Hot or Not - Is Grey Ombre Hair The Look You Need Now!?

As we beauty mavens know beauty trends come and go in a beat of one’s cosmetic loving heart. Of course, just because it’s a trend doesn’t make it a good one. Sure, some are amazing and should stick around forever (unicorn anything), others just need to go… sooner rather than later. So what’s got us humming and haa-ing at the moment? Grey ombre hair.

Dark hues of hair fading to grandma-grey are exploding all over the interwebs at the moment, and we’re not sure whether it’s a hit… or… yeah. So we’ve got ourselves a pro/con thing going on.

randomantically

Pro: It looks so different from anything else we’ve seen, while still being super stylish.

Con: It has the potential to come off like a goth nanna (great if that’s your thing, not so much if you’re not)… and do we really want to be mistaken for Lily Munster’s sister?

Pro: It can be easily created and deleted. Take dark hair, add dirty white chalk on the ends and you’re good to go.

Con:  If you want to do it properly we suspect it could be high maintenance with many hours and dollars spent at the salon. Especially if you’re dealing with quick re-growth root issues.

Pro:  If you’re going grey and aren’t sure how to embrace it, then this could be a good place to start, with a darker grey up top going steadily lighter and brighter to the bottom of your hair. Then you can just let it keep growing!

Con:  Um. Yes. We’ve thought long and hard about this one… and we’re out. The thing is we’re quite fond of this look. It’s chic, it embraces a colour that’s usually shunned, and it can also be achieved on hair colour other than dark.

So what say you our beauties… ombre grey hair… hot or not? Will you be trying this look on for size? Or will you be looking the other way? We’d love to know your thoughts, so chat away!

I think it looks ok on some people but I couldn't do it

Looks beautiful on the right person. Definitely would not suit me as I could be mistaken for Lily Munsters sister with my black straight hair!

If I could make it work with the grey hair I am constantly trying to cover, then why not!

Lovely I think. I've been contemplating going 'silver' but I don't think I'm ready for it yet. If younger women do it it's obviously a choice. I'm not young anymore but I will be giving it a miss until I'm 100% sure it's what I want.

I do like this look... on others though... I think on me I would look older than I should :/

Personally I wouldn't do it as I don't think it would suit me but I think the look is so pretty & cute!

I love the grey ombre look but I don't know if I could do it though. I have dark brown and reddish hair naturaly and I'm starting to go grey would love to give it a go but just abit chicken and worried about upkeep and drying effects it would most probably have on my hair it's just recovering from dying it a couple of years ago.

I love the darker version of the grey hair, the darker ombre in the 2nd pic is so hot! Love it!

I've long considered the grey look, I'm thinking of asking my colourist how easy it is to go from grey to blonde if I change my mind haha x

Love the look, but unfortunately not for me. I don't think it would work for my skin tone

3rd September, 2016

I think its gorgeous but I couldn't get away with it in my line of work!

2nd September, 2016

This is my look at the moment! Colour maintenance has become too time consuming, expensive and hard on my hair. I did go for foils but they fried my hair, so now I get my head 'capped' every six weeks or so. I quite like the way it looks. Who knew I was part of a trend?
