A great hair tonic

On special at the supermarket I couldn't resist trying this. I have colour treated, dry, fine hair, so the title and promises spoke to me! Oils are a bit hit and miss with my hair as they're often too heavy/oily for my hair type.

I usually use oils/serums on my hair so was surprised this was quite a milky/watery 'potion'....but applying it to my dry hair, just on the ends - I noticed my skin soaked it up and felt softer almost immediately.

With more use, on towel dried hair I noticed again that my hair was a little softer and shinier after styling, and unlike the oils I use, my hair wasn't oily or feeling weighed down.

Strength, I'm not sure my ends are breaking any less, but my ends certainly look less frizzy and frazzled.

I really like this product on my fine hair. It seems to smooth out the frizz and give it some long term nourishment. I love that it's a milky potion rather than oil - I feel like my hair really absorbs it rather than it sitting on the surface. It really works well for my coloured (lightened) fine hair! It's a keeper for me.

I’m really loving it ... I’m so used to oils so this is a bit different but it really does make a difference with the condition of my hair each day... I’ve gone on to buy the shampoo and conditioner as well and I’m really happy with the regim

Potion

Again, the packaging fits with the earthy botanical ideals and looks pretty. This has a dropper which is a good way to just start out with a small amount. The scent is the same lightly spiced refreshing smell. I wish it had the safflower scent as I would really like that to linger the way this does.

Of the range this was my favourite product. It's like a leave in conditioner and after some recent abuse my hair just felt really soft and manageable using this product. Starting with less is a good approach - I overdid it a bit and was left with a greasy spot on my head. It smooths well, but because it's not a heavy oil it doesn't drag your hair down. Will definitely be keeping this one up.

Little goes a long way

I used this stengthening potion as part of the whole L’Oréal Paris Botanicals Fresh Care with Coriander Regime - with the shampoo and the conditioner. Within a week my hair was a bit stronger - mostly through noticing a lot less hair loss in the shower (which means it wasn't breaking as much).

The strengthening potion comes in a large bottle, which means it should last quite a while. You only need a tiny amount. It is quite thin and watery so it is easy to pump more out then you need. The first time I used it I applied way too much and it made my hair a bit greasy. For my thin shoulder length hair, I only need about a 1/4 of the dropper. The thin consistency does make it easy to apply.

Like the other products has a very strong scent - very earthy, herby smelling - which I liked. Because it is left in your hair, you can smell it a lot more strongly than just using shampoo and conditioner and can smell it throughout the day.

Overall it left my hair feeling smooth and soft, not weighed down like some hair oils can do, and it makes my hair a bit stronger.

Tips: Apply to dry dried hair, and only use a small amount and only on the ends of you hair (avoid roots!)

Mediocre..

I purchased the shampoo, conditioner and strength potion in this range as was thrilled to find eco-conscious and recyclable packaging- and products that didn't contain parabens, silicones or colourants.

The shampoo and conditioner I loved, however the strength potion was watery, difficult to draw up enough with the dropper and didn't make a noticeable difference to my hair.

Loreal Paris Coriander Strength Potion

This strength potion is the final step in the 3 step process for this range, and definitely not one that you want to leave out.

I know a lot of people will buy the shampoo and conditioner, and there would be a few people ho decide to leave purchasing the add on of the potion, but trust me you need to grab this! It really does help with the finishing touches and complements the shampoo and conditioner nicely :)

Like the shampoo and conditioner in this range, it has the similar herby/spicy/clean natural scent to it and the same packaging as these products also which I love.

I love the potion bottle with the dispenser - so easy to dispense the potion out into controlled amounts i.e. 2-3 drops is enough for me!

I have tried applying it to both damp and then also blow dried hair and it works well - definitely not heavy or greasy, it made my hair feel lovely and soft with a little hint of shine, and it also controls some of my frizz (yippee). The serum is light-weight/watery in its consistency however is thick enough that it is easy to apply to the hair. Its milky in colour and feels very nourishing when applied to the hair.

I always love adding these products to my hair care regime as feel that they add the finishing touches to cleaned and conditioned hair :)

Strength Potion

At first glance, I thought that this was a hair oil; however, it is milkier than an oil and is suitably named a strength potion. In comparison to other hair oils/serums, this is one of the more affordable options.

It has has a dropper applicator and eco-friendly, recyclable packaging. The 'potion' is thick enough that it isn't messy, but is runny enough to be distributed evenly. It has the same herbal scent as the other products in the range. I don't love the scent and although it doesn't appear to linger, I am wary of applying a product directly to my hair when I don't like the scent.

After applying, my hair is shiny but not oily. It feels smooth and healthy. Only a very small amount of product is needed to achieve this. I feel that it is too early to comment on whether this has strengthened my hair, but it certainly does make it look and feel healthier.

Coriander Strength Potion

Like the shampoo and conditioner this product is the same price. The strength potion is a leave in treatment it says to use a few drops and comes with a hose attached to the end of the rubber top to suck up the serum and then push back into your hair. It smells just like the shampoo and conditioner. The product looks transparent and feels hydrating but it is not like a heavy oily greasy feeling. This has Candelilla wax in it which is from the plant and it it an effective emollient - softening or soothing effect. This wax forms a protective film and has a nice glossy look. So could help the hair look shiny too. The concentrated coriander will help this and the soy bean oil and coconut oil penetrate the hair well along with the other good things coriander does. The vitamin A in the coriander oil will benifit the scalp because for the skin vitamin A will encourage exfoliation of the dead skin cells on the top layers of the skin. Vitamin A is used to help with acne, wrinkles and psoriasis so this potion could help make a healthy scalp. Out of all the products this one or the shampoo I think is best value for money as you only need a little.

Tips: Although this does contain its own purfume for scent I would not recommend continually smelling this product as too much inhalation of coriander oil (and this one claims to be concentrated) can impact the mind and cause you to lose the ability to think clearly or make decisions.

Coriander Strength Potion is Magic

The third part of the team of products I trialled, and probably the one I was most excited to trial, was the L'Oreal Paris Botanicals Fresh Care with Coriander Strength Potion. For various reasons my hair is a zone that should be marked with danger zone tape at the moment. It's very dry, brittle, breaks easily and it seems to be falling out at the rate of knots - now there's an image! I have great faith in L'Oreal products but I wondered if even this could save the mop. The potion is not thick - it's quite a thin liquid which I really liked as my hair doesn't react well to thick treatments. This feels really lovely on your hair. The perfume is quite strong and I'm not too sure whether I like it yet or not but I'm prepared to persist because I really can see a difference to my hair already. I've noticed that it's far less dry and, whether it's a coincidence or not, I'm not losing as much. I'll take that any day! I'm really looking forward to seeing what happens over the next few weeks of using this product but I'd absolutely recommend it if you're like me and currently have danger tape circling your crowning glory.

Tips: If you've got long hair, put extra potion on and put your hair up to let it 'brew' for a while. It really makes a difference.

L'Oreal Paris Botanicals Strength Potion

I need serums/potions in my hair to help strengthen and control my frizz! This one isn't thick like a serum and instead comes out a little like watery milk. But if you put some through your hair (focusing away from the roots) it does magic!

Tips: A little goes a long way

L'Oreal Paris Strength Potion

This product comes in packaging similar to the rest of the range, but with an eye-dropper to dispense the product so you can quite easily control the amount you want. It's a very watery, white liquid which does not have an oily consitancy at all, which is the opposite of what I was expecting. I love that it's such a watery consistency as my hair is thin and this doesn't weigh it down at all, you really can't feel it in your hair. I put this in wet hair after I get out of the shower usually, but I have tried it on dry hair a couple of times and it's light enough to still work fine and actually tames fly-always and frizzy bits quite well. It has a herbal scent that isn't necessarily strong, but does stay in my hair for quite some time. I find my hair stays put for longer, and doesn't tangle as easily after using this, but I'm not sure how much it's really doing in terms of making my hair stronger. I'm not sure I would repurchase this after the bottle runs out, but who knows, it may do more for my hair after a longer period of time.
