Why Blurred Lips Should be the Next Look you Try!

The best part of the beauty world? It's a world where anything goes. For every bold lipstick there's a nude. For highlight that can be seen from space there's a soft diffused sheen. Neon eyeshadows stand alongside natural tones. And even the way we apply our lipstick has its hand-holding opposite. Move over crisp lines and filled in lips, make way for your blurry bestie!

Blurred lips have been circling for a while now. They've graced magazine covers and runways, but now more than ever they're having a moment - and no wonder. They're sweet, chilled out - and yet there's a cool edge to them that has us all a-swoony.

So how do we get the look? Read on...

1. First things first... as always, prime your canvas. In this case exfoliate your lips, then apply a moisturising lip balm and let it sink in.

2. Choose your colour. What we love about this look is that any colour is fair game. You can go nude, pretty it up with a pink, reach for a red, play with a purple.

3. Work from the inside out. So take your lipstick, apply colour to the middle of your lips then get a cotton tip or a lip brush and blend it outwards.

4. Play. This is the bit where you get to do you. You can blend it out so that it finishes at your lip line, before your lip line, or so that it's feathering around your lip line. You can then add gloss or a lip topper to the centre of your lips to create depth and/or sparkly. It's up to you!

Word of warning... As much as the term 'more is more' is echoed through Beauty Review's hallowed halls, we do feel this is one trend though where restraint is key. More is more will only end up making you look like you've been sucking on a heavily food-coloured popsicle with wild abandon. Cute on a five year old... not so cute on us grown up types.

So there you have it - simple tips to get a blurred lip! So will you be rocking a blurred lip? Or is this one trend that needs to be poked away with the sharp end of a stick?

I love the blurred lips look, but I think the over exaggerated cat eye clashes with it, it’s too bold for the softer lip style. I’m looking forward to trying this!

I have blurred lips plenty, when I’ve rushed to lippy on the way out the door or when using a bad lippy that comes of on a straw hehehehe who knew I was trend setting

I love this look! I'm into stained lips at the moment but it's hard for me to master a wash of colour vs. "I just had a raspberry drink" or "my lippy is fading" look.

Not something I would personally try as it wouldn't look good on my dry lined filled yip. Looks good on the models above though.

Great for me as I had small lips and I'm always lip lining to try and make them look a bit bigger haha

16th April, 2018

Looks pretty on these photos, but IRL might be a bit odd! I'm afraid I'm always too scared to try fancy new looks haha

15th April, 2018

I could give it a try . Dunno if it will work though.

It actually looks like they have gone outside their lip line in a pale colour. Not too keen on this look for me but it may be fun for the younger gals.

If only I had fuller lips like those models, I might give it a try. Sadly, all it would do for me is make me look tight-lipped and mean, and who wants that? :)

13th April, 2018

I'll give it a try. Personally I will always prefer the crisp sharp line, it just looks more polished and pulled together. When I first saw this trend, popular in Asia I thought it looked like someone was too rushed to finish apply their lipstick or had sucked a popsicle. If the areas of your lips with no color are as pale as your skin it can look like you have very thin lips.

This is what I look like when my lipstick bleeds and I've only got a tissue to clean up...... blurred edges lol

12th April, 2018

I don't know... I don't think I can pull it off, but I'll give it a try just out of curiosity.

12th April, 2018

This is me after a few hours anyway.

12th April, 2018

Think it's nice for a more casual look - might try it!

12th April, 2018

I quite like the look, but don't think I'd have the talent to make it look right ...I'd be more likely to create a look that resembled the makeup carnage you get in the morning after a big night out!
