We watch a lot of Princess movies in our household. And by a lot I mean all of them. I’ve gone from only knowing Ariel, Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora and Belle to being on first name basis with Anna, Elsa, Tiana, Jasmine, Pocahontas, Merida, Rapunzel, and no doubt soon Moana and I will be hanging out.

Now I’m not a particularly princess-y kind of gal. In fact it’s safe to say I’m most comfortable in jeans and a t-shirt, or shorts and a t-shirt, but I do have a fascination with princess hair, often epitomised by the Disney Princesses, with their long lush locks that don’t frizz and go off in wild directions (Merida being the exception, but then riotous curls suit her personality and she rocks them, and if my wavy curly frizz bomb would do what hers did I’d be stoked).  Of course if I had to choose one princesses hair to have? Well, it wouldn’t be a princess so much as a duchess, or technically both on further Googling. Yes, I love Duchess Catherine’s hair. It’s so shiny, glossy, frizz-free and perfect. In fact the only time I was less than enamoured with it was when she got herself some full on fringe action going on, but since that appears to be growing out, and the hairstylist is making it less prominent a part of her look, I’m guessing she felt the same.

Of course, when one adores Princess hair, one has to figure out how to get it. Lucky for us a how-to came straight from her hairstylist’s mouth! Check out this video Richard Ward filmed for People magazine

According to Richard Ward the key to the look is cutting long layers in order to create movement, with only a small amount of graduation at the side. In the video he also shows how he cuts in the fringe, but yes, we know how I feel about the fringe, so I ignored that part.

Fringe or no fringe though, her hair is a gorgeous cascade of brunette locks one can but dream of emulating, or actually emulate if you’re any good with a blow dryer and round barrel brush.

Duchess Catherine, I curtsey to you, you fabulously tressed lady.

So do tell… who has your favourite princess hair? Ariel? Merida? Rapunzel? Have you tried Duchess Catherine’s look? How did it work out? Chat away…

I have to say I do love her style, for clothes, hair and makeup. It's classic and feminine with a modern touch. Her looks are always so effortless too.

She is simple gorgeous. Great fashion sense but a lovely person who is down to earth. Can't say I have tried any of her hair styles however as they just wouldn't work on me. Got to love Ariel long red hair.

I do love Princess Kates hair but I can never pull it off. I like the color of Meridas hair through and it would be awesome to have curls like that. Also Belles brunette locks

Catherines hair is amazing, I think she's beautiful all round. My hair envy is rupunzel.I love the length. It's a little toooooo long but omg beautiful! If I could live with such long hair I would, bit I could only imagine how heavy it is lol

I do adore Ariel hair.... Nice long hair.... I like Catherine's hair too... But her dress sense attract more than her hair.... This my personal opinion.

She does have really gorgeous hair. For year I did have my hair cut in two layers in a v-shape but I didn't have much length between the two layers just because I liked to put my hair up and in hair styles rather than wear down. I did have a bit of a fringe but I do wear glasses and it gets in the way, so instead I opted for a some long layers cut around my face to frame it. I currently am sporting just long trimmed hair cut straight across. I usually don't wear my hair down hardly since I shed like crazy so I usually have my hair in braids because of that any layers I have don't really show but if I did start wearing my hair down more often I would have some layers cut.

I like Queen Elsa of Arendelle! I liked Princess Kate's hair when it was long, now it just looks a bit ratty. Lots of ladies on BR have fabulous hair - nicer than a lot of celebrities in fact!

My 3.5 year old's fav princess at the moment is Rapunzel hahahaha - my daughter has dark hair down to her waist already and she's not 4 till the end of the year!

Catherine has a gorgeous smile to match! I have always had hair envy when it came to Ariel, that fiery red looks like it would light the underwater world on fire!

I like her hair but mine is far too fine for this style to work for me. It helps having a personal hairdresser too!

Kate is so stunning. I love her style. Oh my hair is unruly. I don't know how I used to get the time to straighten my hair. I love princess hair.

I tend to follow the Duchess' handbag fashion but that's just me. I like a good handbag.

I adore Kate and used to have hair very similar to hers. In fact a little girl thought I was her when they visited NZ a couple of years ago. My inner princess was very flattered. I love everything princess like in fact; hair, tiaras, dresses etc.

I love Kate she always looks stunning. This reminded me of a post on Facebook that came up of how their hair should really look in every day life.

I love Catherine's hair -it is so feminine and healthy looking . I am past the age to wear this but my hair is so thick and grows so fast it would never look as good as this.

I'd never really noticed her handbags before, but you inspired me to start following them too.

She doesn't often have them so that's why they are even more coveted!

Definitely Macs - time flies so quickly it seems (I have a 22 year old son also) - don't know where that time went either :)
