Is 'Moisture' the Most Important Thing In Skin Care?

You know what I think you can never go wrong with, no matter your skin type?  A moisturising skin care regime.  Why?  A few reasons.

As I'm writing this I can confidently say.  Winter is here.  And no, I'm not living my alternative life in Westeros - I'm talking the real world.  New Zealand is in Winter. And whilst there is something to be said for those rosy (albeit cold) cheeks, winter generally means our skin is going to suffer. The bracing winter air causes our skin to be more dry than usual.

And in Summer?  Well you gotta keep that moisture locked in for fresh, glowing summer skin.  You don't want to look like you've spent forty days in the desert.

And here's the thing - even if you don't think your skin is particularly dry right now, nature is against you.  You see a common factor of ageing skin is in fact, dryness.  As we age our skin thins, collagen production lessons and we lose oil glands.  All of these factors contribute to increasingly dry skin.  Add to that the fact that dead skin cells do not shed as quickly and the turnover of new skin cells decreases slightly and you can see why including moisturising ingredients in your skin care routine becomes more and more important.

Well.  Do we have a power house trial opportunity coming up.  We're looking for some of our Expert Reviewers to put THREE products by the ever-fabulous Linden Leaves to the test.  Each member of this trial team will review the:

Miraculous Facial Oil

An antioxidant-rich treatment oil to help repair and regenerate skin cells. This natural oil is enhanced with natural ingredients such as rose hip to soften and treat the skin whilst reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. High in antioxidants, this hydrating facial oil provides an instant boost to skin and delivers a radiant glow.

Essential Facial Moisturiser

A light moisturising cream rich in carotenoids and allantoin to help treat blemishes and enhance the skin’s recovery cycle. This moisturiser aims to improve skin elasticity by maintaining moisture levels and balancing skin to restore a youthful appearance.

Regenerating Night Cream

A restorative night cream enriched with powerful natural ingredients to aid overnight skin repair and slow the visible signs of ageing. With the antioxidant properties of certified organic white tea and vitamin rich goji berry, this night cream leaves skin looking hydrated and glowing. Special ingredients such as echium, meadowfoam, mulberry and sweet almond oil work to deeply nourish and firm the skin in a gentle formulation.

So - tell us, is 'moisturising' the thing you look for most when choosing skin care products?  Are you noticing Winter playing havoc on your skin, or maybe even your skin getting more dry as you age?

My skin is definitely getting more dry! Especially in the winter months. It can just feel dull and blegh really. I'm always on the hunt for the right moisturising products. I'd be most interesting to try the facial moisturiser!

23rd August, 2017

Moisture is definitely important but I often find that some products make me break out. I've tried a rose-hip moisturiser which resulted in break outs and bio-oil had the same result. I would love to try these products, especially the Essential Facial Moisturiser because it seems light and works to treat blemishes (so hopefully no break out!). Also, I would really love to try the Miracle Facial Oil as, other than bio oil, I haven't really used oils on my face. I think my experience with Bio Oil has put me off but I think I'm ready to try something new! I've read rave reviews about rosehip oil for your face and this facial oil sounds even better!

I absolutely look for moisturising products as winter drys my skin which in turn plays havoc with my skin trying to overcompensate by producing too much oil

20th August, 2017

Apparently I have oily skin but it looks dry to me. I'm keen to try anything really,if it doesn't break me out and its free I'm in.

My skin is so dry and I struggle to find the right product to manage it long term. Winter doesn't help either. Would love to try these 3 products.

16th August, 2017

Yes, the older I get the drier my skin gets. When I was young I had very oily skin and honestly never thought I would see the day when I could use dry skin care. Over winter I especially look for products to help with moisture. These products look and sound great!

My skin is so dry!!!!! Winter has made it even worse, of course, but generally it's super dry anyway. This product sounds great, definitely keen to try it out.

My skin is as thirsty as - especially in winter when there's lots of heating running at high speed. Echium especially has long been touted as being hugely beneficial as have the other ingredients listed here. Linden Leaves enjoys a great reputation and I would really love to try the Regenerating Night Cream.

The older I get the more I notice my skin needs moisture, have been very lazy in the past, but endeavouring now to look after myself, and moisturising is priority. So busy trying different products to see what works, which can be expensive.

14th August, 2017

I have super dry skin and I can definitely feel how important moisturizing is for my skin! Not only from using products but its also very important to drink a lot of water. If I miss out on one of the 2 for a day I will notice immediately. Even with products I need to apply the moisturizers throughout the day so I would love to try this product in my routine

14th August, 2017

Shock horror - Only yesterday when tweezing my brows using a one million billion zoom in mirror (do not recommend!) I discovered I have dry patches! Never in my life have I seen these before... I am troubled. Is it due to Winter? Age? Wrong product use? However, I am now on a mission to rid myself of these dry patches and would you look at that - a trial for Linden Leaves new products appears! I'm feeling I am PERFECT for this trial :)

12th August, 2017

I always thought I had and do have oily skin but have noticed this year for the first time that during the winter my skin is a little parched. I'm seeking a kepeer for nighttime routine and these all sound lovely I'd love to trial if possible to ascertain the right one for me

9th August, 2017

I love using a moisturiser that contains essential oils and natural ingredients. Something light and quickly absorbed is my ideal. I would love to try something by Linden Leaves, it's a product I haven't used before.

9th August, 2017

Environmental factors have made my skin quite irritated at times and due to having dry skin, I always look for products that are nourishing and protecting.

6th August, 2017

Moisturizing products are my Number 1 priority as my poor ageing skin is definitely drying out with age and I have rosacea to deal with as well! To compound my joy, I have also noticed lots of lines appearing that also need to be dealt to so would love to try a regime that would help moisturize and rejuvenate my skin and repair the visible and unwanted signs of ageing!!
