The latest hair trend? Get pixelated!

Finally we can say "move over Ombre, there's a new colouring trend in town".  Although we're not sure it's here to stay...

Pixelating your hair is the latest colouring trend, drawing inspiration from the techno world around us, notably games such as Minecraft.

Spanish company Xpresion created the look by accident when styling 4500 models for a show.  And they decided the look mistakenly created had something rather rad about it, and develop the technique from there.

The look is created by applying contrasting colours in staggered blocks, giving the overall impression of pixelation.  And the trend really is catching on, with Xpresion training stylists in many a salon the globe over.  Revlon Professional have even taken inspiration in our header image - one from their latest campaign.

For more inspiration have a search on Instagram for #xpresionpixel.  The combinations seem are infinite and contrary to the images we've chosen, there is such a thing as a subtle pixelation!

So what do you think of the pixelation trend?  Is it cutting edge or should the trend go back to whence it came?  Do you like the look of your head being censored?

Pixelated hair - rad or bad?

I could see this being ultra cool on some people - not me with my white hair though :)

For an occasion it would be the most amazing finish to an outfit but it's not for me

I not sure for everyday use, but would look great on the catwalk.

This is a really cool look and I like it but I don't think it would suit someone like me lol ohhh the mere life of the commoner

Cool for a night out or a trend , personally not on me.

It's interesting and eye catching. It's always fun to see the latest things designers come up with for clothing and hair/beauty on the runway. I'd never go to the effort of pixelating my hair however as I prefer to have a natural look.

22nd February, 2015

Lets just say I personally will not be following this trends.

Gosh if I saw someone with this hair colour, then I'd certainly do a double take. Quite amazing, but just couldn't see myself or anyone in my family with pixelated hair. Now this would be great to see in the WOW show on some of the models.

Well it's different, that's for sure. I bet it would be hard and time consuming for the hairdresser and probably cost a fair bit more. I'm no that adventurous (or that rich) lol :)

A runway look definitely. A real person look, not so much.

I dont think the trend will hang around long, but its an interesting idea - id give it a go if I could find someone who knew how to do it! lol

17th February, 2015

This is so cool but I think it would only look good on smooth, silky hair, not fuzzy hair like mine :/

17th February, 2015

This would have been amazing in 1982 ... ;)

i think this fully depends on what colours are used, and the design. ive seen some horrid looking ones, and them some great ones. not something i would have in my hair, but some look pretty cool
