The Incredible Instagram Trend Anyone Can Do!

It's not the newest trend in the world. It's not the oldest trend in the word. But you know, it might be one of the prettiest, most interesting, and most doable trends around at the moment. The Halo eyeshadow technique has been slowly but surely infiltrating our beauty spaces. Instagram is awash with it. YouTube beauty gurus are abandoning their usual go-to styles of application for it, and now? Well now I can no longer resist it.

Not that I ever hated the halo look mind you, but after years of adding a matte colour to my crease, followed by a medium colour over my lid, a dark shade on the outer eye and a light shimmer shade on my inner eye the idea of putting a dark colour on the INNER and outer part of my eye... well... it made me more nervous than a long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs. Which is daft, because check out these beautiful halo eye looks.

What has to be appreciated about this look is its versatility. You can create a smokey halo. A halo inspired by the colours of a sunset. A blue halo. A green halo. A red halo. Basically you can throw any on the inner and outer thirds of your eyes, dab light shimmer in the center and you're good to go. I mean, look, just LOOK at this colourific halo...

Also, how have I only just discovered Tyler Thomas? His artistry is superb and the creativity he puts into his looks? Wow.

Even the centre piece can be played with using glitters, or even crystals, instead of shimmers. You've got to love a trend that lets you release your inner creative.

Of course, we don't all want to be unicorns rocking colours and crystals and all things bold, bright and blingy. Some of us want to keep it natural, but still have room to play, and the halo trend allows us to do this too.

Soft and sweet, bold and bright, smokey and sexy, whatever look you love you can achieve it with a halo eye. And getting the look really isn't difficult. It can be as simple as putting a matte shadow in your crease and blending it out. Adding a darker shade on either side of your eye and blending. Putting down a light matte base in the centre of your eye, then adding your shimmer on the centre, blending that darker lightly around the top of the shimmer to create the halo. And then recreating the look along your lower lash line.

Not hard at all, especially when you see how easy YouTube Beauty Vlogger Alissa Ashely makes it.

I definitely like the halo look - something I've slowly started doing over the past month actually! Must've been seeing it somewhere. Also I've been playing with my gold CoverGirl shimmer shadows from the BR Vault so it's just been happening!
