fading or smudging. No complaints here!
Tips: I always apply eyeshadow primer and white eyeshadow as a base before applying eyeliner. This may have increased the staying power and overall experience of this eyeliner for me.
I brought the colours black, brown, charcoal and violet for quite cheap. I was very excited to try them all as i thought if i was in a hurry they would be easy to apply and blend out but boy was i wrong. The colours are very pigmented, i used the steps that i was meant to, draw a thick line then blend out with the smudger but i found the smudger was hard to use and had to rub really hard at my eye lid for it to blend out. Yes they were easy to apply but all of the colours creased on my eyelid and looked oily by the end of the day. I am glad that i didn't pay full price for them. So after trying my best with the eyelid and being quite disappointed, i thought maybe i could try as a eyeliner in the waterline and this was probably the better way i get to use them , it doesn't last all day and isn't all that great but it's another way to use it up. I wont be repurchasing any more colours or buying them ever again, i liked the concept of it being easy to use but it just didn't work. I would not recommend to a friend.
When I first found this product I was pretty excited, the concept is good but the execution is bad, very bad.
So you have the pencil on one end and a sponge on the other. The pencil has the texture of a soft crayon, but only a little softer than a crayon. It drags a bit and I found myself having to apply a bit of pressure making it uncomfortable to apply. The sponge also tends to drag and only smudges a little.
The wear of it is average. it sort of stayed in place but maybe because it stained my skin a bit too.
Removing it wasn't fun either, It just spread everywhere rather then coming off.
At the end of it all the whole of the pencil fell out and now wont go back into place, so I probably wont even use it again.
Maybelline didn't get this one quite right. The Master Smokey Shadow Pencil where do I start?
I was so excited when this came out and I got nearly all of them, the black, the purple and the brown, all at the same time thinking it was going to make my life easy. Packaging was cool, nice chunky design with the "smudger" on the end, alot to read in the tiny fine print that was on it but that was okay, so at that point i had not been put off, got them home, sat at my table and pulled them all out of their packets like a kid on christmas and swatched them on my hand, played around with the "smudger" again. still thought okay these are not that bad..... then finally then to play with the black one of my eye. Thick, hideous product, kind of between a cream eyeshadow and a eyeliner, and I could not blend it well at all, I went to "Panda" really fast and it looked so bad, I tried again with the other colours I had and it was the same result. I was so gutted I thought I had found the holy grail to the smokey eye but instead found its worst nightmare. The colours though are highly pigmented but they do not do what they are supposed to, maybe others can work with them but I just could not get them working for me, I will not be ever buying again and i will not recommend to others.
Tips: If you insist on trying these, a little amount of product goes a massive way, and remember that the eye skin is alot different o a swatch on your hand.
I picked this up at a clearance sale. At the moment I'm obsessed with eye liners. I love collecting different colours. I'm on a search for a good eye liner that will last me all day long.
This eye liner is the chunkiest one in my collection. It's like a crayon on one side and a smudging tip on the opposite side. I got Black because I couldn't find any other colours. The consistency of this isn't patchy. The colour is pigmented. Maybe I got a good batch.
Looking at the tip I was nervous about how thick the line might turn out. First gave it a go, one line was bold . Normally I would need to go over my lines to define them but not with this pencil. I managed to get a good 7 hours wear time . On my top lash line there wasn't any fading. Bottom lash line fading began around 5 to 7 hours time.
There's no way I would spend twenty dollars on a eye pencil. It's over priced. I think ten dollars is more reasonable amount to pay. I was lucky to get mine for roughly $3 . I enjoyed this one and I would definately like to buy more colours.
