The Shape of 2018 Nails

When a 'hot' nail trend emerged for 2018 I held my breath. I feared I would be faced with further fluffy things adorning the tips of our fingers. Or giant bubbles filled with water and little things bobbing up and down within the bubble. Or, I don't know, dirt and tiny pebbles glued to the nails and called fashionable. Have we seen that yet? I feel like we should have.

Oh sweet relief... what I saw was something we've seen in the past, and it's just as fabulous as ever. Turns out in 2018 we're getting in shape... with geometric nails!

What we love about this look? It's doable. It's not something that involves one billion and one steps, with each step holding the potential for disaster. Because, let's be honest, who needs that kind of stress in our lives?

Also. It can be super elegant. Like this:

How show-stoppingly beautiful is this? The clean white with black geometric design? These are nails that could be taken from work to the bar with ease.

Of course, sometimes you want to have a little fun with your nails and geometric design allows for this too. Check this look out:

Think it's hard to achieve geometric nails? Sure, if you're working with multiple colours and designs it can be a tad tricky, but if you get hold of some coloured striping tape it's as simple as popping some colour on your nails and then using the striping tape to create the geometric pattern. Or you can go one step further and use plain striping tape to design the pattern, then colour in the lines with another polish before peeling off the tape for a fabulous two-toned look. (Wondering where you can get nail tape? Check this NZ supplier out.)

So... are you excited for geometric nails to be back on our radar? Is this the shape of years to come? Or are you here for my fabulous dirty and tiny stones trend idea? (!!!) Chat away!

I love the black on white! I don't often jump on the nail trends but this is one I can get behind!!

2nd February, 2018

I do like the black and white but not on me.

2nd February, 2018

These look fun and the black and white is STUNNING!

2nd February, 2018

Oooh I love the geo look!!! I I’ve a stash of geo Jamberry wraps so I’ll definitely be busting those out

2nd February, 2018

It can be nice. It's not my fave but it's nicer than some other designs we've had in the past.

2nd February, 2018

Love the look, more as a feature nail or nails. I have a few wraps with the geo design im getting ready to play with

I love geometric, especially if like me, your nails are not perfect as they distract from any less than even lengths. I wish I could make them pretty more often but working in the food industry means it’s a big no-no!

1st February, 2018

I get my nails done every 3 weeks I have recently gone from 6 years of acrylics to gels which I love! I love all sorts of designs but love plain colours with glitter at the minute!

1st February, 2018

I love nail art, I really need to get the liquid cuticle cover stuff, and the thin tape, I prefer the geometric trends, simple, but very effective, and I am bored of doing dots with the bobby pins, the daughter loves it when I do her nails though!

"Geo know it is" LOL I love these! Must get me some striping tape to use with my gel kit! Lately I've opted for plain solid colours, no accents and love a good nude nail but usually I love a good pattern and glitter accent nail.

31st January, 2018

Those are pretty cool, but I don't think I have the time to do that on myself.

31st January, 2018

I am sure this trend has already been ! But I like it

31st January, 2018

It's ok, but would terrible on short nails.

31st January, 2018

The first and second ones are nice because they are slightly more subtle and classy. I'm not brave enough to rock busy patterns on all fingers!

If you're like me and struggle with drawing patterns with nail polish, you could try the Jamboree stick-on nails?

31st January, 2018

Ooh I like the look of the first 2! Super dainty and elegant

Urm I meant it would LOOK terrible on short nails!
