As the sun begins to say hello a little longer every day, over in the Northern Hemisphere it’s starting to shy away from the day, bringing with it the romance of Autumn, or Fall as it’s called up that way, fall, and stylish lads and lasses are dying their hair sensational shades of orange, while sipping on their pumpkin spiced lattes.
The envy is real.
BUT, there’s no reason we can’t embrace the colour here. We’re heading into summer! Let’s fuel the fire with orange hair! Let’s bring the heat!
Of course, going orange isn’t for the faint of heart. It’s bold, bright, and screams look at me. So should you do it? Or should you not? We checked out some pros and cons.
Pro: No one will ever lose you in a crowd again. You’ll stand out like a tall person at a Short People Rock convention.
Con: The upkeep! Seriously. I barely have time to chop my toenails, let alone hit up the hairdresser every five minutes to keep my roots looking super sharp.
Pro: You don’t have to just be one shade, or tiny variations of one shade. You can play it up and go crazy, like with a super cool (or should that be super sizzling hot?) ombre look.
Con. Again with the upkeep.
Pro: Boys can do it to. Well, boys can do anything, just like girls can. But how hot is the orange lumberjack beard?
Con: Ok, one of the girls just informed me it’s not that hot. I still beg to differ.
Biggest Pro Ever: If summer’s a fizzer, because let’s be honest, sometimes New Zealand summers can go a bit skewwhiff, well, at least wherever you’re going you’ll be bringing your own sunshine.
Biggest Con Ever: If it is a bum of a summer, people might gravitate towards you thinking you are the sun, and if you’re not fond of being clung to for heat, this could well be a bad thing.
So, what say you my beauties!! Would you rock bright orange hair or a variant during the hotter months? During the cooler months? All year round? Or is this colour one you’d shy away from? Hot or not? Hit or miss? Get chatting!
I tried this a few years back. Loved it but my hair does not hold color very well and the upkeep was such a pain.
