Is acne an issue in your life?

If there's one beauty issue that's likely to cause strong emotions, it's acne.  No one understands the true struggle of acne unless they're going through it.  The lack of self confidence.  The hatred of your own skin.  The desperation to find something, anything, that will make you feel just a little bit better in your own skin.  The frustration of receiving well meaning, but frankly, rubbish advice.

As a parent, your heart can break watching your once confident kid retreat into their shell because their skin is a mess.  As a sister, you can offer skincare advice and tell your sibling she is beautiful, all the while hoping she naturally grows out of it like you did.  As a mere acquaintance you can try not to stare at the latest eruption and empathise how hard it must be to try to (unsuccessfully) cover a painful, pus laden breakout and then go on to face the world.  But unless you've been through it yourself, you're Jon Snow.  You know nothing.

Treating, controlling and preventing acne isn't always simple, it doesn't often happen with the first product you try.  What one person swears by might make your skin ten times worse.  But lucky for us - science and technology is ever evolving, which means there will never be a time that you have to 'just give up and live with it'.  The system that works for you could be the next one you try.

We have an amazing trial opportunity for 20 teenagers struggling with acne.  We're putting the Dermalogica Clear Start system to the test.

Reflecting on their commitment to healthy skin at every age for more than 25 years, Dermalogica's Clear Start is a serious skin care line dedicated to clearing up breakout-prone teen skin. Clear Start utilises proven blemish-fighting ingredients and soothing botanicals to reduce bacteria, control oil, and clear breakouts leaving the skin healthy and smooth.

Each trialist will be putting 5 products to the test over 4 weeks.  We're looking for male and female reviewers aged 12 - 24* to put the range to the test.

  • Breakout Clearing Foaming Wash.  This breakout fighting foaming wash clears away dead skin cells, dirt and excess oils that clog pores and cause breakouts.
  • Breakout Clearing All Over Toner. This unique mist-all-over purifying toner controls excess oils and helps eliminate breakouts on the face and body. Refreshing extracts help cool and revive skin.
  • Breakout Clearing Daytime Treatment.  This daily, lightweight moisturiser and powerful pimple-preventing treatment in one helps wipe out breakouts before they emerge!
  • Oil Clearing Matte Moisturizer SPF15. A moisturiser that minimizes oil and shine? It’s true! This ultra-light, non-greasy hydrating formula controls oily areas like the nose and forehead for an all-over matte finish. SPF helps shield against the UV rays that can make breakouts worse and cause dark spots.
  • Breakout Clearing Overnight Treatment.  Wake up to clearer skin! This invisible treatment absorbs quickly then works all night to fight breakouts. Rest easy as it purifies to ensure you awake with less congestion, fewer breakouts and reduced redness.

I bought dermalmd acne serum for my 17 year old son, who occasionally has trouble with acne. He said this product works very well, and I can see clearer skin on him after using it for one week. I figure if a 17 year old boy says a product works well, then it must!

As an acne sufferer in the past I can sympathise with all those younger people who have acne. Happily I am past this stage of my life and no longer have breakouts on my skin.

I honestly thought that once into my 30's I wouldn't have issues with pimples and breakouts boy was I wrong.. every so often one of those under the skin bumps appears (the ones if you squeeze nothing comes out but boy do they look messy). Finding a reliable product that helps clear up problems such as these is a must.. I will be interested to read the reviews on this range

I applied for this for my little sister she has sensitive skin and x-ma - soo not how you spell it but anyway I always struggled with acne too I tried so many products before going to the doctor still had it badly in my mid 20s so finally got special permission to go on roaccutane which has serious side effects such as dry lips weaker organs and your skin will be extra prone to sun damage and you do not want to get pregnant because it can harm the baby. It was only because I had tried so many other things. Anyway it dramatically changed my whole skin and it has never been as bad since. Now over a year and half later I am expecting my first child and I have been breaking out a little off and on I know what things fight acne and about cosmotology so would be keen to see what the "proven blemish-fighting ingredients and soothing botanicals to reduce bacteria, control oil, and clear breakouts" additive are.

Not a teenager but i definitely do struggle with acne and blackheads! So annoying as i know it's because of the hormones from my contraception, I don't just break out on my face, but all over my body, back, arms, thighs, you name it. such a knock to your confidence and it sucks having to cover up in the middle of summer because you don't want people seeing your gross back ):

I have suffered from severe acne since the age of 13. 10 years later and it's still ruining my life! I have tried many different brands but nothing works. It has damaged my confidence so much. I would love to be on this trial team!

Looks great - I could volunteer for my son who has teenage acne and I'd like help him with it discretely.

17th September, 2016

Ahhh, please!! I have cystic acne and my skin is so frustrating </3

17th September, 2016

Ms 17 has breakouts that worsen on stress. Is having NCEA L3 stuff going and aiming to go to Uni next year. Am hopeful she will cope with lack of confidence in looking spotty. She has tried many products short of going on prescription (her sister did and had a severe allergic reaction) so trying 1 product brand would be awesome. She is also vigilent in removing makeup so has a good beauty routine however i think not the 'right' product yet. Currently using different brands for cleanser, toner etc. With luck this product will do the job!! She'll be signing up later today

16th September, 2016

I do have breakouts but they aren't teenage level bad. So I'll be sitting this one out. Best of luck everyone.

16th September, 2016

This would be great for my daughter who has lost confidence and believes she has to cover up with make up to hide the acne
