Winter's Top Five Lip Colours!

Oh winter, how beautiful are you with your brilliant blue skies, your sparkling white frosts, your snuggle-up-in-your-pjs and listen to the rain on your roof days, and your nights where stars twinkle like diamonds upon a sheet of black velvet. Yes, winter does make me wax poetic. It's a season of luxury. Faux fur vests. Suede boots. Merino everything. Leather gloves. It's all a bit delicious. However one of my favourite aspects of winter is that you can swap out pink and sparkly glosses for rich deep lip colours. So what are the top five shades of winter we need in our handbags? Read on...

What is winter without a plum coloured lipstick to slip on your lips? It's sophisticated, mature and a touch mysterious. We love the shade 'So Merlot' from Australis - rich, glossy, and as delicious as the wintry wine it's named after.

While a pure red is sure to shine at any time of year, we can't help but lean towards a deep red during the darker months, and Pure Passion from Living Nature is sure to look perfect on any pout!

Are you brave enough to try black lipstick? Not one for the shy and retiring, it can make a real impact in the cooler months and look super edgy. Want to dip your toe into the land of black lippy? Check out Lipstick Queen's Black Lace Rabbit Lipstick. It's sheer enough that it can be layered over other colours to add a hint of smoke, and can also be built up the braver you become.

Of course, not all of us are comfortable rocking a darker hue, but you can still get that wintry vibe going while adding a splash of colour by putting a juicy berry colour on your lips, like Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Colour Moisturising Lipstick in Raspberry.

Last, but never least - nude lips never go out of style, but in winter we can't help but think it's good to go for a few shades darker than usual so you maintain that luxe winter look. Our pick for this winter's must-have nude? One of the latest shades from fab Kiwi company, Mellow Cosmetics. How beautiful is 'Auckland'?

There you have - five wonderful wintry lip looks that are sure to turn heads, and maybe even brighten up someone's day! So do tell... what's your winter lip look? What are your favourite shades? Any recommendations? Sharing is caring!

There are some beautiful shades mentioned above but not sure if I could pull most of them off. That mellow lip paint in shade Auckland is gorgeous.

I love the pure red, but I can't wear it myself unfortunately.

I love plum, berry and wine shades for winter!

I'm a real fan of nudes and wear them all year round.

The winter plum shade is gorgeous although I don't think it would look very nice on my chicken lips!

I love wearing bright shades of lipstick, so I don't often go for the nude lips. I stick with couple of different shades of deep reds. I love that raspberry shade, it's so beautiful! I don't think I can ever pull of the black lipstick though

I love wearing a red or bright purple lippie any time of year. I love that raspberry!

Helloooooo black lipstick! I'm yet to own a black lippy but I love the look of it. The closest I own is a dark purple and brown.

I often wear bright colours in winter to contrast with the dull weather. I also like a deep red or plum though.

I don't have winter shades personally I wear whatever shade I want regardless of the season. I do really like burgundy and berry shades. In my bag I have Lime Crime's Wicked, Jeffree Star Androgyny and Younique's Lip Stain in Sultry (the beauty of this one is that it has the consistency of water and but is uber pigmented and can be layered for a darker lip or just one swipe for a lighter shade plus it stays on all day, you have scrub it off), Jeffree Star's Hoe Hoe Hoe, Karen Murrell's Raspberry Rata and Scarlet Blaze and the three nude liquid lipsticks from Mellow Cosmetics.

I'm definitely going to be wearing plum colors this winter but maybe next year for black.

Oh, I think I need Auckland!

26th May, 2017

I just purchased Notion from ColourPop (as can be seen on the photowall!!) Very excited for that matte to be a go-to this winter, I've also got an ultra satin Prim which is a vampy dark/blackened red.

On that note, I think I'd be keen to try out the black but I don't know whether I'd have the confidence to wear it often! Though love the sound of being able to layer it onto other shades!

The plum does it for me -What a stunning colour.Black just doesn't do it for me however the red is also rather nice.

I love a plum, berry or wine shade for the winter. Also a pop of bright pink. That "Auckland" tho could convert me too.
