I tend to think of my makeup life as BBR and ABR. Before Beauty Review and After Beauty Review. BBR I had no idea what a crease was, didn’t know blending existed, and used one colour on my lids and another one on the outer v when creating an eyeshadow look. After Beauty Review – well, the sky’s the limit when it comes to creating a look on my eyelids. Some days I keep it super simple, other days I’m packing on loads of shades and giving my fluffy eyeshadow blending brush a wicked workout.
Along with this newfound knowledge, came a new obsession. Buying all the eyeshadows – because the more shades one has the more one can play. Most recently I was introduced to the Bourjois Little Round Pot Eyeshadow range. These divine eyeshadows feature a cream to powder formula, they come in matte, pearl and shimmer finishes, can be used wet or dry, and they apply so smoothly and blend like a dream. Best of all the colour range can be mixed and matched to create looks ranging from simple to smoking hot!
So what are my favourite four eyeshadow looks?
The Naturals
A single pot of shadow makes for a gorgeous wash of colour. Just sweep over the lid and into the crease, and then blend out to diffuse the colour, add a swish of mascara to your lashes you’re good to go. This is my favourite daytime weekend look, and garners a surprising amount of compliments – especially when a slightly out of the box colour is used, like mauve or silvery grey or a rich bronze.
Looking to amp up your look a little? Take a darker shade and add it to the outer ‘v’ of your eyes. This simple move will add depth to your eyes, and is a great look for when you’re whizzing out to work and want to look less like you’ve rolled out of bed and more like you’ve made an effort.
If you’ve more time on your hands and you’re in the mood to really play up your peepers, three shades can create a look that will really emphasise your eyes. Start with the wash of colour over your lid. Take a darker shade and work it into your crease (that’s the bit where the brow bone and socket meet to create a hollow), being sure to blend it out. Then take a darker shade again and apply it to the outer v of your eyes, once again blending it so that there are no distinct edges.
Ready to hit the town? Have a special event to attend? Pull out four shades of colour and get set to wow. Pop a single colour all over the lid, pop in your crease colour, then take a darker shade and apply it to the outer v, then use that same colour to line the outer rims of your eyes – that’s what I call no-fail eyeliner and it adds a delicious smokiness for an evening look, and subtle sophistication for a daytime look. Finally take a shimmer shade and pack it on the centre of the eyelid for an eye-opening look.
Want to take it further? Grab a fifth shade, make it a light one, and apply to your inner eye corners as a highlight.
The Smokeys
I have read rules about what types of shadows should be used where – such as no glittery shadows in the crease, or only matte shadows in the outer v – but you know what? You do you. That’s what I do. Play! Have fun! It’s makeup; you can experiment to your heart’s delight and then wipe it off and start again.
We have 8 Bourjois Little Round Pot sets to giveaway, each worth $100! Modern, sensual, elegant and simple, these gorgeous shades can be used wet or dry for variable intensity and last for up to 12 hours - and each pot contains enough for 700 applications!

Smokeys! I have blue-grey eyes and it seems that any smokey coloured aye shadow really helps to give my hooded eyelids that pop they need !
