When today's trial product first arrived at BRHQ there were waves of excitement.  Two of our favourite words colliding to form one of the most satisfying beauty products ever.

Sugar Scrub.

You're probably familiar with sugar scrubs - the naturally coarse grains are perfect for exfoliating your skin and there's no fear for the environment, a la microbeads, as the grains simply dissolve when you rinse the product off.  Sugar scrubs are usually mixed with an oil or thick cream to form a product that you take handfuls of and give yourself a good scrubbing.

But what got us a bit more excited was that these weren't in fact body scrubs.  These were facial scrubs.  Call us heathens, but both Kellie and I confess to having never scrubbed our face with sugar.  A bit of research told us we really should have gotten sugar on our faces sooner.  Here's why:

  1. Sugar is a humectant - it draws moisture in.  So it'll hydrate your skin and keep moisture locked in.
  2. Sugar contains glycolic acid, which is an Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA).  AHA's encourage cell regeneration by breaking down the glue that bonds skin cells, leaving fresh, glowing skin.

So now we all want to pour some sugar on it, let's talk about the product that started us on this path.  We give you, the L'Oréal Paris Sugar Scrubs.   These scrubs blend three fine sugars, brown, blonde and white, with key ingredients to create three different scrubs for three different skin types.  At the heart of each formula are 100% naturally sourced exfoliants rich in essential nutrients, providing deep yet gentle exfoliation for delicate skin.

The Glow Face Scrub combines the sugars with the brightening properties of Grape Seed Oil to instantly reveal a radiant complexion and baby-soft skin.  The Grape Seed Oil is enriched Vitamin E to illuminate skin while Monoi Oil protects the skin from dullness, and Acai Powder refines the skin’s surface for a visibly smoother finish.

The Nourishing Scrub uses the soothing properties of Cocoa Butter to instantly reveal nourished,  super soft skin.  Cocoa Butter is rich in essential fatty acids to soothe dryness and Coconut Oil protects the skin barrier.  The addition of Cocoa Grains to the three sugars aids in dead skin cell removal and even softer skin.

The Purifying Scrub The sugars provide deep yet gentle exfoliation enabling the purifying ingredients to get to work clearing the skin.  Kiwi Seeds exfoliate the skin and visibly reduce blackheads, Peppermint Essential Oil soothes the skin and reduces blemishes, and Lemongrass Essential Oil purifies the skin.

Whatever scrub you choose, you simply apply a small amount with dry fingers onto your clean, dry skin, add warm water and gently massage over your face in circular motions, avoiding the eye area. Once sugars have melted, rinse with warm water.  You can use up to 3 times a week and you can use it as a lip scrub to smooth and refine the lip line!

We need 90 reviewers to put these to the L'Oréal Paris Sugar Scrubs to the test.

If you're keen to give it a go, talk to us below about all things scrubby and most importantly, tell us which of these is your biggest skin concern:

- Dull skin
- Acne prone/Black-head prone skin
- Dry skin

I've never tried a facial scrub before, only lip scrubs and like clay masks (from loreal). I'd love to try this as I have dry skin, dull skin and acne/blackhead prone skin. It is hard to find something that works with my combo skin.

I'm not sure I've ever bought a sugar scrub before but I regularly make one with brown sugar and olive oil. I'd love to trial any of these and see whether they are any better than my homemade version, plus it's always lovely to open a beautifully packaged and perfumed jar of goodness.

Sugar scrubs are fantastic and I would be excited to try one of these new ones. I love the sound of the glow scrub as texture and dullness seem to be things I battle constantly.

Acne prone/blackhead skin is definitely my biggest concern, my last exfoliate just ran out so maybe this is divine intervention for my poor skin. The sound of the kiwi and peppermint oil sounds delicious and fresh! I’ve tried sugar scrubs for my lips but never for my face what an adventure!
