Orange Hair – Hot or Not?

As the sun begins to say hello a little longer every day, over in the Northern Hemisphere it’s starting to shy away from the day, bringing with it the romance of Autumn, or Fall as it’s called up that way, fall, and stylish lads and lasses are dying their hair sensational shades of orange, while sipping on their pumpkin spiced lattes.

The envy is real.

BUT, there’s no reason we can’t embrace the colour here. We’re heading into summer! Let’s fuel the fire with orange hair! Let’s bring the heat!

Of course, going orange isn’t for the faint of heart. It’s bold, bright, and screams look at me. So should you do it? Or should you not? We checked out some pros and cons.

Pro:  No one will ever lose you in a crowd again. You’ll stand out like a tall person at a Short People Rock convention.

Con:  The upkeep! Seriously. I barely have time to chop my toenails, let alone hit up the hairdresser every five minutes to keep my roots looking super sharp.

Pro: You don’t have to just be one shade, or tiny variations of one shade. You can play it up and go crazy, like with a super cool (or should that be super sizzling hot?) ombre look.

Con. Again with the upkeep.

Pro: Boys can do it to. Well, boys can do anything, just like girls can. But how hot is the orange lumberjack beard?

Con: Ok, one of the girls just informed me it’s not that hot. I still beg to differ.

Biggest Pro Ever:  If summer’s a fizzer, because let’s be honest, sometimes New Zealand summers can go a bit skewwhiff, well, at least wherever you’re going you’ll be bringing your own sunshine.

Biggest Con Ever:  If it is a bum of a summer, people might gravitate towards you thinking you are the sun, and if you’re not fond of being clung to for heat, this could well be a bad thing.

So, what say you my beauties!! Would you rock bright orange hair or a variant during the hotter months? During the cooler months? All year round? Or is this colour one you’d shy away from? Hot or not? Hit or miss? Get chatting!

I tried this a few years back. Loved it but my hair does not hold color very well and the upkeep was such a pain.

The colour is too bright for me! But it's absolutely stunning in the above photos :)

It's beautiful!! I wouldn't rock it now at my age but love it :)

YES YOU SHOULD DO IT!!! Im having serious orange hair envy, the ombre in the second pic is incredible!

Not for me but Hot for the young - I think if the hair is styled right this is a hot new look and I love it

I'm not pale enough for this!

I love that second pic - I reckon that's something I could pull off. My skin tone doesn't take well to orange, which is a shame as these pictures are very inspirational!

I did the orange thing when I was a younger lass, loved it! Now I am a wee bit older I have gone for a warm chocolate brown, which I love just as much.

Mine is currently a orangey colour! I have been this way for a while it is not bright orange like in the pictures I think I like it as it is different and in the pictures above the eyes look so bright and pretty. I did hate brassyness in blonde hair but a natural blonde is more flattering I would say my hair is a shade or orangey red brown or copper. It was similar to a shade emma stone had. I have lightened it a little since with a blonde dye and then put more red in and prefer it. Not too light and not too dark I try not to go to dark because it tends to stay dark once you have gone that way. I think those who rock this colour are unique and attractive it also takes confidence because like blondes red heads can and used to get alot of teasing

I have had purple and orange hair at the same time but that was only an orange highlight and its a big ol NOPE from me to do it again... I'll stick to my cooler tones... I like my blue and purple :D In saying that it really does suit some women... just not for me

I think orange hair can look gorgeous (just as you've shown in these photos). However, I've had a friend who tried and it went badly - just couldn't get the right orange. I think maybe if you want to go for something this bright an obvious it is a better idea to go to a professional so that it looks on point.

I love it- especially the ombré. Not something I could wear but I'm envious of those that can rock it

16th October, 2016

No orange hair for me! Not a fan as I prefer dark shades. But go the gingers! :-)

16th October, 2016

Orange isn't a colour I would go for. As an ombré colour looks beautiful.

Ive had orange hair! Loved it
