Last week we were overcome with Ombre, and we spoke of how the trend for graduated two tone hair had exploded last year and showed no signs of slowing down this year.  Well we've just discovered the ombre trend is spreading.  To our eyelashes.

Ahead of festival season in the UK, salons are seeing an increase in the demand for bright, bold and statement lashes - in the two tone hair style rocked by many a celebrity.  But before you have nightmares about bleaching your eyelashes, you can sleep easy - these are eyelash extensions.

Eyelash extensions have become a staple salon treatment, with people paying around $250 for silk fibre extensions. Eyelash extensions add depth, volume and length to the upper lashline and are great for people with fine, short or few lashes.  They are made from silk fibres and are lightweight and incredibly natural looking, lasting as long as your natural lash takes to grow out (between 6 weeks and 3 months).  You can choose to have eyelash extensions as a one off for a special event or have regular infills.

To create the ombre look, each fibre is dip dyed to create a striking tip against the classic black fibre. Popular colours include purple, green and blue, which each work best with certain eye colours to bring the glitz and drama.  Some salons will even custom dye them for you, with clients opting for clashing colour combinations such as lime green and orange.

And you thought coloured mascara was daring!

So what do you think?  Will you be batting two-tone colourful eyelashes, or is this one best saved for artistic purposes?

It would be a cool idea if your going out to a party or concert. I do like false eye lashes but have never tried them

Wow that sounds awesome! I tried blue mascara once but thought that was too crazy so I got rid of it before leaving. Ombre purple would probably look much nicer though.

This is easily done at home. All you need is a few colours of loose dust/pigment and liquid set. After applying mascara, Pop a drop of liquid set on the back of your hand and with an eyeliner brush or angle brush mix in a small amount of dust/pigment until it becomes a similar texture to liquid eyeliner. Wipe excess colour back onto your hand, and apply to your lashes. Work from the outer edge to inner without topping up your brush so you slowly blend it back to black creating the ombre look. Voila Xx

While I'm not a fan of fake/ extended lashes (except for special occasions) I am loving using black mascra with blue mascra on the tip :) xx

I'd give this a try if I was going out or to a party. Probably wouldn't go for a bright colour like orange, but I would try blue or purple or a glitter

Love the purple! Sassy! I used to wear coloured mascara all the time and nine times out of ten someone would compliment my eyelashes so totally down with this look :)

I think this look is beautiful! especially when it matches with your eyes - think blue lashes, blue eyes. Especially when its just ombre, its not as intense as full blown colour, so will look more smart as opposed to wild and out there! I have red glasses and red hair so maybe red ombre lashes!? I think so!!

They look so cool, not sure I would go for the coloured ones though, but I might give brown/black a whirl for a special occasion.

19th June, 2014

Would sooooooo love to do this!

Love the look but $250 could be spent on better things.
