When today's trial product first arrived at BRHQ there were waves of excitement.  Two of our favourite words colliding to form one of the most satisfying beauty products ever.

Sugar Scrub.

You're probably familiar with sugar scrubs - the naturally coarse grains are perfect for exfoliating your skin and there's no fear for the environment, a la microbeads, as the grains simply dissolve when you rinse the product off.  Sugar scrubs are usually mixed with an oil or thick cream to form a product that you take handfuls of and give yourself a good scrubbing.

But what got us a bit more excited was that these weren't in fact body scrubs.  These were facial scrubs.  Call us heathens, but both Kellie and I confess to having never scrubbed our face with sugar.  A bit of research told us we really should have gotten sugar on our faces sooner.  Here's why:

  1. Sugar is a humectant - it draws moisture in.  So it'll hydrate your skin and keep moisture locked in.
  2. Sugar contains glycolic acid, which is an Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA).  AHA's encourage cell regeneration by breaking down the glue that bonds skin cells, leaving fresh, glowing skin.

So now we all want to pour some sugar on it, let's talk about the product that started us on this path.  We give you, the L'Oréal Paris Sugar Scrubs.   These scrubs blend three fine sugars, brown, blonde and white, with key ingredients to create three different scrubs for three different skin types.  At the heart of each formula are 100% naturally sourced exfoliants rich in essential nutrients, providing deep yet gentle exfoliation for delicate skin.

The Glow Face Scrub combines the sugars with the brightening properties of Grape Seed Oil to instantly reveal a radiant complexion and baby-soft skin.  The Grape Seed Oil is enriched Vitamin E to illuminate skin while Monoi Oil protects the skin from dullness, and Acai Powder refines the skin’s surface for a visibly smoother finish.

The Nourishing Scrub uses the soothing properties of Cocoa Butter to instantly reveal nourished,  super soft skin.  Cocoa Butter is rich in essential fatty acids to soothe dryness and Coconut Oil protects the skin barrier.  The addition of Cocoa Grains to the three sugars aids in dead skin cell removal and even softer skin.

The Purifying Scrub The sugars provide deep yet gentle exfoliation enabling the purifying ingredients to get to work clearing the skin.  Kiwi Seeds exfoliate the skin and visibly reduce blackheads, Peppermint Essential Oil soothes the skin and reduces blemishes, and Lemongrass Essential Oil purifies the skin.

Whatever scrub you choose, you simply apply a small amount with dry fingers onto your clean, dry skin, add warm water and gently massage over your face in circular motions, avoiding the eye area. Once sugars have melted, rinse with warm water.  You can use up to 3 times a week and you can use it as a lip scrub to smooth and refine the lip line!

We need 90 reviewers to put these to the L'Oréal Paris Sugar Scrubs to the test.

If you're keen to give it a go, talk to us below about all things scrubby and most importantly, tell us which of these is your biggest skin concern:

- Dull skin
- Acne prone/Black-head prone skin
- Dry skin

I love facial scrubs but have never tried a sugar one on my face before so I'd love to give it a go. My friend is making her own but I haven't got the patience for that. My issue is slightly dry skin that it a bit dull. Don't get spots but have fine lines and sun spots emerging.

I love the sound of the Glow face scrub. I’ve tried a sugar scrub before and found it left my face smooth and bright.

16th February, 2018

I would love to try the Glow scrub, it looks amazing and it's definitely time I tried a new scrub as my current one is leaving my skin looking a bit blah.

15th February, 2018

My skin is really acne prone, and I recently discovered that I have an oily T-zone but dry skin everywhere else. I would love to give this a try to get rid of all the dead skin cells I have and see if it helps!

14th February, 2018

I've never tried a sugar scrub for my face but I LOVE a good exfolliation. My skin has always been oily and acne-prone but in the last couple of years it has been leaning towards dullness as I get older so I would love to try either of those!

I have tried many mud masks but never a facial scrub. I would love to give it a shot and see if it can help these pregnancy breakouts or at least soften my skin some more, they say pregnancy is supposed to leave you glowing.....I am yet to witness this testament that people tell me ;)

13th February, 2018

My skin can get dull and dry when the weather changes and a lot of products are too harsh for my skin, so i'd love to try the Purifying Scrub, I love that it utilises kiwi seeds and has gentle exfoliation!

13th February, 2018

I’d love to try the nourishing scrub - I really need a product that won’t dry my skin, I have often found scrubs harsh in the past so tend to avoid them.

12th February, 2018

I feel like I need this in my life right now. My current exfoliating products don't seem to be doing their job and I've got dry flaky skin that just doesn't look right.

11th February, 2018

My skin has always been dry! I have problems with foundation sticking to my nose and forehead dry patches. So a scrub to exfoliate and moisturise my skin before applying foundation for a more flawless finish would be life changing for me

11th February, 2018

I absolutely adore facial scrubs! Use them almost every day! They help keep my skin under control. It gets rid of my dry skin and keeps my skin looking flawless.

10th February, 2018

Oohhhh this is exactly what I need, I wash my skin twice daily but like to exfoliate at least once a week and the last one I reviewed is about to run out! I have never thought of using sugar on my face, we use it with dish washing liquid when colouring icing your hands get stained and this helps get it out, yes please I really want to try! I Have a slightly oily skin so tend to go for purifying, but of late they have tended to dry my skin a bit, so the nourishing might be the way to go

9th February, 2018

It would be really interesting to try this - I've used sugar scrubs regularly on my body and like the results. I would have thought this would be quite coarse for facial use but it would be good to find out and have similar great results on my face for dry skin with oily places
