The Beauty Crew Tries: Feather Eyebrows

Natalie, the First Lady of Beauty Review is no stranger to giving things a go in the name of beauty. Nat has cut her own hair, coloured her own hair numerous times, even given a sculpted undercut a go. In recent times she's suggested it's my turn to give things a go... her idea was nose waxing. I put my pixie foot down very quickly on that one. I quite like my nostril hair. And I can't help but think about how uncomfortable nostril hair growing back in would be, and I wouldn't want to walk around with my finger up my nose giving it a good itch while it grew back. So yeah, nah. However, recently the concept of 'feather brows' became a bit of a trend, and giving that a go was something I could get on board with.

Feather brows was the creation of makeup artist Stella Sironen. Fun fact about this look - it was meant to be a joke, but apparently people didn't get that and now it has its own Instagram hashtag #featherbrows and everything. I can see why people like it though, it has this feral but delicate beauty, and I figured with my beetle brows I could pull it off.

So, here's a close up of what Stella achieved:

Now, it's probably good to note that you're meant to use glue on your eyebrows to achieve this look. I don't have glue and if I did I wouldn't be all that fond of putting glue on them in case I ripped out half my brows by accident. What I did have though was a clear brow gel that fixes those suckers in place, and a hair mascara which felt glue-esque. The plan? Make pink glitter feather brows!

So I sat in front of my mirror and I fussed and feathered and farted around. The bottom half would feather out, then when I went on the upsweep the bottom would attempt to go that way as well. I used so much hair mascara that half my forehead was covered in it. I went about doing one brow for a good fifteen minutes. It was a mammoth task! The result?

A total feather fail. If anything I look like I've dragged my eyebrow backwards through a bush half a dozen times. Perhaps using glue would've produced a better result, but I doubt it. I think I'd need some severly thick brows to rock this one. So while I appreciate the artistry that goes into the feather brow, I won't be attempting it again. In fact waxing my nostril holds a little more interest, at least it would be fast and I'd see an actual result.

Pixie's overall thoughts on this one?

Too hard basket. Although if you're game for gluing your eyebrows together to create feather brows we'd love to see the results! Post 'em to the photowall and you may find some points sprinkled into your account.

Hmm not for me lol

30th April, 2017

liked the eyes but not the brows for every day

26th April, 2017

Yeah this is definitely a fashion trend I am happy to sit out. I see it as more of a makeup statement suited to photo shoots and car walks

This article had me going for a double take. Surely someone was pulling my leg but nope it was a 'trend'. I don't think its a trend worth spreading cause eeww is all I have to say. It's not only silly looking but I don't find it adds anything to the look. Big fat single digit to that one sorry.

mmm nope! even if I liked how it looks (which nah not a fan) I wouldn't have nearly enough brow to do anything like that with them... will leave this to others and hey if it's your thing and it works then well done :)

I'm so keen to try this, just for the fun of it ... but I groomed and trimmed my eyebrows two days before this article came out. I'm going to have to wait a few weeks for my brow hairs to grow out before I attempt this look.

Hahaha I'm putting this in the too hard basket but also because I think it's weird

20th April, 2017

Really should have tried this during the day kinda hard to tell in the photo rather than when you need an excuse for a break in the major clean out your having

20th April, 2017

Might as well just glue some feathers over the top! Seems a lot of faffing around; and I'd not be keen to stick anything on what's left of my brows, haha

20th April, 2017

AHAHA this has got to be a joke! You'd have extremely long eyebrow hairs and a boatload of patience to pull this off. I've seen a few of these posts online but they all look so outrageous and 'unwearable'.

19th April, 2017

I think I might agree about this one being in the too hard basket.

19th April, 2017

I don't think it's a trend for me. But if you like it why not?

19th April, 2017

I love seeing crew members try these out. Oh your a good sport . Its pretty.

19th April, 2017

Great write up Kellie! I think that this trend would be perfect if someone was doing photo that was perhaps had a bohemian theme to it. That would be super cool. Ive given this a try this arvo, since reading this and I have posted my quick attempt on the photo wall :)

Good on you for giving it ago! It looks cool but such an odd thing to do haha. If I had glue I'd give it ago
