Is This The Ultimate No Wrinkle Beauty Must Have?

Bless me beauty babes for I have sinned. On the regular. Like, all the time. For as long as I can remember. You see yours truly sleeps with her faced smooshed into a pillow. Actually, full disclosure, I sleep with my face sandwiched between two pillows. One on top. One underneath. What can I say? I hate noise. I hate light. And if a little of either of those get in my sleep is disturbed - and we all know how important one's beauty sleep is... even if it means premature wrinkles.

Anyway, recently BR Nat sent me a link to a pillow, called the YourFacePillow, that apparently people are going bananas for because it forces you to sleep on your back, with the spin-off benefit being you get less wrinkles. Nat knows how I feel about the wrinkles. I'm okay with them, but also believe in delaying the march of time and ageing as gracefully and slowly as humanly possible.

I like the idea of this pillow. A lot. But I'm not convinced it's for everyone. Especially me... because I have issues. So in the spirit of working stuff out I've come up with a YourFacePillow pro and con list.

Pro - Because it's developed to help you lie on your back and its patented design means less pressure on your face if you do side sleep on it apparently you get less wrinkles. Excellent!

Con - It doesn't stop the noise getting in - which isn't a bother for some people. But for those of us who need dead quiet it's an issue - and no, earplugs for me are not an option because the sound of my heartbeat keeps me awake. (Aren't I just the original princess who could feel a pea under twenty mattresses?) So if you're waking every five minutes to the creak of your house or a car driving by you're going to look more haggard in no time.

Pro - Apparently it also somehow fights against acne because it's design means less pressure on your skin, which according to the Amazon listing says it will cause less of the dreaded zits. Okay then...

Con - Less breakouts are brilliant, BUT sleeping on your back would mean the light would seep through your eyelids. The light! It burns! Yes, there are sleepmasks but they can dig in and it's so uncomfortable compared to the curving softness of a feather pillow draped over your eye area as you soundly side sleep.

Pro - You can side sleep using it and eventually over time you can train yourself to stay on your back. (I do like the way they acknowledge how hard it is to make yourself back sleep when you're a side sleeper. I appreciate the empathy.)

Con - Um, don't give the people an option! If you're a side sleeper and there's a chance at side sleeping you're going to take it. Clamp us in! Force us to back sleep! Some of us are stubborn and will never do what you want!

Pro - It's made from CertiPUR Certified Foam, which means it's free from mercury, lead, formaldehyde - stuff you probably don't want to be sleeping on for around eight hours a day. I did some random checking to see if foam pillows were all free of the greebies - but oddly enough, no one mentions anything, which makes my suspicious side go 'hmmmmm'. Definite bonus points there.

Con - Sure, it's got all fancy stuff going on - but some fancy foam pillows are still darn uncomfortable to sleep on and don't suit a person's neck or height or just body in general. And at $60 (which I'm not sure if that's NZD or USD) PLUS postage, well that's a lot of money to spend to only find out you hate something.

Yeah, nah. Yeah. Hmmmm... I don't know. I love that BR Nat was looking out for me and my skin. I love that people have created an innovative design that could well work for a lot of people. But this Pixie says.... nah. I'll stick to smooshing my face between pillowcases. At least then I know I'll be getting my beauty sleep.

So do tell... is this a product you'd be into? Have you tried it? Have you tried something like it? Do you think back sleeping stops you breaking out? Do you think using silk pillowcases and side sleeping could be the way to go if you can't back sleep on a fancy foam pillow? Chat away!!

I kind of want to give this a try!

Haha - I don't sleep on my face that often and that's not to stop wrinkles (inevitable really), BUT I do notice if I wake up on my face I have lines on the side I slept on haha

Kellie you're not alone - I smoosh my face between 2 pillows as well :-)

I don't need a $60 pillow to help me sleep on my back. I can do it quite easily throughout the night however growing up I've been scolded an endless number of times to sleep on my side (and not for beauty reasons).

31st July, 2017

when I have a cold I snore when I'm on my back - not too much of a problem for me, but I get the cuddle nudge from the other half - lol.

I don't know if it is just me, but I side sleep not only because of blocking out the noise, but my body is just more comfortable that way. When I try on my back I can't get to sleep in the first place. So not for me unfortunately. In terms of silk pillowcases I am also a no (nay-sayer over here, people!) I find that silk gets static and also doesn't breathe very well, leading to more oily skin....am I wrong?

I need a good pillow for a previous neck injury that plays up but I don't like the idea of being confined so this is probably not a pillow for me.

I toss and turn a lot in my sleep, I wonder if this will help with that too. I often wake up with an aching body

30th July, 2017

I just hate the idea of not being able to switch from sad to side then on my back - the trick to me getting a good night sleep is being able to move around!

30th July, 2017

It would annoy me. I like to toss and turn so this would make me feel claustrophobic haha im odd.

I once spent big money on some oddly shaped pillows of the TV channel and really regretted it. I have been sleeping on a latex pillow for years and it's my personal fave. I've had to sleep on my back since I have hayfever and if I sleep on my side one nostril will get all blocked I honestly miss sleeping on my side since it's my fave position. I was sleeping on fake silk pillowcase till it pilled and then splurged on a real silk one. I haven't seen a huge difference to my skin between the two but the real silk feels so nice and luxurious I don't want to go back to the cheap fake silk.

I sleep on my back . My partner said I snore when I do it. He rolls me over to my side lol

30th July, 2017

Not too think I need one but more for back pain and trouble sleeping. Dunno really how much difference pillows really make to your skin would be interesting to see if it made a difference

30th July, 2017

Urgh I hate sleeping on my back! I'm a foetal sleeper and like to curl up on my side to get comfortable. Also this looks super constraining and doesn't allow for any wriggle room at all.

30th July, 2017

I'd try it, not at over $60 though. Eventually there'll be a cheap knock-off, and I'll try it then! I like to sleep on my back so I think I'd like it.

Jury is still out on this one -I bought an expensive bamboo pillow for lotsd of apprently great benefits and found it aweful -I would worry about sleeping on my back as most people snore when on their back so may swap one problem for another.

I never thought of snoring! I'm single so it'll only annoy the cat (who also snores!)
