You Put What Where?! Hot Shower Products You Need Now

You know how all good beauty skincare advice says to keep water lukewarm when you’re rinsing your face or washing your bod? Well, I throw half that advice out the window once winter comes. The fact is I like a steaming hot shower caressing my body when the temperature is in the little digits. Yep, I’m naughty and will stand under a shower for a good twenty minutes letting it warm every inch of my cold bod, but to counteract the bad beauty behaviour while I’m in there I get busy. You see a shower is no longer just a get in, wash bod, then wash and condition hair situation, it’s a whole excuse to pamper your body, and we’ve tracked down a few must-have products that make that experience extra fabulous.

There’s nothing like grabbing a pouf, squeezing on some shower gel and giving yourself a good cleanse as the aromas of the gel fill the shower cubicle, and I have to admit I’m that woman who opens gels in the supermarket aisle in order to get a good sniff in before buying. We’re spoilt for choice too, but a product I can’t go past is the Original Source Shower Gel range, especially the Mint & Tea Tree scent. But my shower-fav at the moment is the Only Body Wash range. Those blends are just beautiful, and they fill your nose with aromatic joy as you wash away the grime. I’m all about Awaken right now, but Clarity is next on the list.

If imagining thousands of dead skin cells just laying about over your body sends you into a shiver then the shower is a great place to scrub them off. It’s easy enough to make your own scrub with a bit of olive oil, sugar and a few drops of essential oil, but the world is filled with scrubs lovingly made by someone else, so really, it’s our duty to buy them (and that’s how I justify my rampant consumerism).  LUSH products even show you the names of the people who made their products, and their little faces beckon me to the likes of Rub Rub Rub Shower Scrub or The Rough With The Smooth bar. For a sweet treat for your skin there’s also products like Burt’s Bees Cranberry & Pomegranate Sugar Scrub or the Soda & Co range. See? Spoilt for choice! How are we not all walking around with skin as smooth as a baby’s bum?

So you’ve cleansed and de-celled, now it’s time to add the moisturise back in – especially if you’re being naughty like me and the temperature is set to scalding.

Before joining the BR Crew I bought a Beauty Review Beauty Box and in it was a product that took my moisturising routine from lackadaisical at best to just shy of obsessive. Yes, it’s fair to say the Nivea In Shower Body Conditioner turned me from scaly to silky. This product is (in my opinion) a stroke of genius for lazy lasses like myself. I mean, you can stand in the shower daydreaming, while swiping it on, then wait a bit and daydream some more, then wash it off while daydreaming further, and boom, just like that you’re moisturised and you didn’t even have to sit in a towel on your bed freezing your bum off while you did it. Love it!

Another moisturising option is an oil that can be used in the shower. One product that works as a cleanser and a moisturiser is the L’Occitane Almond Shower Oil, and who doesn’t love a product that can do double duty? If you’re looking for an oil that will also act as a body treatment, Clarins Huile ‘Anti-Eau’ could be a treat for your skin as it claims to help eliminate toxins to streamline skin and prevent sponginess, leaving skin soft, toned and satiny. The only downside? You have to turn the shower off, and then rinse it off with cool water…. Hmmm, potentially a summer shower product then…

So do tell, are you a fan of showering? Do you spend minutes upon minutes wiling the time away pampering your body? If so, which are your favourite shower products? Or are you more of a wham bam I’m out of here Ma’am shower personality? Have any products featured tempted you to change that shower strategy? Chat away!

Oooh the Loccitane oil sounds amazing... not sure I can get on board with a cool rinse off though... I like hot showers (naughty I know).

I have used 3 out of the four mentioned above ( I haven't tried the lush shower scrub yet ;) ) I absolutely adore the L'occitane shower oil, I received a small size in the advent Christmas calendar and i am saving my pennies to purchase the full size! I love long hot shower and pampering myself hehe

OMG I have been using Lush's Rub Rub Rub for the past week - it is great! Smells good, exfoliates, and feels great in the skin :)

i love showering! It's just so relaxing and soothing to me, after a long day.

I love Nivea In Shower Body Conditioner. It is great in winter as I use it in the shower where I am nice and warm. Also because you rinse after so I don't feel grease as happens with some body creams. My skin feels great after too. I haven't tried the other products, I will have a look at them next time I am out.

The shower is my place to deeply cleanse my face. So using my facial wash and my electric face brush every other day really gives me that smooth, purified feel. I've only heard great things about facial cleansing oils and oils in general for your face especially since purchasing products myself, so I am pleasantly surprised and very curious on how the L’Occitane Almond Shower Oil will work. I'm very eager to try, and hopefully it won't be too expensive for my budget because I'd love a cleanser and moisturiser for my entire body!!

Long hot showers are a must for me best way to warm up in winter

I like the sound of an in shower moisturizer. I am definitely a long hot shower person.

Okay during the winter I dread having to shower because the bathroom is cold. But at the same time I can't go to bed without one. As much as I love to take a bath. A shower is just more convenient. I try not to have the shower too hot but during winter that's a bit difficult. I love a good body wash just because I like using a shower net bubble thingy and it's just easier to use with that. I also really like a good scrub because that leaves me smooth, though I have to admit during winter when it's cold I just don't have the time to wait for my coffee scrub to dry on me because the bathroom's cold. And my favorite part is probably the body oils and butters that go on my skin afterwards and leave me silky smooth and soft. During winter I use body butter nightly especially the ones that are heavier and turn to oil when you apply them on your skin and then body oil is another must for me. I do like the lighter feeling body butters that sink in really quickly but if I have a heavier body butter which I can't resist because of the scent winter is the time to use it. I have two at moment like that are from a small nz company and are whipped from coconut oil and hand made. They are rather greasy but the black raspberry and vanilla scent as well as the floral scent of the other one just pulls me in.

Showering is my favorite part of my day, in the morning I use citrus and zesty scents and at night I like to use sweet smelling products in the shower, I love the only good shower gel range, I need to try the Awaken one, it sounds lovely. My favorite shower products are Only good balance shower gel and Tanna farms Coconut soap :D

I'm a huge shower fan, but I feel I'm really wasting an opportunity as I pretty much just stand there - literally sleeping standing up with water cascading over me. I need to get some pep in my step and start exfoliating and in shower moisturising. Thinking I need to try that Nivea stuff!

11th July, 2016

I love Only Good shower gel and aroma therapy -not so keen on oils in the shower as they can make the floor really slippery so prefer oils for a long soak in the bath

11th July, 2016

I have to agree with the assessment of a long hot shower: amazing. And a few of these products I love (Rub Rub Rub is waiting for me at home as we speak), but I wasn't so impressed when it came to the Nivea in-shower lotion. Yes, it felt absolutely amazing at the moment of using it, but an hour after getting out of the shower I felt my skin drying out again :(

11th July, 2016

I must be doing good things for my skin then, I hate super hot showers. I only ever have them luke warm or if it's super cold maybe slightly warmer! I like to cleanse and exfoliate my face in the shower too, it makes it easy to rinse too.

Ummm, what can I say.....I currently have 10 shower gels in my shower lol. A colleague recently confused me by saying she had run out of body wash. How does one run out of body wash?!? I like to switch mine up daily depending on what I feel like using, how awake I feel etc. Yeap, you guessed it, most of them are Lush. Occasionally I will buy a supermarket brand instead and instantly regret it as they are just not as good. As a lazy girl, I'm also a big fan of in shower body conditioners. Again I prefer Lush for these. I'm just not a fan of the generic Nivea smell.

10 shower gels?! Well you're definitely not short on options there. I only have one haha and that's only because I got it in the BBBE (I'm all about the soap). Dare I ask what is you're favourite?

Definitely Rose Jam! Luckily it lasts me a long time since I have so many others. Love it paired with Ro's Argan body conditioner.

I hate to think how many soaps I have squirrelled away as I only use them as hand soaps and they seem to last forever.

P.s. If you're into wonderful candy smells in your shower gel, Lush's Snow Fairy is a winner!!!

You do need the L'Occitane stuff! Ong has just done another order, you should ask her to give ya a tester size of it :)

Yum, they sounds gorgeous. Skinfood body butter is my favourite so far.

Oooh maybe I should try that one. I'm going through a body butter craze at the moment but to be fair it's winter and so they get used nightly or almost every night.
