We Love Beautiful Buns!

Article by BR Amelia

This week we are going loopy for buns here at Beauty Review. We love how simple they can be, but our heart sings a little when we see a bun with a bit of razzle-dazzle going on.

So what if you want to add pizzazz to your look… where do you start?

Scrunchies might hold memories of the 90’s for some of us (and not always in a good way), but when thrown over a bun they can add a touch of instant fun or glamour, and can be as basic or embellished as you like.

Speaking of glam… spin pins can be as simple as Cameo’s bobby spinners, or they can be wonderfully elaborate, featuring pearls and jewels. And when spun into your hair they give a touch of sparkle. You can even DIY your own spin pins by gluing your favourite gems onto the ends.

Whatever bun style you’re rocking, whether it be high and held-in or low and loose, a headband or headscarf are simple ways to add a chic or carefree element to your look.

Bun jaws sound kind of scary, they even look a little scary, but once clamped around your bun they give an effortlessly tidy and put together style – perfect for a day at the office or school pickup.

Off to a ball, cocktail function or even a wedding? Add interest to a simple bun by slipping in a jeweled slide so it sits to the side or just above the side of your style.

Speaking of gussying yourself up for a special event, another way to get happening hair – even if yours is on the short side - is to invest in a hairpiece. You can get pieces that have already been styled in braids, curls or picture perfect buns, so you can simply clip it in and go.

There we have it, our top tips for taking your basic bun and making it beautiful. Do you like to keep your bun simple, or do you like to add a little sass? Have we inspired you to give any of these accessories a go? Or is there one we’ve missed that we need to know about? Chat away!

Still waiting for my hair to grow!

Oh I love buns, no hassles and can be extremely easy if you've been doing it for years. It's my favorite go too hair do ever. And yes you can glam them up alot more now.

Buns are so beautiful!! I have such a small amount of hair and what I used to do is use my hair extensions to give a full bun look, I would tie my hair in a high ponytail and clip my extensions around the ponytail before placing it around to resemble a bun, and sometimes I would wear a head scarf, now I dont have hair extensions so I dont even bother trying to do a glamourous bun unless its a mummy bun, just not much of it haha

I regularly use jaws or clamps to clamp up my braid into a bun for exercise. I do love the classy look of pearls in my dark hair, funny I don't own any hair accessories with pearls on them.

I have longish hair that sits on my shoulders, I have yet to master the secret of a classy bun.

Buns are my go-to choice on a daily basis! They're so super simple but can look so elegant :) I LOVE those cameo spinners with the pearls - gorgeous!

19th May, 2015

I don't think I could rock the hair piece but I'm fortunate in that I have long and pretty thick hair. I might give the bun a go, will look for some slides or whatever tomorrow. :)

I love the pretty bling accessories like the flowers in the lead photo and the jewelled slide - gorgeous!! I'd love to try the head band but I'd probably end looking like Hilda Ogden!!!

19th May, 2015

I need to get some of those cameo bobby spin things especially since I'm fast running out of bobby pins!

19th May, 2015

My hair is constantly in a messssssssssy bun... its too long to be down when I am doing treatments and I hate it down anyway so up she goes! I really don't know why I still have long hair.....

18th May, 2015

I need a bun maker. A super, strong one for my thick, long locks.

18th May, 2015

I made some jeweled pins a few years back but a different design to the spinners above... more like a spiral you would see on a koru. Seriously considering hair extensions right now lol.

Thought that said 'to add pizzas to your hair' haha. Shhhh! I add pizza to my hair everyday it's my secret to extra volume! But in all serious, jeweled hair pins are amazing for buns. I bought this pack of 12 from the two dollar shop and they sparkle like crazy under the light.

I normally have a messy bun on a daily. I would love to try a bun maker to get a more polished looking bun. Its cool to see everyone posting buns on the photo wall too. Oh and the real bread buns did make me giggle.

I think you could pull off a Gatsby styled hair band or fascinator headband for an evening look

Yeah, I wouldn't mind trying a fascinator..just need an occasion...you could do the 50s style hair piece look , it'd look great on you?
