Nail Polish - It's Not Just For Nails!

I don't really consider myself nail polish obsessed. Sure I enjoy coating my nails on occasion (more since I've discovered Sally Hansen's Color Therapy range as it's the first nail polish that doesn't chip within 24 hours on my nails), but you'd never know I wasn't huge on the process by the collection of polishes I own. I feel the need for a visual...

Sure it's not the most in the world, it's certainly not enough to sink a ship, but for someone that would wear nail poish a grand total of four times a year, if that, well, it's a lot. And it's just sitting there doing nothing. So in the interest of not wasting products I couldn't help but wonder... what other uses are there for nail polish? Well, turns out there's quite a few. Check out these colourful nail polish hacks...

Are the tops of your shoelaces looking a bit frayed? Find a nail polish that matches (or go crazy and mix it up), coat the frayed area in a goodly amount and then pinch it together (maybe wear gloves if you don't want nail polish on your fingers) as it dries. The result? Your shoelaces will be good as new!

Another use for nail polish in the realm of footwear is to use it to cover up any areas where the colour has rubbed away. All you need is a matching shade of polish, or you could get all arty and create a whole new design to hide the blemishes.

If you're anything like me you can't tell one key from the other and spend a good few minutes farting around trying out different keys in doors until you get the right one. Fart around no more! Instead paint each key a different colour so you know which key goes where - to make it even easier on yourself you can dot the door/padlock etc with the matching colour so you don't even have to make a point of remembering which colour coded key goes where!

Hate running your tongue over envelopes because of the taste, or, if like me you fear a paper cut on your tongue? Grab a polish and use it to seal the envelope. Job done. No paper cuts here, baby!

Loving the idea of being artistic with your nail polish? Then why not freshen up your hair clips with a coat of colour? Or grab some old jewellery you never wear and give it a new lease of life!

Speaking of being artistic... if you've kids or look after kids, then why not let them paint pictures with any polish you don't see yourself using? Just be sure to put down some protective sheets before you let them go crazy with the brushes.

So there you have it... some tips and tricks to get the most use out of your nail polish. Will you be giving any a go? Do you have some more nail polish hacks we need to know about? Get chatting!

Do you mean the top of your shoe laces looking a bit frayed? Was a bit confused by that tip! Clear nail polish is great for when you want to waterproof something really quickly. Like a label on a drink bottle or something like that.
