Meet The Multi-tasking Makeup Brush Cleaning Pad!

Every now and then a beauty hack comes along that just tickles my fancy, like using a bobby pin to stamp eyeliner on before filling it in. That one really made me smile, especially when it worked. The latest came from Redditor happyidiot3791 and I think it's the bees knees!

Ever wanted to clean your makeup brushes really well but not wanted to fork out for a fancy brush cleaning pad? Well happyidiot3791 recommends people use... wait for it... a lego pad. You know the ones I mean, right? The base that you can build houses or animals or whatever you like on? Check out happyidiot's photo so you can see what I mean...

You can see how it would work, with all the bumps and grooves, along with your preferred brush cleanser would definitely help wash the gunk out of your brushes. Best of all, it's something I imagine a fair few of us might have hanging around the house - especially if you've Lego-loving kiddliwinks!

What followed this thread further made me smile as people shared their brush cleaning pad hacks. Silicone pot holders that have bumpy bits were offered up as an option, as was a plastic basket that has holes in it. Basically anything with bumps and lumps may well do the trick... I'm so inspired I may well have to build a pad using my daughter's big Lego blocks to see if that will cut the mustard... or the ancient makeup filth.

So, is this one hack you'll be keen to try? Are there other at-home options you can think of? Saving a dollar here means spending a dollar on something more fun, so hit us up with your ideas!

This is a great hack - good way to use up lego when kids grow up!

Ha ha - fantastic, better than standing in the blooming stuff!! I have just spent a lot of money on new Techniques brushes, I didn't want to spend more on cleaners and mats like the sales assistant wanted, this might just have saved me some money and keep my brushes nice!

I have a paddle style spoon from an old rice cooker that has ripples and bumps on it the is the perfect kitchen utensil to clean makeup brushes with.

I'm going to try this

The things people come up with! Who would have thought? Now it is up to us to convince our kids to give up some Lego for a great cause.

Lego what a brilliant idea damn why didn't I think of that! I use my formerly known as Bossy cleaning pad and shampoo, but I do find it a tad flimsy it would be nice to have something a tad more solid like this.

That's brilliant! I've already got a brush cleansing pad, so I'll stick to it in the meantime

This sounds interesting - but I'm sure it would work! I actually made my own brush cleaning pad a while ago from an old plastic plate and hot glue swirled and dotted all over. But at Kmart I found a brush cleaning egg for $5 and just had to pick it up - it works wonders!
